It's usually tethered to whatever events Niantic comes up with off the top of their heads, which are typically arbitrary (World of Wonders? Shared Skies?). The only legendaries I know for a fact they purposefully held off on were the gen 8 legendaries, so that they could start running them normally once Galar officially debutted. No clue why they refuse to run Mewtwo for more than two days out of the year (Shadow Mewtwo already got outclassed by Mega Rayquaza over a year ago), apparently they stalled for over a year on Ho-Oh so that they could save it for the season themed around "skies", I'm still surprised they were willing to run normal Kyogre and Groudon for a week each last season.

Are unown shiny rates persistent outside of the go fest/raids? I've read only certain letters appears to be shiny,also it seems the shiny rate is only active during in-person events

You get the normal amount of candies for catching (and maybe one bonus rare candy), but if you leave a pokemon at the spot (slot in whatever it is you want to leave in your third spot), then it will get up to 5 candies as other battle at the spot. You recall it remotely or whenever the spot goes away it will automatically return.

Overall, player engagement is probably as high as it has ever been this decade, maybe a little under peak 2018, but no one actually wants to show up. Niantic has been throwing out tons of new forms and mechanics, but most of the new forms are only good in GBL and max battles (Dialga/Palkia origin are okay in raids). The only new raid Pokémon that was genuinely groundbreaking for raids was Necrozma, but you can only utilize its power by fusing it with the extremely-rare Solgaleo or Lunala, and you need to do roughly 10 raids for the respective forms just to be able to fuse it.

Point being, the most recent content they've been pushing demands either constant consumption or huge groups of people, and people just aren't into it. It was fun when the only thing you had to keep in mind was what legendary was in raids that week, but we're at the point where they're not only doing multiple $5 ticket battle day events per season, but they're doing ticketed global events for 3 out of 4 seasons a year, let alone in-person events. Guess we're not doing Safari Zones anymore, especially not in the U.S. or Canada. Hope you did them in fall 2019 and spring 2020 (later changed to fall 2021), because I guess that's all we're getting.

Frankly, that wasn't even Sinnoh Tour; it was Hisui Tour. The only vaguely new things they added to the game were things from PLA. Half of the Tour was themed around Hisui, and there was basically nothing about it that had anything to do with gen 4. It did the bare minimum and nothing more (roaming legendaries, regionals in eggs, etc.). At least Hoenn Tour had a little bit of flair to it with the Primal Surges and more than just two legendaries in raids. With Kanto and Johto Tour, they at least tried to focus on the "Gotta Catch 'Em All" tagline the series originally started with.

Cool I guess, it used to be my motivator for going out as well. Not anymore and when I tried going back to not spoofing, I was reminded how shitty it was to walk with your arm raised and looking down on the screen. That on top of the game becoming utter trash that doesn't even put new species on the map etc.
It's just that much better to go out without gluing your eyes to the screen, to pay attention to your surroundings. Get some peanuts and feed some birds. Enjoy the sights and the ambience. Even better to cycle, which pogo punishes you for. And I love cycling.
Better to only play the game on your own terms, adjusting the time you play to suit yourself and not a pajeet who said that you should go out 14-17 specifically. Better to refuse to grind useless currencies like stardust and focus on what you can actually gain from the game - like shining legends, limited mythicals and community days haul. Things that don't become useless trophies that only litter your pokemon storage and serve absolutely no purpose in this shitty FOMO rollercoaster. Which is why Home is crucial. So that this dogshit garbage called Pokémon Go can have an actual use.
If you are happy with the digital carrot on a stick and are so pathetic that you cannot move your ass out of your basement without it dangling in front of your face, then I'm happy for you I guess. Better than not moving at all.

As someone that really wanted max battles to be good, I tried to make the most out of them as they released new Pokémon, even if I knew the gigantamax form would come out later, but the game mode just boils down to a more extreme version of "I can just duo this raid with my alt." and "the real challenge is getting the shitters to actually pull their weight". It was cool for a little bit having a game mode where DPS wasn't the only relevant factor... until you realize they still get enraged after 5 minutes, demanding some form of DPS to compensate.

They pretty much just made raids that are more annoying, require more to think about, are 2-3x more expensive to do, and for what? Unlike megas, no one really gives a shit about having the gigantamax forms. Even if you did care, you'll only ever use them to crush shitmons during weekdays and other gigantamax battles every few months, but only if they have a type advantage. I was hoping they would add legendaries to it before they added gigantamax, as a way to fight more of those per day, but they really gave us no other reason to do max battles. At least megas made cool raids easier to solo and duo, even if they were a nuisance to use before 2022.

The difference in stats is a lot smaller between IVs than it is between huge level gaps and species. IVs can sometimes matter if you're either on the cutting edge of what is possible in raids (e.g., soloing a Nihilego or Heatran) or the IVs are just so bad that a weaker species would be more desirable (e.g., a 1-star Salamence tends to perform worse than a 3-star Dragonite, same thing for a 1-star Conkeldurr and 3-star Hariyama respectively). PvP is the only place where you're likely to get shut down because you have a 13 or 14 instead of a 15, since tiebreakers care about the bigger attack stat.

Not that I need to remind you since you have been playing longer than me, but when you're quick-catching you can back out of the catch screen as soon as the ball hits the target, you don't need to wait for the ball to fall to the ground

The actual stat difference between a 15 attack and a 10 attack is minimal and is sometimes not even a downgrade in damage depending on fast move breakpoints.

If necrozma's shadow claw does the same damage regardless of 10 vs 15 attack then there's no reason to bother, plus most people aren't maxing their Pokémon anyways and can always raise the level more to get to the next breakpoint if necessary.

1 damage on a fast move ultimately doesn't make much difference as well in raids outside of trying to solo/duo something where you need every single point of damage you can, a level 20 account using STAB moves will add more damage than IV's or even leveling your Pokémon from 40-50 would.

In pvp though you have a direct competition against others, but honestly you can get away with not caring to much about stats there as well. High stat product mons will lose CMP vs high attack ones and can cost you just as many games as you win not getting farmed down. Sometimes you get the worst end of both, like my shadow gatr, that loses CMP vs every mirror and nearly every single annihilape, and still gets farmed down by opposing gatrs and other mons despite being high ranked.

The thing with shadow shiny availability is the dubious process in which the shadowmon has to first be in one of the go rocket leader’s battling team as the rotation switches every now and then. The way it used to be is that the only way to get a shiny shadow was from one of these rocket leaders. Nowadays with expanded availability you can say that this circumstance “shiny unlocks” them. After the shadowmon gets rotated out of the rocket leader’s hands, if it is available in rocket grunts or raids, only then it can be shiny, the exception being shadow legendary raids.

I recall when shadow gible debuted, it was only under rocket grunts, and so far has never been in Arlo, Cliff, or Sierra’s roster. Until Shadow Gible can be battled under their ownership… they can never be shadow shiny.
