Mewtwo stalls 2 turns, 3 if i go second, khan tries to do the same, a little damage to anything and gengar oneshots it generally and gengar takes a hit from anything also. gengar + gren ohko pika and gren is just broken generically so getting the damage amp even on khan punches gets nuts as even in the lategame killing khan can be a problem. gengars huge health pool + denial of supporters means that if he comes out early he stuns them even if he isnt attacking right away and if he comes out late he locks them out of any shenanigans.
>>
When the event ends, I'm unfriending everyone who doesn't have the 5 winstreak medal.
>>
>>57062355
Eh, Golem takes too much recoil for the effort it takes to get a stage 2 on board right now. Doesn’t help that Graveler is a bad stage 1. Geodude is (just) alright. If Brock supported the entire line, I’d like it a lot more.
>>
Why does Onix look like a bad dragon in an angus?
>>
>>57062412
Dual energy or just psychic?
>>
>>57062378
It goes like this
I had a bisharp taking hits from pika
Only applied energy to melmetal
Bishap dies after a few hits and mel goes in at 3, tanks a hit then goes for the kill after now at 4 energy
>>
>>57062421

>>57062353

>>
>>57062443
Misty wins games with just one flip of heads. You're suggesting guaranteed two energy with no coin flips
>>
>>57062451
Okay, how about this: 1 energy for onyx, two for golem and rhydon. That way you can't steamroll anything turn 1 since the latter two are evolutions anyway. The thing you have to keep in mind is misty is a coinflip but for ANY water pokemon, whereas golen rhydon and onix are all kind of ass.As long as onyx isn't swinging for 70 on turn 1, I don't even think this change would make them that much more viable.

I've had more consistent wins on my venosaur ex/butterfree deck than on any of the meta decks I've used. I thought I was just getting lucky on it, but it keeps happening, I dunno. Maybe lots of people are used to meta decks but don't know how to play around massive healing as much?

Then play Tauros, by the time kanga averages 100 damage, tauros already did 150. The only caveat is that kanga covers 60 HP limits and can snipe with enough luck. And this matters more than consistent damage because it does it off a single energy.
>>
>>57062546
Tauros needs 2 energy
>>
I swear so many players are yugioh brained. The amount of times I've turned a game around from a bricked hand because the opponent goes

>>
>>57062555
Yeah if someone has only 2 cards and isnt doing anything with them, chances are they are important stage 1 and 2 mons. Redcard people are retarded anyway, if you no value trashing your opponents hand then just play telescope too
>>
>>57062555
Prior to this event, I had *never* been Red Carded in a way that fucked me over. However, on the way to a 5 winstreak, I got Red Carded turn 1/2 probably about 5 or 6 times, each time it completely fucked me. This is the only good time to use Red Card, and it had never been done to me before. I started playing around turn 1/2 Red Card when I did not do that previously, because everyone waited until I had a bricked hand or was on the last real turn of the game to use it.
>>
>>57062435
You got a list?
>>
>>57062555
There are board states where red card is clearly more likely to be disadvantageous / advantageous, but at the end of the day, it’s a gamble.
>>57062569
You have to play expecting the card. In practice, it conditions you to play the cards in your hand for fear of losing them.
>>
>>57062578
>You have to play expecting the card.
Nope. Never had to do that before.
>In practice, it conditions you to play the cards in your hand for fear of losing them.
Nope. Red Card is literally only good turn 1 and turn 2 after you Oak/Pokeball. This is what I had always done and had never been punished for. The way I'm playing around Red Card now is that I do not Oak unless I have nothing else I can do.
>>
>>57062555
Every time I've gotten red carded it's good for me. There are games I swear I'm going to lose and then red card gives me exactly what I need
>>
>red card my oponent after a professors research and two pokéballs turn zero
>the psychological damage is so intense they concede
Lmao get destroyed little fella
>>
I like using 2 red cards back to back.
The first is to give them the cards they need.
The second one is to take away that small spark of hope.
>>
>>57062604
>psychological damage
It's not psychological damage, anon. As I've said from the beginning, that's the literal only good use of Red Card. He probably had the nuts and you gave him like 2 X Speeds and a Giovanni with 1 non-EX Basic on board. That's just a loss.
>>
>>57062334
Nah Golem’s a demon, I was running a similar build and it was dunking on people earlier in both queues. Imo Onix is the thing holding the deck back because it’s just too inefficient and the retreat cost is horrid, it’s only real niche is catching people off guard with Brock
>>
>>57062622
>Implying you're not just giving me what I need twice

