They really picked the two lamest kinds of hardcore Pokémon fans to tell "you're the only legitimate kinds of Pokémon fans"
>>
Yeah, it really sucks how they cater to people who actually play the games
>>
>>57196386
who they don't cater to anon?
>>
>>57196400
See that's the thing you're fucking selfish. You want to be a "real esport" so bad you want the rest of the game to be bare bones as possible to funnel everyone into the dickriding wolfey line
>>57196407
Collectors, people who want Battle Frontier, people who like side content
>>
>>57196423
Admittedly pokemon is one of the oldest and well supported ongoing esports that I can think off. It's been around since the 90s.
>>
>>57196386
im neither of these and i just play these games for what they should be: JRPGs, that's why i liked unova so much
>>
>>57196442
Yet it didn't "need" to have everything warped around it until the 2010s
>>
>>57196456
That was 10 years ago. Times change.
>>
>>57196493
So you admit vgc hurts everything else around it?
>>
More like take the two most ridiculously tedious aspects of Pokemon and make them reasonable
>>
>>57196423
>Collectors, people who want Battle Frontier, people who like side content
collectors got so much shit what are your talking about? Pokemon with max, gmax, all the types you get, all the creme types.

BF people won't get shit because no one used it and it is objectively not a good feature. And I say this as someone who is trying to beat all of them

side content is always depending on what side content is for someone. But it is less than what it is used to be, like every hd rpg game.
>>
>>57196524
I'm not admitting shit. This isn't a debate, neither of us are gonna win prizes. You aren't gonna get a round of applause for catching somebody in a logical fallacy. We are having a conversation and I'm talking to you. Be a normal person for a second.
>>
>>57196448
>that's why i liked unova so much
I mean, gen 5 had the most jam packed first and "third" games.
>>
>>57196970
> no national dex
I want to be able to use and trade my collection more freely
>>
>>57197355
Okay explain how "times changing" justifies the bs then
>>
>>57196970
>BF people won't get shit because no one used it and it is objectively not a good feature. And I say this as someone who is trying to beat all of them
They could have easily just made the feature better. PWT is good example of a streamlined version of Battle Frontier
>>
>>57197587
if only PWT had the factory...
>>
>>57197594
It kinda did. It did have the swap after each battle feature but its rentals were more balanced than Battle Agency being based off needing other people to play it
>>
*didn't have the swap feature
My bad. Typo
>>
>>57196386
Why wouldn't they want to appeal to the biggest autists? thats where the money is
>>
>>57197578
I'm not trying to justify anything, I'm just pointing out that you're complaining about something that happened a decade ago according to you.
>>
>>57197876
It was over the course of a decade Einstein
>>
>>57196386
As a shiny hunter personally I think it's gay as shit that they've completely trivialized shinies and removed all rarity from them
>>
>>57197806
BBND were huge Autists and they told us to fuck off
>>
>>57199008
Those autists still buy the games, they haven't lost anything by telling them to fuck off
>>
>>57199002
Okay? Does that make a difference? It was a decade that ended 5 years ago. So theoretically you've got a problem with something that started happening 15 years ago. But that's still the problem. I honestly I don't even know what you're mad about because you're just kind of angry about a sort of vague issue that was possibly happening across a large span of time. I said I wasn't arguing with you because I don't even know if I disagree with you because you haven't really given any specifics about the actual problems. How about we take a step back and start over and talk about the details of the problem.

>one of the oldest and well supported ongoing esports

not as an esport
There were a couple of unserious tournaments in RBY to test the waters, and then the Video Game Showdown in 2008 that was the prelude to Worlds
TPC only really turned an eye on competitive into the 2010s, and they have been shit at it for the longest
Now there's big money in the VGC circuit but organization still looks amateurish, and all this time it's been more of a parasitic twin for the TCG circuit
And I haven't started discussing how shit the circuit is outside US and EU, even in Japan of all places they hate their structure which is very different to the West. And then on a whim, SEA countries who alway ran under the Western system were moved to shittier versions of the JP circuit
Also people still question whether it counts as an esport because of stuff like hax

I see lots of people in the grassroots wanting to do things well but lacking the tools for that, hands tied by the rules and decisions from above etc. Because they're "volunteers" judges are paid with TCG merchandise they have to sell later which makes it a nuisance for anyone not already a store owner. Oh and they have a culture of being fucking untransparent and withholding info for the sake of it. I've lost count on how many times players only learned stuff we should know because a kind judge discreetly leaked it. It's a miracle they revealed the dates and locations for 2025 and 2026 so quickly because 2024 was like 3 months in advance to plan a trip as long and expensive as Hawaii.
>>
>>57199006
They absolutely haven't in the slightest and no more than hackers on WT had done since the 3DS hack tools got added.
This is the difference between rolling ONE (1) pokémon at a time vs rolling FIFTEEN (15) at a time. Maybe move slow as balls to keep the "magic" if so. Dovetails nicely with engine speed in older games to boot for the authentic childhood experience.
>>
>>57200197
It wasn't an esport because nobody called it an esport because we hadn't found a name to make competitive video games sound like something normies could tolerate yet.

The rest of that is fair, I honestly don't know a lot about the sweeping history of competitive pokemon. Just the fact that it has existed for so long in an official capacity still puts it in top 10 if not top 5 best supported esports.

On that note, whats your definition of esport here.
>>
>>57196386
>fuck everyone who doesn't actually appreciate the (little) work we put into our games
You really only have yourself to blame after gen 5
>>
>>57196400

> "Expecting us to pay for all the games is pay to win"

What ever happened to Red, the strong, silent type? That was a Kantoian
