I can't tell you how many times I've set up my opponent's drudd to die to poison when they passed back so I could get first swing on their backline, then they pull double potion or double xspeed or whatever out of their ass and swap to their other drudd. Potion limit or ban, xspeed ban now that we have leaf, pokeball ban. Game instantly gets so much better.

The good snipers are Hitmonlee and Zebstrika, with electabuzz and Luminion being alright. Some pokemon just straight up can't attack into Druddigon without losing the whole game, 20 chip damage is enough for you to suddenly get one shotted by most EX pokemon.

Drudd is strong but you need to have a way around it on both the deck builder and the board, that’s what the meta is. It’s nowhere near broken. The only really ‘oppressive’ state is when they curve a Gren to sit behind it but that’s really not different than your opp curving a Gardevoir or a Zard EX, and you might still have a way around Gren if you can heal unlike the other two

You do need to be able to move fast and also cope with a live Gyarados/Golem/Whatever, but that isn’t a super restrictive meta game shift since most decks like having a long term win condition anyways. I think there’s also value in antimeta stuff that isn’t bad by itself but can fuck up Druddigon, Pika and Starmie with a Gio can get out early and absolutely throw a wrench in the deck’s rhythm. I’ve been messing around with Pidgeot EX/Double Sab as well and it’s also pretty tight.
