so I opened an old box from my parents attic and found 2000 1st edition cards. are these things worth anything if they are all mint condition. I hear all kinds of stuff about these grading places and it seems like a massive scam. how much would it cost to send them in and have them graded is it worth it?

>>57213472>I hear all kinds of stuff about these grading places and it seems like a massive scam.yeah, pretty much. only card grade that's worth a damn is a PSA 10, and if it's been sitting in a box for 25 years and sent to them through the mail, it's probably not going to get a perfect grade. and even if your card is *literally* perfect, they might not give a shit and just slap you with a PSA 8 or 9 because they have to keep the population of PSA 10s low for them to maintain their valueand then sometimes shit like this happens because they just don't give a fuck>are these things worth anything if they are all mint conditionhttps://www.pricecharting.com/console/pokemon-junglekeep in mind you actually have to *sell* the cards, which is easier said than done. there are a lot of listings on ebay right now for PSA 10 jungle cards. if it was a seller's market, there would not be>how much would it cost to send them init depends on what plan you go with and what the declared value of your cards are. if the DV is high enough, you'll have to go with a more expensive plan. if your DV is too low and they end up thinking it's worth more, they send you a bill and hold your card hostage until you pay up. not fun.

If they were graded properly, then yes some of them would be worth money. I can almost guarantee you that they will not get PSA10s, likely wont get PSA9s either. 10s are exceedingly rare for older cards for a variety of reasons, a lot have manufacturing errors such as scratches, fucked corners, or uneven borders, plus they like to keep the amount of those down to retain value across the board. 10s are where the real money is, sure you can probably get a couple hundred for even 8s across the board, but also rare, a lot of collectors likely have a bunch of them already.
>>57213689>>57213736>>57213770thanks guys I knew there was some shady shit behind all this grading stuff. my mom bought them in the 90s and kept them separate from the ones we actually played so I know they would be 10s if these grading places were legit. I got unopened Pokemon 2000 mew cards a huge pikachu card and rainbow island cards too all unopened. but I have seen people send unopen stuff and it gets graded 8. fuck it seems like such a shit fest bros I do not want to get fucked over by these people. >>57213736this