>>
>>57062578
Oh don't get me wrong, I think Red Card is really strong and I fit it in any deck that has space, but I just see so many people play it against a full hand instead of when it's actually useful.
>>57062586
>Red Card is literally only good turn 1 and turn 2
There is a much stronger use case for it, maybe you'll figure it out after playing more.
>>
>>57062643
>shitposter begins shitposting
It was only a matter of time until you started this.
>>
I have never conceded, even obvious losses.
>>
>>57062555
I am guilty of this
Everytime I see 5 cards I red card no matter what. And I end up losing because he draws into Oak 95% of the time
It's just impossible not to do

But somehow my opponents always red card me when I have 3 cards in hand and it ALWAYS fucks me
>>
>put a base mon on bench, have stage 1 and 2 in hand (I ran 1 copy of each)
>suddenly Red Card
>brick.jpg
>redraws give me exact same 2 evos plus an Oak on top
And that is what we call being skilled at the game.
>>
Hand disruption is great in the real game. Here it's just "ok"
Why?
Because there are not nearly as many card advantage, draw engines, tutors etc. in pocket it's a guess whether or not the opponent has what they need. In ptcgl it's an educated guess when you can use it after they pop off with one of their pant card advantage engines, or win two prizes. Easy iono.
Red card is sadly useless In pocket, at least for now. As more card advantage comes out, that may change. But for now don't bother

removing any specific card type limiters, and letting cards that provide specific types of energy to apply to any card would make a lot colorless cards more useable, if not necessarily meta relevant. I also wish the non-EX versions of cards actually filled a different niche from their EX versions and weren't just worse. Default moltres having to flip 1 coin to see if it's 3 energy attack does anything is beyond retarded.
>>
>>57062684
It gets the job done for these PvP events. I prefer using other decks for regular play.

>>
>>57062674
Persian is bad, Hypno is only for stall and you are not stalling for anything. Hand Scope is fun but I don't like the -1.
>>
>>57062737
In theory this is correct, but basically every support card or pokemon ability that sends energy to other cards has the stipulation that it's the same type, so ex moltres can only send energy to other fire types, and not eevee or whatever. The only colorless you sometimes see run like farfetched/kanga/meowth are all 1 energy cost cards, colorless cards that require more energy have no way of getting it besides manually moving it, making them way worse compared to other types that have ways of getting energy.
>>
Do you get bothered by not having a matching playset of a rare card? It's bothering me more than I expected it would. I think it's because it only takes 2 for a playset in this game, meaning just 1 short.

I think on paper, jynx is better for misty shenanigans, and when it only needs 2 energy to attack, it can work as a suprise against high energy opponents when you plop it down and then charge it up with gardevoir to attack the same turn. The opponent can see alakazam coming, and while jynx lacks the same kill potential in late stages of the game, being able to potentially set it up in a single turn with gard is invaluable. I mostly wanted hypno to stall while I set up zam but weezing is a pretty tempting option.

>Agatha: if you have ghastly haunter or gengar, the opposing pokemon is now paralyzed

Just some ideas for trainers. I like the specific approach to things, it makes deck identity more neat, like what koga and surge do.

When I played ExeVenu, I felt like Venu was the weak link, and Exe was winning all of my games. That might be an "objectively" better deck than VenuLilli, but I don't think Exe and Venu belong in the same deck. I think Exe needs something a little bit faster than Venu to clean up the kills it doesn't secure.

>>57063416
Exeggutor is for closing games before the opponent can setup. The longer the game goes the worse it gets. Standard Exeggutor isn't too bad in that regard actually since it also has decent HP and doesn't reward 2 points at a lesser 30-60 damage
>>
>>57063416
>What is good about Exe?
Yeah, that's what I thought too until I just started playing cards I had never played before. Exeggutor back by Erika is actually crazy good. Even swinging for 40 beats a lot of things that you might think it wouldn't. You don't even need to hit heads for Exe to be impactful, but if you can swing for 80 you pretty much just win before they set up.
>>

Completely depends on how much money they made off this little event. If tons of normies swiped to build Mewtwo or Pika in an attempt to get their 5 wins then we'll be seeing these all the time.
>>
>>57063412
In theory, Eggs are better because you only commit one energy for something that'll hit harder than Lilli and tank more damage. Maybe even get some quick kills early on and disrupt the opponent's own curve while commiting every other energy to Venu; Petilil hits for a pathetic 10 damage.
There's also the builds that use Butterfree, but then you're committing to way too many lines, so people just do EggsFree or VictreeFree.

