Do you remember Pokemon Rumble Blast? It's a Pokemon spinoff that came out in 2011 for the 3DS. Many say it sucks but I always liked it. You play as toy-pokemon and if you use Streetpass, you can be in a toy-pokemon store as your Mii.
>play Rumble Blast a lot as a 10 year old
>lose the cartridge like the idiot kid I was
>be 22, kept the old (now decrepit) 3DS and have a new one I got in my late teens
>update my Mii in the old 3DS by giving her my current appearance (important for later)
>get nostalgic and decide to buy the game again on eBay
>boyfriend surprises me with the game because I brought it up to him
>fuck it, guess I now have two cartridges and we'll return the extra one whenever we have the time
>research how to finish Rumble Blast 100% because I enjoy completionism
>find out you need two 3DSes because mythical Pokemon only spawn after a set number of Streetpass encounters
>guess I'm in luck
>cartridge A with new savefile in my new 3DS for me to play, cartridge B in the old 3DS just to activate the Streetpass thing
>try the Streetpass feature, but something odd happens with cartridge B
>of course cartridge B still has the savefile from the person who sold it, which I didn't wipe since I play on cartridge A anyway
>however Streetpass is connected to the console's data
>so cartridge B dug into my old 3DS and used the data I had from my original Rumble Blast from when I was 10 (this doesn't alter the savefile as it only appears in the game's "Streetpass toy store" as opposed to the in-game world)
>this includes my Mii before I updated her
>in other words, when connecting the 3DSes with both games, my Mii in the new 3DS/cartridge A encountered my 10 year old self's Mii, with the edgy nickname I gave her back then and all
>get to see past me's Pokemon because apparently Rumble Blast's Streetpass datas include your Pokemon collection
>get to encounter my old Pokemon in cartridge A (can't collect them but doesn't matter)
I am never wiping that data, ever

Never heard of this game but this was a good read. Happy for you OP
>>
>>57250527
>Many say it sucks but I always liked it
because they never played it, not only it was the best rumble game, but it was solid enough to be considered a great game overall
anyway, that's cool af anon
>>
>>57250538
Thank you anon! The game is a beat-them-up as opposed to mainline games, and while you only have up to 2 moves per pokemon, the gameplay is pretty dynamic and diverse. It's repetitive but the fact that you're replacing your Pokemon instead of upgrading the same ones makes up for that imo
>>57250540
I couldn't have said it better! I wish they would bring the franchise back, as long as they don't make it like Rumble World where you have to literally wait in order to play a stage
>>
>>57250600
I’ll give it a shot later tonight. If this thread is still up I’ll give my thoughts if you’re interested
>>
This is a thinly veiled trannypost isn’t it
>>
I tried the demo of the original game on Wii and it lost most of its luster by the time I had finished it. It sounds like the later games were better?

Gave us that Mewtwo theme though:

>Streetpass data is separate from game save data
So since you didn't play the second cartridge and attempt to update the streetpass data, the old one was still there. The way Nintendo locks down game data in other places I wouldn't have thought that would work. Way to go, that's like finding Pokemon from past save files in Stadium/PBR saved teams but on an even more granular level.

Rumble Blast is the best one, it has also a level of complexity where each pokemon can have its own ability and moves https://www.serebii.net/rumble2/abilities.shtml, and there are also some "battle facilities" called battle royale EX https://www.serebii.net/rumble2/locations/5-6.shtml
>>
>>57250667
Good idea anon, let me know what you think. I'd love it if there was some kind of revival for this game
>>57250754
I haven't played the original so I can't really tell, all I know is that Blast has more Pokemon (the original has Kanto and Sinnoh Pokemon whereas Blast has all gen1 to gen5 Pokemon minus Keldeo, Meloetta and Genesect)
>The way Nintendo locks down game data in other places I wouldn't have thought that would work
It's strange, isn't it? I know you can archive data on the 3DS, but I didn't do it as a child so I'm impressed by the fact that the console kept old data regardless

>where each pokemon can have its own ability and moves
Is that a post-game thing? Because for now Pokemon have moves the same way they do in the mainline games (except they can learn up to 2 instead of 4). The Pokemons' movepools are the same as in mainline games but what you get exactly can be unpredictable, sometimes they even have TM-exclusives even though there are no TMs in the Rumble series. For example, I tipped over and collected a Volbeat with tackle and thunderbolt, while every other Volbeat I collected just had tackle.

>boyfriend surprises me with the game because I brought it up to him
Why do you need to derail your own thread?
>>
>>57250905
It's important that I mention that I got the game a second time as a surprise gift so that people don't think I accidentally bought 2 myself like an idiot, since I got both cartridges almost at the same time (cartridge B arrived like 2 days after cartridge A)
>>
>>57250527
It was my first 3DS game way back when. I remember grinding those postgame arenas a lot.
>>
>>57250870
each town has different vending machines where you can buy moves, also when you recruit a mon it has a chance to have its own ability https://www.serebii.net/rumble2/towns.shtml
>>
>>57251179
I know, but sadly these are completely randomized and since you're supposed to replace your mons a lot it's soemthing I tend to skip
>>
>>57250527
You better never let that man go and treat him like the awesome person he is.

I played a ton of rumble blast world on my 3ds as it was free on the 3ds shop lost my data although ti didn't get very far despite playing a whole lot. Also I'm pretty sure you already posted this in the Pokemon lolfarm thread kek.
>>
>>57250527
I used to play the fuck out of Rumble Blast but eventually I found it way too grindy, and because you can get codes from internet to give you super busted mons, that kinda ruined the game for me
A game I 100%ed completely free-to-play however, was pokemon picross. Took me like 2 years of daily playing
>>
>>57251828
wait no disregard this, I got it confused for Pokemon Rumble World
>>
>>57251830
wait really I just pirated the full game and it gives you like a bunch of gems
>>
>>57251839
either you somehow got a version with some gem packages or it's the typical "shower the player with resources to get them hooked" that F2P games like to do
>>
>>57251849
No like the paid version just gives you like a bunch of gems and a generator that makes it a lot easier to breeze through the game
>>
>>57251857
yeah, after launching the eshop f2p version they released a $30 (iirc) physical version with the gem generator included. nowadays it's basically impossibile to play the eshop version sadly
>>
>>57251857
well yeah but I was a broke teen and I played as many F2P games as I could find on the eshop
>>
>>57251863
If you mod your 3ds you can download all the old games from the e-shop
>>57251865
Same although I did spend some money on 10$ giftcards to buy those kirby minigames
>>
>>57251812
>Also I'm pretty sure you already posted this in the Pokemon lolfarm thread kek.
Lol yes that's me, felt like sharing there tol
>>57251863
The paid version has a gem generator? I have the eshop f2p version and it's practically impossible to have more than like 5 hot air balloons due to gems being too rare
>>
>>57251959
>The paid version has a gem generator?
yep, i wanted to finish the f2p without modding the 3ds but i think it's almost impossible to do now, i think i'll mod and download the paid version as >>57251881 suggested
