In a book translated from Japanese, my son has found a character that look like Pikachu :- yellow- red cheeks - black tips- electricity power- Japanese But the French book has been translated in 1989 from a 1983 Japanese version ! I am pretty much convinced that there is necessarily a link between the first yellow character that looks like Pikachu and the real PikachuCan you help me :- did the creator of the Pokémon work for the Japanese publisher "Gakken"?- or did he simply sell drawings?- what is the original Japanese edition of the book? is there certainly the name of the authors?- or could the creator of the Pokémon have been inspired by this book???

Atsuko Nishida didn't work for Gakken. Also these are just common things in Japan with the red cheeks and yellow=lightning. With that said, the original concept for Nishida with Pikachu is very different than what Sugimori ended up redrawing. Being more similar to Raichu than Pikachu itself.

I do agree the former one I posted works the best however, with the brown hands/feet, the thinner tail, the tub lord body, the dumpy face that Raichu sort of gets.

At this point, I wish Raichu would just be Dedenne's evolution (never happening Gen 1 is too precious for instance), but at least that way Dedenne gets a little love and Raichu might be featured more often.