That said, I feel like the Lilli curve is more stable because while she doesn't hit as hard as Eggs or tanks as much, like you said she does accelerate Venu (the turn she evolves is neutral because you commit one energy to her but you also produce one new for Venu) and she's only worth one point, so you can put another basic down to avoid Sabrina shenanigans without risking that same basic being a liability later because that's a total of four points.
>>
>>57063416
1 energy attack so Exeggutor can swing on turn 3. He also has a fat ass, so you can set up behind him without losing much tempo for the one energy you put on him.
Lilligant in comparison attacks on turn 4 and the earliest. And they got hit as Petilil so Liliigant probably attacks once before they die. Which is still only a tempo loss of 1 energy but the payoff is much worse than Exeggutor.

Not sure who the best pair for Exe is. Switched Venu out because the star of every single game was undoubtedly Exe
>>
>>57063411
My personal argument for Eggs Venu is exactly that they do completely different things. Eggs are for closing games early, disrupting enemies with early burst damage and walling early game relatively low damage stuff. Venu is a late game mon, so he appreciates the early game protection and takes over once things go further and Eggs fall off.

They're mons made for different game stages and cover each other that way, is the idea behind it.

Honestly it's the same principle as clefable Alakazam or even Blaine with rapidash and Ninetails. You use the line that only takes one energy to attack in the early game and the set up the closer on your bench. The difference with eggs being that he has a chance at a huge 80 damage for one energy and he's difficult to ko, so he's arguably the best single energy attacker in the game right now, fitting an interesting niche. When you look at him on paper compared to the other ex's it looks bad but when you consider the sheer speed and upswing that he can have it seems like eggs can end a lot of games before they even begin.
>>
>>57063450
>They're mons made for different game stages and cover each other that way, is the idea behind it.
I understand the "theory" behind pairing Venusaur with Eggs, but I did not personally find it to be a good pairing. Like I said before, Venusaur doesn't even do anything. Venusaur won 1 game in the time I played it, against a Mewtwo deck where I flipped tails on Eggs every single flip. If any of them had been heads, I wouldn't have needed Venu to tank a 150 from Mewtwo. That's the only game where Venu did anything at all.

Then you have games where you get Sabrina'd, and now you've got two different mons with a 3 retreat cost, and that's just not tenable. It fucks you over, because you need to be building both of them, but now you've got a Venusaur you can't really attack, and you can't really sac a bulba or something favorably because everything you're running is EX. I think Exe needs a slightly lower curve than Venusaur to really "mesh". I wanted to try Victreebel, since I think that would allow you to finish off any early game retreated pokemon from Eggs barrage, but I just switched to a different deck and wanted to play around with other mons (like Greninja)
>>
>>57063417
As long as Venu hits first, only Zard, full Draco Dnite and Zam + Gio can kill him. Blastoise requires a bit more work, since you need near max healing (Blastoise hits for 160 down to 30, you heal for 140 - Erika (50) + 2 Pots (40) + Butterfree (20) + attack (30) - back to 170, 'Toise hits again and toad lives with 10, but Venu can 2 round it as well.

Venusaur is THE tank mon in this game as of right now and very little can 1v1 him if you maneuver correctly.

Oh, I don't like VenuEggs myself, which is why I play Lilli. I think Eggs can do well with Victreebel (since it has the best bench effect in the game as you can choose what gets dragged out) and one line of Butterfree to keep your boys up (since Free heals *everything*, including itself for 20 every turn).

Cringe youtuber aside, this video showcases the deck's potential pretty well, I'd say.

>>57063496
Considering the biggest threats are usually EX basics - Pika, M2, Cuno - you still hit a lot of big stuff and, if you can get it set up fast enough, deny the opponent getting their evos by killing the basics first.
>>
>>57063494
right, that's why victreebell is in the most meta deck in the game and not zebstrika right?
>>
>>57063501

What?
>>
>>57063507
Are you being intentionally obtuse? Zeb only needs one energy and, because of it, it can be splashed in anything way more liberally, on top of being a Stage 1. Victreebel's ABILITY to choose anything to come to the active and taking 60 damage is objectively better, but that doesn't mean Victreebel itself is a better mon or easier to use.
Please keep your bullshit to yourself, yeah?

>>
>>57063513
Sure but, like everything else in this game, it all depends on luck of the draw. Imagine the opponent has a Moltres in the active and is building an Arc and a Zard. You can potentially interrupt one of these right away if they don't evolve immediately which is potentially game saving.
Or someone with Starmie with an Articuno in the back and vice versa (with a Staryu, of course).

