looks like zoo tycoon 2 tbqh
This has got to be one of the dumbest looking islands I've ever seen in my life, it makes literally zero sense in any capacity whatsoever. At least with Kitakami we have the National Park from past games in a new form and greatly expanded with Kitakami/Tohoku Region being a bigger thing. This is just Artificially Created Safari Zone the Island.
>>57111465>islands
I hate the wasted opportunity on Terarium, it could have been used to exemplify 4 different regions, which for various reasons we will never see in the main games, but it would have served to enrich the lore of Poke-world.Polar representing poke-russiaCoastal for poke-tropical indiaCanyon for poke-china (Wulingyuan)Savanna for poke-congoNot much was needed, just a couple of trainers with unique outfits telling a bit of Poke-lore, for example a girl in a Qipao selling cures made with the Parasect mushroom, a ranger in the savannah telling that in his region the Donphan are the size of a Great Tusk, a researcher in the polar biome saying that this cold is nothing compared to working in Tiksi, or finding Peonia in the coastal biome with a Copperajah explaining that this place makes her Pokemon happy because it reminds it of the home of its ancestors.Let's be honest, these countries will never have their own region, it was not asking too much to give them this small space and they avoided the main controversies (war, racism, xenophobia, religion).
>>57111465work for Disney
I get the need for diverse biomes to include a variety of Pokemon, but did they really need to make it not blend together at fucking all and look like retarded bullshit?
>>57111480Whatever as long as they made Cassandra a canon character.
>>57111480China will probably get a region eventually. We have more information on China or "The East" than any other region. Hell we've had references to these places already.>Guyana, Australia, China, Siberia, Antarctica, Minnesota, Pacific Ocean, California/HollywoodWe also had England and Paris at one point as well.
Friendly reminder that we still haven't seen the entirety of Japan. Considering that Galar, Kalos (discounting the scrapped southern bit), and Paldea are all united into a singular region/country it implies a few things about their world. Portugal/Spain have consolidated, probably due the Paldean Empire. Japan is in a feuding war states essentially that have all probably become independent countries with a sort of armistice peace agreements at this point, especially between Kanto/Johto, but have never reunited as Japan. United States is slightly split up, Hawaii still exists as a singular entity, but NYC/New Jersey have sort of consolidated into more of a City State. Orre (if you want to count it as canon) has conquered parts of California and Baja California/Sinaloa.
>>57111465>This is just Artificially Created Safari Zone the Island. That's the point in Montreal, they have a biodome that emulates different biomes to teach the public with animals and plants, using different devices to keep those climates isolated and functioning.
>>57111587That zoo also has a dome over it and very specific conditions/machines. It's also vastly smaller. I mean sure you can argue the tech in Pokemon is far higher than our world's, but that doesn't stop the sun from being the sun and the actual location of this. The Ice biome at least wouldn't exist, also there are literal mountains there. One of which is connected between two diverse biomes by a small ass wall.
>>57111442well we're in for some shit regions
>>57111523I don't dispute your information, but I don't recall any reference to Australia and California in the main games, unless we take as a reference Pokemon based on their fauna like Kangaskhan, Komala, and Heliodisk. And for California, the Pokestar studios.
>>57111599Also the Terarium is a dome, and as for how it works? Ancient cosmic turtle powers, I guess?
>>57111607Not him, but Ayer's Rock was mentioned in Ponyta's Pokedex at one point. Some of those he mentioned are from the anime however. I think the only regions we've heard of are Tiksi/Siberia, The East/China (multiple times), Ayer's Rock/Australia, India/Raichu, and Guyana/South America. And the United States as a whole if you want to count that. What's interesting is that Ponyta's dex also mentions the Eiffel Tower. So for all intents and purposes, Ponyta can leap over Prism Tower assumedly.
>>57111599>>57111624The real question, who the fuck in the US authorized a fucking dome safari zone with its own school and pokemon league, if it was Unova alone why would they bother? Half the region is an economic mess in reality.
