Tera types aren't chosen in a vacuum though. They're often meant to cover a mon's weaknesses or complement its STAB moves. It's like taking the negative of an image and saying those are the most common colors.

Of course they are going to get a massive boost in usage since they often allow you to waste your opponent’s turn.A good opponent is rarely going to Fake Out a Pokemon who is naturally a Ghost type, nor will they Spore/Wow a Grass or Fire type respectfully.You also can bait in certain moves, like electric moves as a water type, only to suddenly become Grass type.
