ALL they had to do with Teras in SV was give the Pokemon that crystal effect and a type-coloured glow, would have been easier for GF to model and would have looked a lot cooler. And it means we would have gotten proper Delta Species-esque looking cards instead of the retarded abominations we've gotten. What a goddamn waste.

It’s actually only 690 but he’s using scalper prices instead of msrp. Still pretty shit tho but this the whole reason I refuse to play scalper prices, it’s the equivalent of buying a 1 dollar scratch off ticket for 10 bucks, just absolutely retarded shit and I can’t believe all of these people spending 150 on etbs right now like wtf.

Operation Max Starfall

The price of Pokémon cards has risen to inappropriate amounts due to multiple attack vectors on the hobby.

In order to counter it we must begin multiple initiatives to push back.

E-mails & written letters must be sent to the Pokemon company and card printing facilities asking for more reprints of Prismatic Evolutions.

Secondly e-mail must be sent to the Pokémon Company of every discord using botting to acquire products. E-mails must be sent to every online retailer.

We must all email news outlets identifying the problem individuals and groups and put as much normie spot light on it as possible.

Poketubers pumping the market and dumping the market must be reported to a regulatory commission so investigations can start on the unregulated pokemon card market.

Do not buy any sealed product on the secondary market what-so-ever. Many of these products have been searched, metal detected or x-rayed. If not just resealed entirely. Let the scalpers who maxed their credit cards hoping for a quick flip eat a couple months interests until it backfires horribly for them.
>>
>>57210311
There's a far simple solution:
ban brown people from buying pokemon cards.
>>
>>57210328
This might be controversial but you should have to show proof that you are a biological father of a child to buy sealed pokemon cards and there should be limits to prevent reselling. TPC should control the secondary market by selling singles directly to consumers. Adults can buy singles and trade them like shitcoins all they want but packs should be for kids. This is the only way to save the hobby long-term.
>>
>>57210340
>you should have to show proof that you are a biological father of a child
That would prevent everyone in these threads from buying any.

They could just limit purchases to 2 boxes per physical address. But that's asking too much from the multi billion company. There's also the issue of LGSes just pocketing everything to resell on ebay (which you'd think would get them blacklisted but it actually doesn't).

>>
>>57210377
Based, they should draw a penis on every ETB to ensure only people that want to open it buy it
>>
>>57210379
We would just buy singles. Plus adults can buy reputable "mystery boxes" which imo are way less gambly than packs because you're virtually guaranteed to get a hit that's worth about what you're paying for minus the labor. Packs aren't exactly gambling for kids because they like the shitmons.

normies noticed during covid. Pokemon is risky to get into now long term. There's no guarantee people will like it in 20 years. There's lots of shit boomers liked that never really caught on with millennials.

The Rocket Set is getting rid of regular reverse Holos, all reverse Holos will either be Pokéball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, or Master Ball. This means there will be a standard print version of a card plus an additional 4 reverse Holo Ball variants.

Pull rates for Prismatic Evolutions look awful. I'm seriously considering cancelling my ETB and other shit I got for MSRP when I preordered last year.
>>
Realistically, is there any way to get muh Moonbreon without breaking the bank? I skipped on ES because the pull rates were such ass, and I just never got around to buying singles. Work had me so cucked back then. Do I just have to stalk ebay for someone selling a cheap ungraded one? Everything is fucking slabbed. I don't mind if it's a little damaged or whatever - I'm uninterested in grading and reselling so imperfections are okay.
>>
>>57211237
Not a chance, people are too hyped up right now. I would avoid buying online from sites like ebay for now because there will be a shit ton of scammers out there out to get you.
Your best bet is to go directly to a store or convention and haggle down the price a bit, most sellers will do it or maybe accept trades as part of the payment. This is what I will do actually.
>>
>>57211237
Buy 2 booster boxes for ~$120 and wait til they get to around $1000 then sell it and buy the Umbreon with that money. You just got an Umbreon for $240, congrats.
>>
>>57211255
I'll give that a go. Maybe some of this vintage shit I have will give me some trading mileage.
>>
>>57211287
Yea, I actually sold most of my vintage stuff last month and only kept my favorites. Most zoomers nowadays don't actually want them because let's be real, modern SIRs look much better, and on art alone they are way more collectible.

