You know, I kinda like the idea that Lacey’s mom is someone we haven’t met before, if only because it would kinda feel cheap to have Elesa be Lacey’s mom. Granted they do KINDA have similar bangs in the front and Lacey’s hair clip things do sorta resemble Elesa’s bw2 outfit, but Elesa is a famous model and trendsetter and Lacey lives in Nimbassa city and is a teenager. I’d be more surprised if she didn’t imitate Elesa’s fashion at least to some extent. Plus, Lacey would have probably been born already by the events of Black and White, and Clay and Elesa’s interactions don’t particularly strike me as romantic there. Granted, the doylist explanation is that they hadn’t come up with Lacey yet and hadn’t thought to pair Elesa and Clay together, but still. I feel like having Lacey’s mom be Yancy’s mom would be more interesting. Actually, it’d be kinda funny if Lacey’s mom is like … Elesa’s hitherto unmentioned sister or something, since that would make Elesa and Clay in-laws, which would be, in my opinion, a hilarious dynamic.