>>57111635Well if they reconnected the Indian elephant, it would be a nice detail to see a Ponyta jump the tower in Pokemon ZA, at least seeing one playing in the half-built tower being the beginning of this myth.Theorizing that ZA happens in 1900 is just a theory, nothing to be taken seriously.
>>57111663My theory is that Z-A takes place in the future whereas Arceus was the past. Maybe something to do with Virtual/Augmented Reality, and we'll get into why Zygarde's true form is more robotic/gundam than anything. Who knows though, for all we know it could be during the Hundred Years War and Jeanne D'arc is saving Kalos from Galar using a Zygarde, and AZ is still sad and depressed. Could be from AZ and the war too for all we know.
>>57111442>What if the DLC biomes were teasers of new regions?Anon literally ALMOST ALL regions have at the very least ice/coastal/mountain biomes
>>57111639Please write your complaint in the form of a letter and deliver it to my secretary Scolipede.
>>57111686Orre citizen here, fuck your rules Unova, we do what we want. We have hovercraft motorcycles.
>>57111697and narcos, and road raiders, and almost no wild pokemon, and drugs, and pokemon turned into weapons, and zero roads or infrastructure, and no official league or gyms, and no officer Jenny, and...
>>57111713Hey, we were working on the gym/league thing last time we were in the spotlight, come on now. The rest I will give you. God I miss Orre, such a clusterfuck of a region, shame GameFreak will never use it and if they do it'll be completely different.
>>57111465>islandsWhy do retards reply if they don't played the games?
>>57111523I understand that a Chinese region was not possible for a long time due to political issues, but now that Tencen is associated with TPC, and Pokemon has its official releases in China, they are taking a while to make a game based on that country, even if it is still controversial they could make a game exclusive to the Chinese market.I even find it strange that Unite doesn't have more references to China and they have created generic islands for its background.
>>57111764Probably just trying to figure out what they want to do with it too, China is a large country and created just Machuko/Tibet for instance as a region would be a fucking disaster. East Coast China would be fine but then you run into issues with Taiwan/Real China and Hong Kong potentially too if you're gonna go down that far. It's just a mess of a region in general, it'd be like creating a Ukranian Region and then giving them Crimea or making that and Donbas exempt from being playable. At least we know some of China's natural Pokemon, albeit more extinct, such as Growlithe which is considered legendary (but it could just be revered as a legend because of some ancient myth rather than endangered there), and the Ruins Lads in Paldea where once from there, so there might be more potentially or was in the distant past.
>>57111442>regions>as in plural
>>57111639President Gumshoos promised to stop financing these leftist projects and to reinforce these walls in Orre
>>57111776I can think of a Legends game centered around the Great Wall, which runs through different biomes, using some sort of Pokemon representing the Mongols* to avoid controversy and would make Japanese historyfags ,who have a hardboner for Imperial China, happy.*A regional Bisharp line
>>57111764>>57111776TPC isn't Nintendo or game Freak though. I'll also add, there's so much chinese influenced shit in Pokémon in part because the entire Asian area features liberal borrowing of myths, legends and cultural norms and in part because Game Freak have no intention of adding it as a region any time soon. We'll get chinamon when they start doing proper third world countries like Senegal and India. We've all of Europe to trek through first and the first world areas of the US.
>>57111996>first worldIn that case give me Canada, Arabia, Australia, South Africainb4 that doesn't count because I hate darkies
>>57112021Taiwan is first world!??
>>57111624It kinda looks like Terapagos
>>57111737>Why do retardsbecause this is 4chan
>>57111624Of course it's a done it has fight back water pressure which can be as heavy as multi buildings stacked and a spherical shape is the best shape for this because it evenly holds all the pressure.
