>>58628157>>Do you think Pokemon would look down on others using certain moves such as attract?maybe if that's like their one gimmick or something>>What is the most useless orb/seed in your opinion and why?sizebust orb is almost literally useless. there are a number of bad orbs in the early ones. for seeds, doom seeds always felt like the worst to me>>What are the attributes that a PMD antagonist should have to make them compelling?if their antagonism isn't genuine then i doubt i'm gonna take them all that seriously, but that goes for anything in relation to writing>>How dexterous do you think bird Pokémon like Fletchling, Pidgey, Unfezant, etc. are with their wings?i imagine they're pretty dexterous with their wings. not exactly the same as hands but enough to maybe pick something up or whatnot
First for Joy Dust>>58628157>>Do you think Pokemon would look down on others using certain moves such as attract? There's some moves that are definitely scummy as hell>>What is the most useless orb/seed in your opinion and why?Identify Orb has the be the most useless. It shows you if an enemy is holding an item, which you could just find out by killing them. A good antagonist makes me want to skullfuck their asshole
>>58628188>antagonistCongratulations, you now have a Pokemon who is trying desperately to merge the Pokemon and human realms, not realizing they'll all become adorable miniature clay models.
>>58628208You know what? That actually is pretty based
What guildies should I include in my hack to chat with? Just making a walkaround for now before I actually expand it to actual gameplay.
>>58628815Mine
>>58627648I'll never stop pining for Digimon Mystery Dungeon
>>58630100Feel like Digimond doesn't have any good designs for cute monsters that aren't just ball with face and ears
>>58630172There are plenty of cute mons that aren't just balls
>>58630172I don't see how that's any different from Pokemon.
>>58630179Dude I do not like the veins on that plant creature's arm. What the fuck? That is disgusting
>>58630212Leaves have veins
>>58630100is it a real project ? i would be interested in something akin to a digimon hack nglreposting my old take on my duo has digimon
>>58630561Apparently, some people were working on a Digimon PMD romhack called Chrono Prominence a few years ago, but it sounds like the project is stalled. I'm unsure if that image is connected to that hack or not. While we're on the topic, guess I'll also repost my drawing of my PMD team as Digimon.
>>58630842Actually, after looking around a bit more, I think that image is connected to the romhack. The characters and portraits match the hack's roster, at least. The custom portraits are cool. Shame the hack doesn't seem to be moving forward anymore.
>>58630417Yeah but you don't gotta draw them like THAT. They're fucking bulging through the skin
>>58628815ches and cider and they need to be shit talking each other
>>58630945What's wrong, anon? Seeing a thick body part with bulging veins makes you feel something?
>>58631106>chespinhe's the protagonist but how did I forget Cider?
>>58631117you’re obligated to put Cider in as a Npc that results in several dialogue boxes that can’t be skipped through
>>58628815the three strangers are cool and easy to write dialogue for
>>58631111Yes. Repulsion. Not horny like you
>>58631332What makes them easy to write, in your opinion?
>>58631412there's a lot of works with them, so there's a good amount of dialogue and behavior to draw from, and their characters follow pretty straight forward shticks, imo. Kiyo is angry and unwillingly cute, Cassie is a girly, cute-thing lover, and bean is the silent, thoughtful, mega genius. Plus, if we're talking pure dialogue, Bean is easily the easiest character to write in the entire guild. It's always just, >...
>>58631117Feel like Toge is an obvious choice though I imagine you already thought of that. I think His might also be cool be the was with them during EtF
>>58632311Gus. FUCK phone posting, man. Can't even write a normal name without it being corrected
>>58632311Anon, did you have a stroke?
>>58632316Might as well have. On a computer now though. Gus would be a cool choice because Chespin and Wooper teamed with him in EtF. Booker and Sneasel and cyndaquil are just based default choices for anything clover related. Chespin was also with Cooper during Chespin's Week. For newer guild members, I don't know, they haven't interacted too much with Chespin from what I know. Maybe it could be a good introduction but I don't know who I'd suggest
>>58632430Plus, Booker and Sneasel interacted with Chespin a lot. I remember stories where they sparred, worked on the garden, chatted about their cotton beds, and captured an outlaw. They'd probably be a good inclusion for a Chespin-focused hack.