All up to good 'ol RNG.

I'm on the fence about where Heliolisk falls in this but I definitely see Magenton as a (slightly worse) 3rd and 4th copy of Electrode.

Raichu is pretty good, but having to commit to Surge and basically having to carry Magneton with you hold it back.

>Raichu is pretty good, but having to commit to Surge and basically having to carry Magneton with you hold it back.
You don't need to do that at all. You just retreat to the bench and Surge the Raichu. Sometimes you can even just raw build the Raichu (instead of Zapdos) and slap a Giovanni on it to kill Mewtwo.

Also, I don't really like to run Raichu without a Mag battery. I did fight someone once that did some cute maneuvering with Pika/Zap/Rai, but considering I beat them with Venu, I wouldn't say it's great.
If it could just discard the attack cost, it'd be infinitely better.
>>
>>57063590
>but he worded it very badly.
Nope. You retreat to the bench and Surge the Raichu. Just because you chose to interpret it in a way that you thought made me sound stupid does not mean that I worded it poorly. If you wanted to try to understand it, then if you play this game at all you would have understood that when I said "retreat to the bench and Surge the Raichu" I meant that you "retreat to the bench and Surge the Raichu". There is no Magneton involved.

Nothing much to be done about the Saur, but for Mags, the promo WPs can only show up in the 12 public slots and not the 4 friend slots. So just go to the list, see when the nearest timer expires and check then to see if you get a bonus or Chansey pick. Do it if you can, then repeat. At some point I had a bonus pick already picked and two simultaneously expired Chansey picks because I check as soon as one dies, so I'm constantly rotating slots.

>I hope so, magneton's just a shitty battery right now.
He can't attack on turn 4 (which is a huge downside) but otherwise he's basically Electrode.
80 HP, effectively free retreat, and you put 2 energy on him for 60 damage (10 less than Electrode).
If you don't need him ASAP you can put 1 or 0 energy on him and still get him online.

What do you think about running 2 evolution ex Pokemon and a 1 copy of their non-ex? Like Charizard, Exeggutor, Gengar and Marowak
>>
>>57063905
It can be functional, depending on the deck. For the starters and maybe gengar it's fine if you don't have both EX's but definetly not better than just using the two EX versions. For marowak or eggs I don't see the point in using either normal version. normal marowak hits for shit damage, and normal eggs is just kangaskhan you need to evolve first.
>>
>>57063912
Regular Marowak has the benefit of hitting fast with 100HP in a bad situation or as a lead I guess
Exeggutor I think would be decent since it's meant to be a lead so you want to draw an Exeggutor as soon as possible and it also doesn't give 2 points when knocked out

zapdos

There's a potentially game breaking mechanic out there if one brainstorms how to exploit it.

Most people know that you're not obligated to use certain energy types in a deck even if certain Pokémon will not be able to attack (i.e Darkless Weezing). But an interesting note is that cards designed to fetch energy do not require that energy to be available in your recipe.

>Brock

Normal mewtwo serves primarily as a meatshield with two retreat cost to soak hits while you build up gard and ex mewtwo, and can also work as a backup plan if you struggle to pull mewtwo but manage to get your gardevoir up quickly to charge it.
>>57063918
the problem is that normal executor needs to evolve to get online while doing almost the same damage as kangaskhan. it being worth less points matters less since EX eggs has 160 hp, and benefits more from healing, being able to potentially take a psychic sphere and psy drive back to back without dying.
>>
>>57063924
>>Brock
Only works on Golem and Onix. Onix requires 3 Fighting energy, so this is impossible. Golem does only require 1 energy, but it now requires a trainer and a stage 3.
>>Misty
Completely a coinflip. Likely to do nothing.
>>Meltan
Requires Metal energy to Amass

You are late to the party, and none of this is game breaking.
>>
>>57063835
The best deck creator is Pokémonmeta imo, limitless you have to search through all of the tcg and the other websites lag to infinity or are equally as aids to use
No fancy export options tho and it probably looks worse than others
>>
>>57063928
Golem.. well that would mean that Brock is a dead draw until you manage to fully evolve Golem; to install a stage 2 evolution that kills itself from recoil. I, can't say I see the appeal either. Sorry desu.
>>
Apart from the initial leak, do we even have a confirmation that a miniset is coming? For all we know, it may disappear from existence just like the mythical gyarados event.