Just take the stuff you want to trade with you. A lot of conventions will even have a dedicated trade night where you can just connect with other attendees to swap cards without dealing with vendors.

If you are in the North East US this show happens every 3-4 months and is swamped with Pokemon card vendors, I got pretty much every time. Pic related is one of my pick ups from there. Next one is middle of February.

I've said it for years. Topload your cards, fuck binders. Buy english you live in a western market. buy for quality above all else. for the difference between a PSA 9 to a PSA 10 can be 4x-10x times the value. dont overspend in the bubble. check out this umbreon pop count, its ridiculous and questionable in pricing on the secondary market and dont buy in.
They hate my advice, but in the end they come like a lizard, crawlin on its belly knowing i was telling the truth.

>>
>>57211656
I've heard this before, and while I 100% get not trusting westerners not to leak your shit, it does seem a little unbelievable I suppose.
Where does that explanation originate?
>>
>>57211656
I have already stated this previously. but the English card unironically looks better. the Japanese one is too shiny and distracts the view of the Pokémon, which is supposed to be the center piece of the card. alas, we have some members of the Pokémon community that insist that the Japanese to English crossover be exact, and the people who make decisions at TPCi must be asleep at the wheel.

That pic is just bulk, those cards are like a few cents each. Check Pokedata first before you buy anything, but most importantly don't collect because you want to invest, collect the cards that you actually like.
Since we're in a bullrun, prices are going to be inflated and will crash probably next year, so if you're going to invest big money, doing it right now seems like a bad idea, unless you can get stuff for MSRP, but good luck with that.

went to my local card show for the first time and got 3 cards (poliwhirl 151 not shown). Got Rosa for 185, miriam for 28 and poliwhirl for 17. Not too bad for my first adventure out.
I thought they'd do 15% of tcg prices but most of them were doing full market price of ebay with barely any discounts. I tried to get the gardevoir exs but everyone was selling it for 55 dollars and don't get me started on starmie v. Starmie V was going for 75 dollars for some reason.

Some people are weird, I have even seen sellers say that they charge more than online because it cost them money to get there (these were at small local shows which maybe cost like £10-20 for a table).

I usually scan a tables stuff to judge whether they are being fair with their prices and if they aren't just move to the next. Look out for people that aren't being silly and try to talk a bit you will probably see them again.

To read and understand these furigana texts, you'll need at least 5 years of background as a weeb.
You'll have to watch a bunch of anime to build up vocabulary.
After that you can use your hiragana/katakana knowledge to read these.
(After this, you can read most of the raw untranslated manga as well, since most of them written with furigana. It's just a bonus though.)

>>
>>57212322
take this for example. base set booster goes for 300k. why does it go for 300k? Charizard. Charizard in a PSA 10 goes for about 300k. there was one that undersold for 125k recently. but that's just an outlier. the box matches the price of the chase card most the time. people are not opening booster boxes because they want "The Experience". they are doing it for the chase card. there are some tradeoffs. not all boosters are exactly the same price as the chase card. like you could have a 10k card, but the booster is 2k. you weight out your odds, and you either buy it for 2k, risk it for the biscuit, or just shill out the 10k. these are the contemplations of your big spender collectors. Most the time if the card is like 1k. and the booster box is 500 bucks. you really think they are just going to risk it for the biscuit at that level? nah they are straight buying the damn card.
I have been collecting for a long time. I know the situations people go through. its never about sealed product. people will pay more for the security of knowing they are getting exactly what they want like 7/10 times. sealed is based on the chase. get the chase and hold it. dont hold sealed it just takes up way too much damn space anyways.

