I pick the girl because I like cute things. The dressup options in later games is always fun.I'm confident in my sexuality, and my enjoyment of adorable things is a non-issue.

Pokemon is the only game that I self insert into so I always pick boy. All the other games I play I pick a girl so I can stare at them.

I don't even pick girl characters but I don't get why immersionfags always have to make every game about self-insertion. When you play Mario you don't self-insert as an italian plumber. You just move around a video game character with your buttons. Same with Pokemon. The game doesn't even make a real attempt at being "immersive" beyond a couple of meaningless text box options in the beginning of the game that have no real effect on anything.

I can however understand some not feeling Pokémon does enough to give immersion into the role or just not wanting the see the player characters as them, in which case I can understand treating choosing between the male and female option like choosing between two characters.

For example, I made my Scarlet girl resemble Chisato from Lycoris Recoil and even named her Chisato.