>>58632718I don't know how I forgot about them, but i'll definitely be sure to include them.So far it's just a couple npc's, mostly just things to check around the guild. A lot like TVSE but from a different perspective. I'll likely make a little adventure somewhere after the guild itself is done.
>>58628316Is that a reference to something?
>>58633129Exciting stuff anon. Even if it's small, we love to see it.
>>58634640That's a pretty gay frog
So I just got EoS in the mail. My team will be (the best starters) Chimchar and Squirtle. What am I in for?
>>58635252A giant hole in your wallet and a fun time.
It's come to my attention that yesterday was the 20th anniversary of PMD. Happy 20th anniversary.and still no news... surely they'll announce a new game on the 25th anniversary, right? haha...
>>58635995>i've actually been playing these games longer than half of /vp/ has been alive
Is it bad that I want a PMD remake of the Explorers game solely because I really want to Sinnoh starters to get a potential Mega?
>>58636053Yes
>>58636053You know an Explorers remake won't be any better than the original.
I love this bird
>>58636273Of all the rooms he could have been neighbors with, it had to be the one with the nocturnal team
>>58636273>hay bedDeserved, honestly.
>>58636273>new Cider story basically implies Cider overthinks and zones out mid-conversationIs Cider a schizo or just extremely autistic?
>>58636434But Rowlets are nocturnal too.Not that most nocturnal species in the guild are depicted as such.
>>58636840Adrian is the only one I can think of who was, at the detriment of his half grass type team. He got over it as a flareon though
>>58636840Cider wasn't raised with other Rowlets, his sleep schedule would have adjusted pretty young. It's not uncommon for animals to change their sleep patterns if the environment calls for it.I can't actually think of many guildmons that should be truly nocturnal. Maybe the Noivern? That gives me an idea for a town that runs on an opposite cycle, active at night, completely desolate during the day.
>>58637604Probably the ghost-types.There's also Sneasel who evolves at night and whose dex entry says it hunts at night and eats unborn babies
>>58638248This probably why Sneasel hasn't evolved yet. Up all morning with Booker
>>58636273>haybeds
>>58638567Consider the followingCotton pillows on hay mattress
>>58638586i feel like this would legitimately make cider and ches put aside their differences to attack whoever proposes this monstrosity
>>58638837Nothing more disgusting than a centrist
>>58638567fucking kek is this new art? I adore it. You're one of my favorite artists jung anon
>>58639425it's actually old i tried digital painting with oil brushes set
>>58635995None of the official twitter accounts for Pokemon or Chunsoft referenced the anniversary... Jap artists made some fanart for it at least.
Is there any good Explorers of Sky rebalance mod?One that probably changs stats and the like.I have no idea why they made confusion and the like work the way they do.
>>58639846The most you'll really find are QoL hacks and those dime a dozen "let's make everything hard (aka cheap and unfair)" hacks the rest of the pokemon series gets. Some hacks can give pokes with terrible abilities something to replace them to make them not awful, but i dont think there's a way to code confusion any differently.
>>58639880Oh, that blows. Wouldn't it be nice to change status effects so that they behave more like Pokémon traditionally? While you have the status, there is a percentage chance you will not move. Instead of being, you know, extremely overpowered like they are.Speed increase sources are an abomination.
>>58639891There's a lot of oddities in PMD that stem from Shiren. Confuse and speed work the same there, and most orbs you see in PMD are just retextured scrolls. As for a chance to not move, the game sorta already has that with all the assholes that have Intimidator.
>>58639891Well, that's poop. It could easily be changed.>As for a chance to not move, the game sorta already has that with all the assholes that have Intimidator. So you are saying there IS a chance, if one finds a way to make it so that status work around intimidator. Fun.Speaking of balance: anyone ever felt like IQ groups are far too unbalanced? But on the other hand, how could you even balance this?
