What's your favorite generation artstyle wise?
>>572319235 and 2
>>572319236
>>57231923>they had to damage control for BW so hard they scrapped Gen 5 Hoenn and made B2W2The Gen 6 style is fine but its a shame we only got Unova in the Gen 5 style.
>>57231940Yeah. It sucks that we didn't get ORAS but with even uglier graphics.
>>57231940>they had to damage control for BW so hard they [headcannon]
>>57231940Gen 5 oras was never planned you mongoloid
whys there so much pushed gen5 shit lately?
>>57231940during gen 5 they asked Masuda about gen 3 remakes and he said he wasn't interested in doing them
>>57231944>Hoenn mons got new sprites in Gen 5>Dive gets brought back>Clearly Hoenn was next in lineI mean im not saying it was guarenteed but its not impossible either
>>57231923I plead the 5th.
>>57231923Not a generation but specifically the LGPE artstyle.
>>57231923i don't like the overreliance on 3D for Gen 5, as far as I'm concerned the series could've stayed in Gen 4 visually forever
>>57231923Crystal and HGSS really
>>57231923Gen 4 and 6
The gen 2 in my nostalgia fried mind but not the actual gen 2.
>>57231940>>57231959Another curiosity is that the entire RS soundtrack is in B2W2. Not sure what that's for but it was more likely for testing than a scrapped hoenn
>>572319232
>>57231923Not too surprised no one has said Gen 3 lol. If you like the more modern spritework you probably prefer 4 or 5, and it's not quite limited enough to be charming like Gen 2.
>>57232168It's my #2, but I like the pokemon sprites in gen 2 better
>>57232168gen 3 overworld has always been the ugliest to me
>>57232168I just don't care to post in a bort ego stroke thread
>>572319234. I can't stand Gen 5s long stick limbs, the overuse of 3D in the overworld and the tweening Pokémon sprites. They're good games, but I hate how they look.
>>57232982They aren't good games and sales (reflex of public demand, of public criticism, and of quality) prove it.
>>57232991fuck off retarf
>>57232991My opinion won't be influenced by your pointless genwarring, shut the fuck up retard. Don't ever reply to me again.
>>57232982agreed except for the "they're good games" part
>>57232049This exactly
gen 3 and 4 (Emerald and HGSS, to be exact)
>>57233001hello, I am replying to you again, please deposit 3 seethe tokens
>>57231923Gen 5, especially in battle
gen 4-5 was when the artstyle peaked. I wish we got a gen 3 remake in this style, then it wouldve been perfect
>>57232168Gen 3 is my favorite. The color pallet, the environmental effects, no fake "3d". So kino
>>572319232 and 32’s art style has so much soul but 3’s pokemon sprites are the highest quality in-game depictions of Pokémon we’ve ever had
>>57231923>overworldGen 4>battleGen 5, the animations can be janky sometimes but I love how the sprites lookSpecial mention to Gen 6 for the reflections, route 120 at night in ORAS is especially beautiful
>>57235159That's just wrong. Gen 3 had tons of wonky ass sprites like Milotic and Sableye
>>57232168Gen 3 isn't bad, but it's very flat and samey. There's no location in the gen 3 games which is really iconic or distinct.Gen 2 is similar, but I think the lower fidelity of the system lets it get away with a lot more
>>57235924I wouldn't say that, the falling ash route and desert definitely stand out as visually distinct from the rest of "light green grass route" that non-ocean hoenn mostly is. To me at least, the most iconic part is the underwater areas though, none of the other gens have something like that.
>>57231923Gen 4
>>57236371The ash route maybe but the desert is basically just a massive block of a single colour with no features or landmarks. The geography of the region makes sense and they clearly put a lot of thought into how different biomes connect together, but the visual design of the world lets down that ambition by overlapping too much on tiles and pallets, IMO.
>>57236416That's fair. I was judging it as distinct from the rest of the region, not distinct as a standalone map. Most routes fall back on that one grass tileset with relatively minor alterations, like the yellowish rocks near meteor falls or the taller grass around fortree.