>>57112066>look their artificial sunAncient Cosmic Turtle Powers
>>57111686>Joe Bugden
>>57111442it’s an artificial island using some unexplained tera crystal liquid at the top of the dome because terapagos has an ability called teraform zero. tera crystals come from terapagos. tera crystals are used to make the island. terapagos is responsible for literal terraforming
>>57112127Implying that Therapagos travels like a meteorite through the universes and where it impacts it creates the conditions for life to thrive creating a paradox with Arceus and MewThat explains the types in their shell, they are ecosystems
>>57112021>west/east germanySo that implies that this isn't based on economic status and based on ties to Russia, therefore places like Albania were second world.
>>57112021This map is all sorts of wrong from a Cold War standpoint.
>>57112206That'd make sense if some of them had explainable ecosystems that didn't overlap. For instance, Ground/Rock or Fairy not having a specific one, Grass/Bug, etc. Also we've seen Pokemon in a variety of areas before too, for instance we've seen Slugma near Hot Springs before, just because its hot despite there being water there.
>>57112255First World is a term created by the USA to describe itself along with countries that share its policies. Second World were the countries in conflict with the USA, and Third World are those that are not involved in the conflict. All this economic crap came about because most of the third world countries have poor infrastructure, but if we use a purely economic term, Qatar/Singapore is far superior to the USA.
>>57111465It's a reference to Ryūgū or Dragon Palace from the Urashima Tarō tale. The underwater palace's surroundings had 4 sides, one for each season. That's why you can find a different form of Sawsbuck in each area.
>>57111465>Artificially CreatedThat's what it is. If you want actual dumb geography look at the game maps from XY, SwSh, and Paldea itself.
>>57112404Not that anon, but Unova is pretty dumb too, it has a whole ass desert, which at least you can argue is because of changes in time and ecosystems and destruction by NYC, but it's just a thing to get more diverse Pokemon in because they can't figure out a way to get certain types in. Pretty much every region going forward will have some type of desert and ice mountain.
>>57112382Oh, that's also the reason why it's underwater, a wasted opportunity to use a Lugia event.
>>57113157Lugia probably isn't seen much around there because of that thing actually. It only really appears during storms and chances are it causes those storms because of its powerful wings, which is why it chose Whirlpool Islands or various Caves to hide in. I imagine it would feel like it'd be a threat to the Academy if it was around, especially the fact that it'd be more easily seen with it being underwater and all if it did hang around there, which is why they threw it in North Paldean Seas instead. Either way, I do agree, it's a huge missed opportunity to have had a little underwater cave system for Lugia. But they also really need to establish what makes a Legendary a Legendary, it's not because it's near extinct, or is it a regional thing (like China with Arcanine), or is it because of a BST/Power threshold, or what. It doesn't make much sense, especially when we canonically have more than one in some cases like the other Birds.
>>57111442Why would it tease new regions when it's in Unova?
>>57111624You know they never did say what was underneath the terraium.
>>57114486Its the Academy, it's probably just a bunch of classrooms, gyms, dorms, battlefields, etc.
For what it's worth, the Coastal area was very clearly supposed to be based on Alola. All the Pokémon you'd find in Alola, including Regional forms, were there.Maybe a little nod to Alola = Hawaii, being a US/Unova state.I thought that was pretty solid worldbuilding that wasn't shoved in your face like this series sometimes does. The rest of the biomes seemed to be based on random wilderness areas of Unova, which is kind of funny because Unova focused far more on its cities than the little bits of wilderness you see on the routes. But after SV, it's obvious doing a city-heavy game wasn't ideal. Hence terrarium, and Legends ZA likely being condensed into a single segmented city.
>>57114486Secret sex room
>>57114530By that logic the desert region is Orre. Meaning that the snow region is Maine, and the rocky region is well the Rockies.
>>57114486They do actually, Penny explains it in her League Club dialogue.>"The academy has this resource development plant on one of its lower levels, way down on the seabed.">"They do all sorts of marine research down there, and they survey the seabed for resources, too!"
>>57114530>>57114559If that is the case:Coastal = AlolaPolar = Galar (It is the current northernmost region)Canyon = OrreSavanna = Kanto (Specifically the safari zone, which in turn is a reserve that imitates an African habitat, even though we do not have a single reference to Africa, I don't know if the word safari counts?)
