Is there no actual good way to play 3rd gen on a 3ds?
>Open agb firm is pure emulation with nothing else
>emulators have graphical and audio issues
I just want to x4 speed them wtf
>>
>>57179692
how would you toggle speed up on a physical console? the 3d slider?
>>
>>57179704
LR
>>
>>57179704
Any of the 4 buttons you don't have on a gba I guess
>>
>>57179692
erm akshuly agb isnt emulation the 3ds can run gba games natively
to answer your question there is no actual good way, the intended method is oras which is basically a different game
>>
>>57179692
If you were a true fan you would play them legally.
>>
>>57179692
This is why even though I have a hacked 3DS and an R4i card I just emulate on my phone. Speed up is like crack, and I'm living under a bridge for it.
>>
>>57179704
the standard is "L2/R2" on an emulator, or "LZ/RZ" for the 3DS.

The problem with playing GBA games on anything official made after the GBA is that you're fucked in terms of functionality.
>Game Boy Micro
No e-Reader/e-Reader+, no GameCube/GBA cable so no using your Micro as a controller with the GB Player and no support for Box, Colosseum, or XD, no GB/GBC support, you need a unique link cable and unique GBA/Micro adapter if you're playing with people using a GBA, and you need a unique wireless adapter if you're playing FRLG/Emerald wirelessly.
>Nintendo DS/DS Lite
Absolutely no accessory compatibility, but some cross functionality when the appropriate GBA/DS games are inserted
>Nintendo DSi/DSi XL/3DS/3DS XL/2DS/New 3DS/New 3DS XL/New 2DS
Can't even officially play GBA games outside of the 10 Ambassador games and ports, and the former runs about as well as GBA cartridges did on the DS/DS Lite but without the cross functionality

Either start investing in original hardware (preferably an AGS-101) or get an Analogue Pocket.

How do you even dump the sav to edit it?
>>
>>57179692
>x4 speed
Not happening
The 3ds can't do that in hardware, and is too weak to even match x1 in software emulation on all games

Who tf is a true fan of GameFreak?
>>
>>57179692
I got a cheap anbernic and after I was done I transfered my save to the 3ds > poketransfer > pokebank > home
>>
>>57179692
Pretty sure you can speed up in mGBA. Maybe that's just for GB/GBC games though, I'm not sure.

Will there be a modified rom that has the music sped up so that it sounds like it would normally sound when using Fast Forward/Speed Up and does not distort?
>>
>>57179692
>Open agb firm is pure emulation with nothing else
No. It's a hardware mode, same as NSUI injects use for GBA games. Both use the GBA hardware built into a 3DS, so games run the same as on a real GBA.

>I just want to x4 speed them wtf
mGBA is okay but not perfect. The 3DS isn't powerful enough to emulate GBA at 4x speed. Get an Anbernic or whatever if you want that.

This, we literally live in the golden age of handheld emulators. Let your 3ds die
>>
>>57179692
Emulate on your phone or some other current handheld if you want speed things up. GBA emulation is still limited on official hardware.
If you're still stubborn on official hardware, get a hacked Switch lite.
>>
>>57181076
Are you genuinely asking how?
>>
>>57183472
Or rather use it for DS/3DS games. DS emulation is awesome but there isn't yet a handheld that's as comfy to play touch-heavy games on as an actual DS. And 3DS emulation is fairly demanding, has some delays or temporarily missing assets due to shader compilation, and there's still a few games that just don't run terribly well even on a high end phone.

me.
>>
>>57179692
mgba works fine for me you nigger, the speedup function works great too, though it does drain the battery fast.
>>
>>57180607
All of that is true but none of those are the reason why anyone would use a Micro or a DS. You can literally get all the functionality from a regular GBA, your post makes it sound like it's illegal to have more than one device that plays GBA games. They all do different things and serve a purpose. Even the holy AGS-101 is not a master of all. I have a dedicated e-Reader station.

There is no true "perfect" Game Boy model, you're always going to be missing out on something. There are even hardware differences on handhelds from batch to batch, some New 3DS XLs came with IPS screens and some didn't. The original GB CPU changed over time, and there are even GB games that don't run properly on anything after the original GB because the programming made use of specific hardware oversights unique to it. The closest thing to a correct option is an Analogue Pocket, but even that has form differences that may not be to one's preferences.

I'd be a Game Boy collector if I could, but this thread isn't aimed at collectors and hardware enthusiasts, it's for someone emulating a ROM and asking about 4x speed-up options.

>some New 3DS XLs came with IPS screens and some didn't.
most didn't
>The closest thing to a correct option is an Analogue Pocket
Sounds like the worst option. Overpriced chiniseum crap that doesn't even hold the cart properly. Nice try shill.
>>
>>57184701
Mine came with an IPS top screen
Analogue Pocket has
>FPGA accuracy and the ability to get edge cases that relied on specific hardware oversights
>Compatibility with the majority of official accessories
>IR support for the GBC
>The best display with numerous display options like the pea green GB, grayscale GB Pocket, blue GB Light, several GBC settings, GBA, and straight emulation
>Easy emulation with support for numerous cores (I even have every Pokémon mini on mine)
It's the best bet for an all-in-one, but I would never call it perfect because there are definitely form factor issues that can be brought up.

God I wish fuck ass legit Pokemon games on GBA didn't go for 200+, have zero idea why my fucking parents chose to give them away but they did.

New video games cost $60-$70. I don't have a Switch and keep buying copies of Ruby and Sapphire whenever I see them under $80. You could be normal and just get a flashcart or emulate. No need buy them, that's just for us autistic legitfags.
>>
>>57185462
plus if you really dont wanna be locked out of anything all you really need is 1 copy of one of any of the games and you can do everything else with just a flashcart and the respective peripherals

Legitfagging to satisfy my 'tism has been a costly endeavor. Really wish I had taken better care of the games I had as a kid. Had to buy RSE since I couldn't find my old copies anywhere, even after visiting home again and checking. Missing a bunch of my DS games too.
Only ones here that I've had since childhood are Gold, Crystal and Leaf Green. At least I still have all my old consoles and some link cables + wireless adapters for my GBAs.

i'm not ready to put my hand on fire in regard of buying old cartridges, retro market is AIDS, filled with repros trying to pass as original, SPECIALLY pokemon cartridges.