Drew this the other day. I'd like to have Booker learn Aura Sphere at some point, because it'd tie into his Aura training (and also because it'd be cool). I don't know if I'll ever get around to writing a story about it, though. For the sake of discussion: have any of you guys come up with concepts for your characters that never panned out? Do you think you'll be able to revive those ideas in the future? Some concepts are best left on the cutting room floor, but I believe it's important to hang on to all your ideas, since they could always inspire future works or be repurposed.>>58637604Like the other anon said, Sneasel is supposed to be a nocturnal species. But I made my Sneasel character diurnal since it'd be hard to write a nocturnal character when basically everyone else (including her own partner) is diurnal.>>58638248Reports of baby-eating are nothing but lies and slander.>>58638264In all seriousness, she needs a Razor Claw, and those are hard to come by. Sneasel evolving is actually another idea I've had for my characters, but like the "Booker learned Aura Sphere!" idea, it'll probably never be written at this rate...
>>58640004>Speaking of balance: anyone ever felt like IQ groups are far too unbalanced?Absolutely. IQ Group E is arguably the worst of all the IQ sets. Only a couple mildly helpful skills that dont help you explore or fight stuff that much, and its final skill is garbage. House Avoider doesn't stop monster houses, it stops allies that have the skill from entering a room that has an unactivated monster house. Then you've got the two groups that have Fast Friend which make them mandatory, Trap Avoider only being on a few groups for no fucking reason, and the huge grind in vanilla to get max IQ. At least most of this can be fixed in hacks by making Group E less shit and simply giving all groups fast friend/trap avoider.
>>58640045Elaborated a bit more on these. The formatting sucks but i'm too lazy to redo it. Will compare it to a better group in a sec.
>>58640023I have an entire document full of concepts for my characters.Haven't written any of them.
>>58640078And now here's Group G. Drifblim, the best pokemon in the game, is here.
>>58640023yes in regards to the concepts. although it's not just characters but story ideas too. I try to ensure those ideas can get reused elsewhere, but a huge portion of stuff ended up on the cutting room floor.
>>58640004>So you are saying there IS a chance, if one finds a way to make it so that status work around intimidatorYeah maybe when those retards finish decompiling the game
>>58640099What makes Drifblim so good?
>>58640123Besides the excellent IQ group?>Unburden makes any move you use go twice in a row.>use minimize twice in a turn>over 50 uses of minimize means you can easily hit +10 evade, for a roughly 92% dodge chance>explode twice in a turn (not advised)>since all moves come out twice this also doubles things like flinch chance and damage dealt>it also gets Ominous Wind>Ominous Wind has a chance to boost your stats for each target hit, not per use>Ominous Wind+Monster House=dead pokemon and roided up balloon>also can get Silver Wind which is the same move but less accurate>Needs no hold item at all>typing resists a lot of things>moves over water/lavaThere simply isn't a deadlier pokemon in the game.
>>58638248>Guild member gets his hands on a Pokedex somehow>Gathers everyone to read entries on guildmates' species for shits n giggles>Reads fucked up dex entries like that Sneasel one and everyone stares at the member in question>Lots of "I swear I'm not like that!" and "I'm one of the good ones!"
I couldn't post to the previous thread in due time, oh well.>>58581884>I like eyelashes(obviously), but I also believe in designing the eyelashes of each individual to help say something about the character and their personality.Do you have any more information about what other implications eyelashes might have on characters? I got interested.>>58586084Clover talk is all right, but I wish people also talked about and shilled characters they're fond of from PMD (fan)media in general as a form of variety. Well, probably for the most part, what people talk about would be from the stuff everyone knows, like the mudkip, but I'd also like to see some uncommon gems that others could have stumbled upon and tell us about what makes them interesting etc.
>>58640851One minor thing i got a chuckle out of was Team Shitpost. Pic related, team shitpost at the bottom
>>58635995>Rescue is now 20 years old>10 years of no actual new game
>>58640642Mustel literally has a Pokedex, so I bet this scenario has happened already
https://rentry.org/MoonshineNightOutI had this story saved as a draft around a month ago, not too long after my last story was published. didn't know what to do with it so it's been sitting and collecting dust. Today I just randomly decided to go back to it. About double its original length I think. I don't know, didn't tally up the word count.>>58642460Yeah, but doesn't Mister write the entries himself? Like the pokemon and their names appear? I haven't read past his second story and that was a while ago, so maybe I'm misremembering.
