Her dynamic with every person in her life or who left her life and how toxic it is showed that GF had the balls to actually write something that would hit close to home.

Nobody cares about realism because real people are very boring.
You can't have an interesting character that's realistic because real people are boring cowards with no ambition to be anything in life, you couldn't have any actual hero in any story if they were written under this assumption that realism is good for storytelling.