>>57063924

>>57063924
I've seen some decks that run one water type meat shield like normal articuno or lapras and rely on misty to occasionally let it attack, but it generally seems like a worse option compared to using pokemon with the correct energy type.

>Meltan
Whoops, right. Like Moltres EX and Liligant. My bad.

>You are late to the party, and none of this is game breaking.

Might as well state my train of thought since it isn't that great as much as it is interesting.

Psyduck is decent at annoying the opponent, and its 1 energy cost is colorless. It's somewhat possible to go Misty & waterless for Golduck since praying for two heads isn't the most mission impossible. From there you have the option to run it in a different mono-theme deck, in a way that you're not so inconvenienced when Misty fails you.
>>
>>57063905
Seems ideal in stage 1 Evo decks, pokeballs mean you have 4 copies of your basic and then you have 3 stage 1s.
>>
>>57063940
Gyarados event never had any data related to it and fell right at the same time as the Fire Type event
People should have guess it was some scrapped thing that was never happening
>>
>>57063959
Not to mention that you're all but guaranteed a lot more consistency as opposed to taking the multi-energy gamble; which can be fun, but only to a certain degree.
>>
>>57063924
I saw a gengar deck that used only psyduck and no Golduck. Countered my koga hard.
>>
>>57063968
So you may have a general idea of what I'm going for, albeit likely more convoluted. The lack of Persian usage is also concerning, as it has objectively the most devastating hand effect at present.
>>
>>57063975
>two energy to coinflip if you can remove one card from their hand
>significantly shittier redcard
>most devastating hand effect
nope
>>
>>57063975
I tried Persian with fearow and something else. didn't seem to work to well because of the low damage and health, along with not being a coin flip
>>
>>57063977
Most devastating =/= best

The balance keeps it from being meta but what I'm saying is that the discard pile is permadeath in this game compared to oh say YGO. 20 decks can easily have their whole plan ruined by one lucky reap.
>>
>>57063924
I fail to find the issue
It either doesn't pick energy because you didn't set it, or is a desired feature
>>
>>57063770
wouldn't this pull grass energy that you probably don't want
>>
>>57063989
Just don't set grass in your deck
>>
>>57063977
You're wrong. It's not red card. Red card sends shit back to your deck. Persian sends it to the graveyard
>>
>>57063989
The game only auto adds the energy based on the attacks in your deck, so a colorless grass pokemon like this doesn't add grass energy. Even if it did add it you could remove it anyway like >>57063990 said
>>
>>57063770
So you need two cards to get one card in play and most decks will feature 2x so you're out 4/20 for a stage 1 that does 40 damage
>>
>>57063986
>20 decks can easily have their whole plan ruined by one lucky reap
not really. every deck runs 2 copies of cards and basically every meta deck worth it's salt has a back up pokemon if their primary doesn't work out. You would need to not get lucky once, but two or three times before your really putting the opponent in a hard spot. aerodactyl does almost the same thing and also lacks any real meta relevancy with how inherently shitty coinflips are

It just hit me where the niche strategy has a home. Steel almost forces you to innovate due to the lack of representation. Misty is clearly not a win condition for the deck. But if you luck out, you now enable a fire assassin to work with steel's weakness. You can run this same logic replacing the Psyduck line with EX Starmie, at the cost of Staryu being useless.

When you have that many pokemon you're going to lose a bunch of games because you
>have a shit start due to getting a weak basic in your opening hand

>have a bricked hand full of evolutions you can't use
Most "comp" Pika EX decks have a much shorter list of mons which increases your chance of finding your EXs in your opening hand or in your pokeballs

I have 2 Crowns, 15 Immersives, 3 Rainbow 2*s, 11 PLANETA 2*s, and 2 FA Supporters (double fucking Blaine). The pull rate on the Rainbow 2*s is atrocious, they genuinely seem more rare than Immersives, which I thought would be the hardest cards to pull bar Crowns. I really how this is something they address going forward. I would complain about it by sending a message to the devs, but I don't want to brick my account.

>and the Primeape I wanted only started showing up in the packs after I successfully got my 2nd one from Wonder Pick
They need to address this too. While completing my pokedex, way too often would I be cucked from getting new cards from packs, and they would magically start showing up in packs casually after I got my 1st or 2nd from Wonder Pick. Maybe I should just write a letter to the devs.

Most newer card games avoid direct search cards because they waste so much time shuffling and cutting the deck. Pic related is how most do things now, effects that involve 0 shuffling.

While Pocket is a digital game and wouldn't really have this issue, the design philosophy is likely still in place.