>>58642748From what I remember, I thought it updated automatically, but he also had the option to write additional info using his claws
>>58642460>>58642748>>58642934The Pokédex adds an entry for any Pokémon Mustel witnesses. It's typically bare bones information much like in the earlier games until caught. Given Mustel can't catch Pokémon in this setting, the book gains more information the more the Mustel interacts with and observes them. Battle can be the quickest way to learn about other species, something that our Zangoose ironically doesn't like to get into intentionally. From what little is known about how the Pokédex currently functions, the book may be absorbing latent aura generated by thoughts and emotions during these interactions.
>>58643451So when the guild gets in the inevitable tournament arc, he's gonna compete for research purposes, right?
>>58640023I cut out an entire section of a story before because I wrote it at 5am and when I came back the next day, I didn't like what i wrote. It was a bit where Chespin started ranting a bit about his former friends late at night and it just didn't fit the tone of what i had written at all.I sort of revisted it once in a story I did post, but i'm still not happy with what i wrote and I do want to go back and redo that story.
>IP range temporarily blockedGuess I'm phone posting now.>>58643956I don't really know what to say besides "get an idea and write it". For me, I get a prompt and just work with what comes to mind no questions asked. Then I do a quick revision before posting. I hope that you can find an idea that you're really interested in so we can get some more stories here because god damn things have been slow lately
>>58644101>god damn things have been slow latelyIt's a good thing all I need to do for my current story is get it looked over. I should be able to post it late tonight at this rate.
Can someone please post all of the game title screens? I want to change starters and remove some.
>>58644221Should be able to find them somewhere here.https://www.spriters-resource.com/ds_dsi/pokemonmysterydungeonexplorersofsky/
>>58371224I procrastinated way too much on posting about my Super replay. I actually finished the main story a while ago, but never got around to writing a post about it, and now I can't find the notes I took about the ending.Well, based on what I remember about it:It's cool that you can do 2 dungeons with your team's evolved forms. The final dungeon and boss fight both have awesome music (specifically the Roots and the second phase of the fight). It's crazy how Dark Matter is able to petrify even Arceus, and the only thing that can stop the petrification is the Harmony Scarves (which makes me wonder why nobody thought to make more scarves and hand them out to vital Pokemon, like Legendaries, to ensure they'd survive if Dark Matter ever returned). Some of Dark Matter's dialogue is oddly whiny, which is kinda lame. The way the boss switches types and makes you avoid certain tiles is an interesting mechanic, but overall, the fight was easy.Pretty goofy to have triumphant music playing over the credits while the hero is sobbing in the background. And I still don't understand why the partner had to disappear at the end. Also worth noting this was my first PMD game all those years ago, so the twist where the hero stays and the partner leaves had no effect on me, since I didn't know the opposite was always true in previous PMD games. Even so, I didn't expect the partner to leave, so I remember feeling sad about it in my first playthrough. It was sad to see her go this time too, but I know I'll be seeing her again...On that note, I'll work on the postgame soon and post more updates along the way.
>>58644888>PSMD>postgamerip...
I don't really play Super MD, but is it true that that game basically confirmed PMD series have always been an isekai because there's a council of Legendaries that just yoinks humans from their world and turn them into pokemon to save the pokemon world?
>>58640145On the flipside, if you go to Sky Stairway and some fuckass Drifloon decided it has to ruin some honest, hardworking pokemon's day, you better overlevel that fucker by at least 20 levels AND have multiple oran berries ready, because otherwise you're not surviving 16 ominous winds to the face.
