Is this duck the strongest pokemon in the original mystery dungeon games?>gets agility>gets recover>gets recycle (for amazing PP efficiency)>can walk on water>levels up fast, so level 1 dungeons are a cinch for it
>>57265856nah. strongest in PMD1 is kecleon, strongest in PMD2 is drifblim. in both cases it's not even really close, they're just that much better than everyone else.porygon line is definitely VERY high tier, though.
>>57265856Also gets Discharge, which is good for nuking a whole room.>>57265888I unironically cannot think of what would make Drifblim good.
>>57265899Yeah, discharge makes it even better but that’s only in the explorers games sadly. I think you only get vacuum cut in the originals (though with agility I suppose it’s enough)Drifblim is very good though, I agree with that anon, unburden lets it attack twice if it’s not holding an item and it gets ominous wind
>>57265909Drifblim was powerful in the zero isles, but I had more luck with Smoochum.
>>57265916Smoochum is really good too.If you ever play the originals again, you should try grabbing Porygon2 in buried relic. Very fun pokemon to play..
>>57265899unburden gives you double moves in a single turn for no extra PP cost as long as you're not holding an item, which is obviously the easiest thing ever to achieve.outside of level 1 dungeons it roomclears like no one else with double ominous wind, each hit of which can proc a speed boost which means even more ominous wind.and in level 1 dungeons it has unparalelled offense with unburden + starting with dual stabs, and also evade tanks better than smoochum thanks to the minimize + unburden combo letting you absolutely crank your evasion every single floor.
>>57265932I played Red Rescue team again a number of years back, but maybe if I ever wanna play Blue, or mire likely the remakes. I love tge Buried Relic theme.
>>57265856honestly the discussion of who's strongest is a lot more interesting when talking about sky. exclusive items make a lot of difference and there are some crazy meme builds.like there's a few exclusive items that restore PP when taking damage, and those actually proc on HUNGER damage. so pelipper can have essentially infinite PP, heal off the hunger damage with roost, and abuse the hell out of movespeed with tailwind.or rayquaza can have permanent +1 movespeed with the flying gem, immunity to status conditions with the dragon gem, and 2x attackspeed with its own exclusive item. sure, all of these require the weather to be clear to work... but air lock forces that and can't be overridden in any way.
>>57265899>I unironically cannot think of what would make Drifblim good.>unburden makes all moves come out twice>each minimize comes out twice>can hit +10 evade for roughly a 90% dodge chance>over 50 uses of minimize without touching elixirs>can simply minimize at the start of floors to be even safer>all of your attacks effectively have 2x the power as well as 2x the secondary effect activation chance>Ominous wind hits entire rooms>Ominous wind also can give the all stat up for each target hit, meaning a single use could realistically quadruple your speed and give you many statups>if you ran out of PP for Ominous Wind it learns Silver Wind too>with the right IQ skills, its A attack hits four times in one turn, doesn't activate hidden traps, sees the map, points you towards the stairs>it can get a swap item that doubles its speed in clear weatherThere is pretty much zero downside to Drifblim. Best ability, best IQ group the legendary exclusive ones are a meme and i will die on that hill, best offenses, best defenses, best crowd control. The only downside is that it can't phase through walls, but it's so strong it doesn't need to.
>>57265856This utter shitter is better than you'd think. Awful stat growths, but levels up at lightning speed. In RT, levels have an utterly massive effect on damage outside of raw stats, so Zigzagoon can outdamage your protags despite the worse stats via raw levels alone. Not to mention, it gets multihitters.
>>57266912>best iq groupno fast friend THOUGH
>>57266925that's dumb, but its only use is to get Kecleon, who is worse and harder to recruit.
>>57265916Why is Smoochum good?
>>57269488>level 1 stats that are better than even a legendary like Suicune's in nearly every field>great levelup stat gains>the way Forewarn works is it gives a chance (about 25 or 30%) to dodge ANY attack, even things like swift>unlike Drifblim, can hold an item, one of which boosts Evasion for even more dodgetanking>girl pokes have higher evade/accuracy to begin with in Sky so the evade goes even higher>good learnset, gets Sweet Kiss for nearby threats and Powder Snow for room clearingI'd argue the only Pokemon better than it for the level 1 dungeons are Drifloon's line.
>>57265856outside of level 1 dungeons it's objectively smeargle.perish song has an extremely shaky accuracy BUT it also has a range of the entire floor, while lock-on makes it guaranteed to hit, making smeargle the only pokemon in the entire game with a reliable floor-wiping move. everything else is constrained to just room moves at best.
As a guy who has cleared all the Zero Isle dungeons with many different mons, neither Smoochum or Drifblim came to mind.
>>57269650>doesn't list ones that do come to mind
>>57269920I mainly used Lucario, Espeon, Feraligatr, Metagross, Dialga and Ledian.
>>57269559Thx for explaining for me anon, even though I used one I didn't know most of these desu, just knew it was a very common choice! PMD is a funny game, only time a baby mon outshines a legendary.
>>57265856I really like the mystery dungeon games because there’s basically no such thing as a shitmonThere’s still gaps in power, but literally every Pokemon can be great because of how the broad mechanics work
>>57270872Most of the legendaries are pretty bad in L1 dungeons, I think the best it gets is Moltres due to Whirlwind+Agility.>>57271250You've clearly never used a mon with Gluttony or Truant in Sky.
