She also tends to put up a tough looking, deadpan, ice queen demeanor like her trainer does despite clearly having a feminine look going for her. She wears a tattered, worn out Muscle Band like a scarf, and she has large, bulky lower arms similar to that of a Tinkaton-- her arms getting big and bulky around the part of the arms where the black part of the pattern comes in while her upper arms are more normal Zoroark's arms is a good example of this.

For context, she didn’t like the service last time we came. We eat as normal and then at the end the servers do the fucking happy birthday clapping thing that I was COMPLETELY BLINDSIDED by because I genuinely thought that she was just asking the manager a question, I thought this was completely normal behavior for her. For Koa, destiny can be both a guide and an obstacle. There's the destiny that people make, for example, Koa's dad having his own intentions for his future, or whatever may happen in the story. Circumstances that change your life. Intentions and plans, both your own and those of others around you. But then there's the kind of destiny that's out of human hands: the weather, luck, coincidences, and the tides of battle. We can only lend ourselves to the whims of this branch of fate to be in tune with the world. For Koa, the Tapus represent this kind of fickle fate. Only through prayer and worship can the people of Alola ever hope to placate these capricious impulses of destiny.However, for Koa, there's one thing that can defy fate: the power of the heart. So I'm not entirely sure how to phrase this, but I wanted to pick some brains about pokemon and moves. In the games and such they only have 4 moves, but is that really how they ought to work? Do you think a pokemon should be able to do all the moves it's ever learned or should it be limited to 4 at a time?

>>57227305Well, this is a world-building question and it depends on what you for your story. - Are Poke'mon a bit simple-minded in your story and can only handle four commands well at a time?- Can a Poke'mon that has had extensive expert training utilize a list of moves, but you're only actively training four of those options at a time?- Is your setting a little looser with the restrictions and treat moves like D&D spell slots and Poke'mon can use weak moves as much as they want (cantrips), but powerful moves are limited to a couple uses a day (like Hydro Pump)?

So every battle that happens, it has a "reminder" or a strategist nearby so it can exploit and win the fight. On its own, it has to rely on instinct and fighting experience, and it may not gather enough focus/courage to use its best moves.I imagine Pokémon moves work like the Battle Palace: a Pokémon has some knowledge, but it has to "click" in order to use its full potential.

A Heatran and a Happiny can both use Fire Blast by tapping into the same wavelength, but one is obviously going to be much more potent a result than the other. Some mons instinctually pick up on these wavelengths, while others need to be instructed on how to harness them. Like, say, instructed through an audio recording. An audio recording played on a disc. But maybe the disc is fragile and can only maintain the integrity to play that wavelength once. See where I'm going with this? Without a little boost from a performance-enhancer to sharpen the mind, a user can only channel that wavelength so many times before it's expended and needs to be recharged with a good sleep or meditation--this is how Fire Blast and Ember have different power pools despite drawing from the same base element.A Water-Type Attack isn't just the blunt force trauma of getting blasted by a fire hose, it's also suppressing an opponent's ability to channel their own energy effectively until they're physically incapable of battling anymore. Dark-Type attacks aren't just effective against Psychic-Types because it hurts to have your hand bitten by a big rat or dog, but because Dark-Type energy not only shuts down an opponent's ability to channel Psychic Energy, but completely nullifies it too. Forgetting Bite doesn't mean you forget how to chew your food, you just unlearn how to focus Dark energy around your teeth to pierce through steel or tear into the ethereal.

The lack of a fully defined idea of how the move system works outside of the games pretty much lends this to become part of that "don't worry too much about it" mentality they have. I personally have the Pokemon set with a handful of moves that they outright specialize in and can do special variations of while other moves they can use but are less proficient/potent with. But otherwise there is no hard cap on the latter. And speaking of which I need to update the Pokemon section of Emily's bio to reflect certain recent 'specialization' choices.