Team Cozy is finally back in this entry to the Spiritomb colab. As always, please give any feedback you can think of. https://rentry.org/cozyspiritombAlso, in case you haven't seen it, there's an intro page for Team Cozy here. https://rentry.org/4suyn
>>58636053DX remake of PMD2 is inevitable. Spike Chunsoft is the pioneer in terms of Mystery Dungeon as a spinoff genre of roguelikes and Pokemon crossover titles are their golden goose. Though they probably would release the remake before Sinnoh starters would ever get anything because 1. Mega Dimension DLC is done and dusted,And2. TPC is definitely incompetent enough to gauge the demand for extra gen 4 content solely from the sales of BDSP, and we all know how that went.
>>58640004>Speaking of balance: anyone ever felt like IQ groups are far too unbalanced? Oh they definitely are. IQ system as a whole is a jank due to the fact that Chunsoft had basically no idea how to make Shiren the Wanderer but with permanent stat progression to the MC to balance things, so it ends up being all cattywampus. I get the idea though, they want different pokemon to have different roles, but go far enough into the postgame and the different roles become less of an asset and more of a liability. >But on the other hand, how could you even balance this?I personally think that the DX's system of changing skills on the fly is good enough of a balancing act, but at the same time limiting 1 skill for each pokemon is a bit iffy. Granted the remake is a noticeably easier game, but for the difficulty of vanilla Explorers I think IQ can be more balanced by making the skills interchangeable, e.g. Trap Avoider should not be confined to group F, rather any pokemon of any IQ group can learn a skill so essential if they ever consume a gummi or Spinda's drink while being a leader. Same with skill like Lava Avoider, Survivalist, etc.Maxing IQ out at 900 points while a single gummi increasing at most 5 is a jank that needs to go too.
Im still holding out hope for an explorers of sky dx
>>58645703It's time
>>58645766
>>58646012>DX's system of changing skills on the flyYou mean gambling for skills? I swear to god I never got the skills I needed without throwing a billion gummies at the Pokemon I wanted
Are there any good PMD/PMD-ish webcomics? I need inspiration
>>58647237There are many PMD webcomics but I'd hesitate to call any of them good. If they are good, they're not finished

It's actually a Gen 1 nuzlocke but the pokemon talk with humans, and thus gives the PMD-ish vibe you look for. It starts off as a complete parody but takes itself seriously later on, and it will hit the feels. Navigation is a bit poo-poo though.Seriously though, do read Victory Fire

>>58647237I forgot to mention PMD Floodwaters. It's a short and sweet deconstruction comic that I don't see a lot of people mention. Surprisingly emotional for its length. Also single-handedly made me start liking Omanyte for how cute it can actually look.
>>58645247What do you mean?
>>58648914It was always cute
>>58645703Great job with the descriptions. It's easy to visualize each location and feel the comfy vibes. I think the lesson about coziness is good, and the fight scene is written well. The overall plot is maybe a little boring since there's no central conflict (aside from the fight at the end, which feels kinda tacked on despite having a logical reason to exist). Also, there are times when Chespin is worried about traps while Wooper is less cautious, and other times where the roles are reversed, making the characters feel inconsistent. I also wish they brought up Toge again at the end, considering your team and Toge have such a close connection.I remember you were concerned about your story being too short, but I think the length is fine, and it feels complete.Overall, not a bad story. Thanks for contributing to the event.
>>58648973Honestly i didn't really have any grand ideas this time around, and something low-stakes feels onbrand for the team.Good catch with the trap inconsistency, I didn't catch that one. I'll tweak that second line a little, and add a little bit about toge too.
>>58648973Added a little bit to the story just now, let me know if you think the touchups make it feel better. As for the fight, I chalk that up to Toge's memories bleeding into the spirit, which sort of influenced it into wanting to see their teamwork in action.

This has been going on for too long. This is a PMD thread. Stop talking about random people's fetishes and start talking about PMD.

>>58649170Skitty is a low-rank furry choice at best. I doubt she was the main reason.

Will you attend?
>>58649610Bro I already agree
>>58649610Fuck no.
>>58648914This one was a good recommendation. It made me think I could probably make comics if I put a little effort into it instead of just going “but it won’t look as good as it could be if I was a good artist.” The ending was a little bit confusing but everything leading up to it was good.