This doesn't work for the vast majority of sets. You sound like you just got into invoooosting, and only know base set and the most recent ones.
>>
There's a crash or correction coming to the market. The pricing is far exceeding the average person's ability to pay. Investors and sellers can pass the potato around for a while maintaining the price but it'll eventually come down. Or you just have a bunch of people spending $150 on an ETB that yields less than $10 of cards. I can't imagine people wanting to experience that feeling more than once.
>>
>>57212372
It's reaching a critical mass soon I'm sure. At this point it's like 90% scalpers sorry I mean investors sitting on sealed while none of the kids who actually play this or people who just want to open something can afford to do anything
>>
also you should understand if you are along time collector is that there are people that buy tons of shit that can afford to. >>57209663 like this dude. they will open 10k packs like Deriums Pokemon. they will take the best of the best cards and grade them then sell them for profits and flood the market with singles. there is a 1/3 hit rate in booster packs. its fundementally cheaper and better to buy singles than buy boxes. since you could have 5000 packs of sealed. then 1/3 of those are hits. so 1666 packs will have a holo. most the time you will get like 2-4 good hits per booster box. so lets be generious and just say its always going to be 4.
so out of 5000 packs you will get 416 relativly good hits. now thats not even the chase card. chase cards are a 1/6 chance most the time. so out of 5000 packs you are looking at maybe 69 S tier pulls.
now you can either just straight up buy chase cards like most people and stop being retarded believing in the sealed myth. or believe in the sealed myth. take up a bunch of space. but on big scale pokemon cards are predictable. it IS a 1/3 hit rate for english. i been collecting for a long time. dont test me.
>>
>>57212385
Everyone knows that buying singles is better. But in my experience I'd rather sell old sealed booster boxes or etbs than single cards. To each his own, space wise it's without doubt worse of course.
>>
>>57209663
Seeing something like this makes me wonder why I even try. Here I am trying to buy just a few and this guy is sitting on a thousand.
>>
>>57212391
when you see on reddit people posting their sealed collection, it looks really fucking impressive, then if you do the math and realize they may only have like 10 S tier hits in their boxes and the rest are scraps, it really puts into perspective how much their collections are really worth.

>>
Like this one for example. looks expensive. looks like there so much there. but its a farce. maybe 1500 to 2k packs. but lets do the math. 1500 divided by 1/3 is 500 hits. if we do the 4 hits per booster statistic its around 166 good hits. and 1/6 per booster box hit rate, theres probably only 7 S tier cards in that entire collection.
>>
>>57212425
Its not hard to get, that applies to plenty of nice looking cards.
>>
taking up all that space for 166 good hits, and 7 s tier hits. sealed is a joke, buy singles.

Poke/Master Balls are actually really easy to pull, you'll definitely get a lot of those.
For the Eevee SIRs, I've only seen them come out from God Packs, and there is like 2 or 3 streamers that did it.

Im guessing 35k to 40k in the long run. so many people think they are 1 in a million with 10 evolving skies booster boxes. there could be so many. that's why i always criticize the price.

I always hear this rebuttle. there are probably 50-100 active listings for this card on eBay. in 5 years there will be 50-100 active listings on eBay. there is no short supply. there is no demand. the pricing is artificial.

>>
>>57212214
10 per account is literally pointless. They should make the limit per physical address.
>>
>>57212698
The stamp in the card makes the ETB way more valuable, it means that you could get a good promo card, grade it and possibly get a 10. It also has 2 additional packs inside on top of what the regular ETB gives you, so that means extra chance to get good cards inside, which you can also grade. It's all a big fucking casino, but that's what make people want to buy it. Some people sit on them expecting it to gain value in a few years. To be honest, you can't go wrong with PC ETBs if your goal is to sit on seal product, but they're also hard to get at MSRP because of bots.

not even close. graded cards have already been exposed as bs.
>>
>>57213240
Grade 10 is really really hard to get, specially with english sets, that's why cards jump a lot in price between a PSA9 and a 10.
However, PSA is known for giving bullshit grades to cards all the time, but the investors don't care, they only want the number 10 to appear and they'll happily pay x100 the price.

I need to find something new to spend my money on. i have a bad feeling about where this hobby is going between the empty store shelves and see LGS price gouge and blame it on market conditions. i love opening cards, its a new dopimine rush since i dont drink anymore. but im not spending $100 on a Japanese booster box (10 packs).

Those are mine, graded then a few years back. I noticed after opening some japanese movie decks that the placement of the holo patterns are almost the exact same for each holo in the deck.

