It was brutal. Gyarados, Pikachu, Mewtwo, Celebi, Articuno. I got destroyed so many times the game de-ranked me and made me play against literal children. Exeggutor, Serperior, Gardevoir, Pikachu, and Starmie are just too powerful to battle against when not playing meta decks. I tried all my non-meta decks and they got destroyed. The only thing that was decent was water buffalo but even that was too slow. In the end I won with Galvantula/GA Pidgeot, it only best 1 meta deck, the rest were children and bad draws.

Unless this game gets anti-meta support the only way to win consistently will be meta v. meta. You simply can't have the most powerful cards in the game have bench immunity without the game devolving into who sets up first. If the next set doesn't have bench disruption it will be bleak.

they really should try to shake things up in these events. these are always just the same decks you see in random matches but with medals and i find that stale. i like the way master duel sets up some of the events with some restrictions/event exclusive ban lists to mix things up. some are really cool others meh but overall i generally enjoyed those. maybe when we have a much larger card pool they can do something different? though i dont if it could work with how the core game is structured.

It's still Mewtwo, but at least in my queues, Celebi has basically taken the place of Pikachu. Pikachu still exists, but it's to a much lesser degree than in GA. Sometimes you'll also see Charizard or the Fighting deck with Marshadow and Hitmonlee. Gyarados EX is about this infrequent as well. This big 2 are Mewtwo and Celebi.

Celebi players are easily the most retarded players. They can misplay even in situations where it doesn't seem possible to misplay, and they'll do things like switch in the Celebi to kill something even though it loses them the game on the back swing. Like, even if a line where you attack with Serperior also loses you the game, at least it doesn't immediately lose you the game, so try that one.

Got my first 5 in a row with this; it's been my trusty deck for over a month now and tons of fun
You've got lots avenues to play with so I never get bored of it

>Gren is a 1 retreat fast hitter if you need to close 60 damage (not often, flareon is usually the big killer here)

Match 1. Dual Articuno - couldn't get any eevees so just drudd tank + dragon claw + gren chip + mew blizzard to win
Match 2: Forgot this one
Match 3: Probably Mewtwo but I feel bad since my Eevee Continuous Raped the guys only Sigilyph on the field
Match 4:Gyarados + Drudd - Drudd tank + dragon claw + gren chip to kill it and he had nothing but useless drudds after it died
Match 5: Pika EX - Drudd tank yet again with dragon claw to hit an overzealous zapdos and flareon in the back to essentially OHKO the other uppity zapdos/pikachu since drudd and gren chip brought them in flareon range

I didn't get to use flareon much, but he's usually the win con

I have this problem a lot and it's why I hate and have basically stopped playing all modern multiplayer games that try to stop communication. When you play an actual physical game IRL with people, even if you get shitstomped, you're still talking and interacting and ultimately you know it's just a game and generally you'll have a good time. With online games a lot of that human aspect is removed and so it's easy to get frustrated and angry. At least with games that allow full chat you still get some of that aspect of just people shooting the shit while you kill each other or whatever. But games that have no or extremely restricted communication like emotes only are complete bullshit and I hate them.

I actually enjoy these events, because you get a pretty good idea of the current meta at the end of each season, once you have the emblem. Can't wait for the next expansion.
