>>57249237Don't take it as an insult, I enjoy that story, mainly because of the mix and fanservice of different realities, but I can't find another word to describe works with these elements that feel forced to give it a serious touch, but that achieve the opposite.For example, without saying names, giving an 11-year-old girl a degree in pharmacology, a teenage policeman dressed as a j-pop idol behaving like a sociopath, I'm sorry but instead of looking deep it becomes a joke.In this case FoC is a great product, but it fails to give it seriousness in moments that are not necessary, it's like reading one of those fanfics where Goku, Naruto, Sonic, wtr is betrayed by his friends and it becomes dark and silent.An example with pic related; in context this seems serious, but when you look at the bigger picture, it's just kids in the middle of a legalized cockfight in their world, it's not the destiny of the world, it's just an annual tournament, imagine in our world two 13 year olds in a card or video game tournament having these kinds of live streamed dialogues where the prize is $1000 worth of stuffed animals and toys, it's not epic it's cringe.Finally, the art is beautiful, and I have no problem with the graphic nature or violence, but the plot fails to measure its own tone.

The dramatization of Pokemon battling is to attract the audience, and it's also portrayed like that as a way for the author to illustrate what ambitions look like. It's edgy but not overly done, just enough to make it actually badass.