I got back into Pokemon cards about a year ago. I loved cards of all kinds as a kid.
I was debating between pokemon and magic.
I ended up going to pokemon because I still play the games, really like the franchise a lot and have remained familiar with it. Where as Magic I've come and gone in waves so I'm less familiar and have less nostalgia for it, but I love the art (usually) on most of the cards. When they aren't doing universes beyond bar a few exceptions, I think it can be great.
I'm still considering jumping back to MtG but I know thats also experiencing a bit of a boom as well right now.
I'm diving in regardless for the Final Fantasy set though even though I dislike the idea of Universes beyond.
>>
>>57213465
nice! you even opened them yourself? pic related is almost as good as yours and is going for $1,200 but really they are priceless.

Yeah its annoying that its going to be over 50% of the release in MtG going forward.
I've never bought one in my life. Swore for a while I never would after I saw them butcher Lord of the Rings, a world I love. But I know Square is not going to let them race or gender swap known Final Fantasy characters for prog points, so I'm gonna bite the bullet and go in on that one since I love FF as well. It'll be the only Universes beyond set I buy anything of.
Just seems dumb that they will make all UB sets legal in play, and make that 50% of the product. It kind of destroys the "theming" of the game.
I don't know how much the overall player base cares though, but it does bother me.

Depends on the art.
Im on the fence with some like Lightning and Sephiroth.
I really love the Kefka one though.
They've only shown like 5 cards so far though.

The collectors are leaving and taking hiatus from the hobby.
Leave the scalpers and botting discords to reconcile this amongst themselves.
Enjoy holding Prismatic Evolutions, the set that has had most of the hits stolen from the factory.

If you buy from the same vendor on tcgplayer is the shipping one cost or will it still be per card?
Buying singles from there seems to be my best bet as my LCS are mostly mtg and sports.

I thank god everyday I don't have Eeveelution or Poke Girl autism while cursing him for my Digimon autism.
>>
>>57213858
Yes, typically shipping becomes more efficient the more cards you order from the same vendor. If you're buying a bunch, TCGplayer actually has a pretty handy "efficiency" calculator. I've only used it once and it seemed a little funky with two of the higher tiers (one that, presumably, should've been cheaper was slightly more expensive), but I think it works pretty well in general in figuring out what's the cheapest way to order everything in the cart.

It's a bit obtuse, though. The easiest way is just to add whatever cards you want in the quality you want, then in the cart select the cart optimizer thing. It'll figure out which vendors have which of the cards you want in the qualities indicated and the cheapest way to organize them all.
>>
>>57213865
I understand the Eeveelution autism. They are a cute pokemon and theres literally almost one for everyone.
Sorry for your digibrain.
>>
>>57213849
We've been over this before with evolving skies and fusion strike. Same factory leaks, different time. Pokemon cards are seen as a commodity now and are treated as a speculative asset by the majority of people who buy them. Doesnt mean (you) think that, but the broader market does. I used to be completely against it just like yourself, but I decided if immoral actors are profiting off imbeciles and the cycle never seems to stop I might as well take a slice and embrace the darkness. Surf the kali yuga.

>3 binders dedicated to making a 1-per pokedex of whatever mons i accumulate along the way from ripping packs/childhood collection
>Just got a smaller binder for random FAs i get
>Planning a binder to start hunting my faves, just gotta find one I like
>seriously considering one for every trainer/energy [no FAs for sanity though i might add FA stadiums]
This last one actually started as a big cope cause my ass is never gonna be able to complete a full wotc e-series collection but I really love those card layouts so I was gonna settle for just trainers/energies from those sets. I also really like the obnoxious pink ace specs and I just love the Fucking Contraptions they come up with for the tcg, and the really old crusty 90s cgs

Based, I'm considering Porygon and Magnemite for my faves binder but I always feel iffy about KANTOOOOOOOOO. I'm thankful most of my faves are gen 5+ shitmons nobody cares about but replaying FireRed and PMD Red, and shenanigans in Pocket have got me appreciating gen1s more than I ever did as a kid despite growing up with them somehow
