>>57235560These are arguably different questions. The objectively best game is not necessarily the most newbie friendly one.Honestly, I would give a complete rando Let’s Go. They’re easy to understand, focus more on the collecting aspect, don’t suffer from later gens oversized dex, and are full of the more recognizable Pokemon. If I knew this rando played JRPGs but had never touched Pokemon, I’d probably suggest Colosseum instead.

If everything's subjective, why are some games always seen as great and others not? Like, many will say Mario 64 is a masterpiece while Pokémon Rumble U sucks, but what if i find Rumble U more fun? Maybe critics' tastes influence their reviews, and the internet just repeats it. Objectivity is stating facts like "the game runs smoothly, lasts X hours" not ridiculing something right away. This may be where the search for objectivity in this art comes from

Colosseum is better suited for people already fans of the franchise, people new to video games might find it alittle unfair in difficultyExplorers of Sky’s gameplay is more niche and the intensity of dialogue will be a turn off to a lot of new playersHGSS is too obtuse in directing the player to their next objective, people new to video games will get lost and frustrated atleast once. Any other game isn’t worth considering as the best starting game, though I am also assuming the new player has enough to patience to sit down for 10 minutes to learn how to use an emulator.
