Roaming pokemon would actually be pretty cool in a 3D or open world setting where you can see them in the distance and chase after them.

Of course the open world would have to be fun to traverse to make the chase and catch fun. They dipped their toes in this with the the Birds in Crown Tundra and the Genies in Arceus, but they could do better.

Damn that wouldnhave been pretty cool. I don't thin SVs engine could keep up with it though. With how touching any pokemon sent you into battle chasing them would have been like running through a mine field.

They dropped the ball by not letting us use pokeballs while mounted. But I agree, I can't remember much about the details but I remember not enjoying trying to track them down.