>>58649983You definitely do not need to have bombastic art to make a good series. OPM webcomic is the biggest testament to that. If your drawings are not literally Chris Chan level, have a certain cohesion, and the story has decent writing (most important part), you can get away with a lot of internally or externally perceived low quality.
>>58649610yes but only to boo him>t. rocket rescue team
>>58650082Adding to this. Making a comic is a great way to improve drawing skills because you're gonna have to draw a lot of characters very often in weird positions and angles
>>58645703Good addition to the Halloween collab, I was kind of expecting the lesson for the ghost to be that coziness is relative, or subjective per person, but it's a nice moral anyways. >>58655680Yeah i don’t know who needs to hear this but you will naturally get better at whatever creative thing you pursue. You don't improve your drawing skills if you don't push yourself, and making a comic forces you to do that. Sure, you need some level of skill, but as long as you can place the characters into frames and make them recognizable, that'll be enough. You don't have to jump into making your One True Idea, start with an idea you're less attached to so it's easier for you to say "eh, good enough" and move on when you get stuck on something.I'd recommend reading Alva's if you can chew it, it is a pretty unique and interesting comic, but you can also follow its art evolution, and Diabeticus often talks about what he's trying to draw and what he's experimenting with. It is both informative and inspiring watching it go from the basic shapes at the start to more and more details, backgrounds, and different angles over time. But I'll also say that good writing is more important for a comic than good art. Sure, it's a visual medium, good art is an enhancer, but I can stomach a bad-looking comic if the writing is good and I want to see where it's going, while good art and boring writing would make me go "well, I guess it's pretty at least" and stop reading. No amount of great-looking pages will make me want to go back to read ICMA (sorry if you like it but it's extremely repetitive and it was very boring for me).

Reminder that there is one week left for the Halloween writing collab. But the deadline is not strict at all, so don't worry too much about it and just take your time and enjoy yourself! And if you haven't seen it, the rules page has a link to a page where authors can put requests for collab partners, or you can just add an idea for how others can use your characters in a cameo. So even if you don't plan on writing a story you can still contribute.
>>58658926>one week left>deadline is not strictWhat the fuck is the point of a deadline then? Putting it at the end of November was already a mistake
>>58659059We suck cock hard ITT, you should know that by now anomalous.

>>58663020I mean, you can find it on pixiv as well. That copy just has translation annotations.Entirely SFW, by the way.
>>58663020The comic is SFW. You can replace the numbers in the website name with 926 if you're really afraid. But yes, it's quite a good comic. Unfortunately, the translation is only up to chapter 5. If you can read the moon runes, you can check his pixiv.
>>58663020alright, i actually checked it out anyway just to make sure it wasnt some fuckeryI think i HAVE seen this comic before but didn't read very far since it seemed to fall into the same japanese trappings of very generic "official looking" art / writing styleit doesnt SEEM to be porn - i saw it originally on e926 which is the sfw version of the site. i didn't read very far so i can't properly attest if the writing is good, just restating my first impressions seemed to be the same as all other japanese comics
>>58663043I've read it up until the translation ended. The central plot is just the Rescue Team, but it has pretty fun main characters, and I like their dynamic. It's generally pretty low-stakes, mostly comedy (like the way they keep bringing up Pika hugging Toto at the start of the comic, or the family certificate...), and sometimes meta/4th wall-breaking. I really hope the person doing the translation comes back to finish it at some point.

>>58663944Agree with >>58663946. I don't even have an issue with the wording, this sounds like some shit a character could say. Also what hack is this and what game is it for?
>>58664036>Also what hack is this and what game is it for? That's "Fire Emblem: Bound Destiny", the first game in a trilogy of PMD-themed hacks of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. The setting is closer to mainline Pokémon with Mystery Dungeons, but it does have a lot of PMD elements and features humans turned into Pokémon.I've posted my thoughts on it in a previous thread:https://arch.b4k.dev/vp/thread/58284943/#q58310193https://arch.b4k.dev/vp/thread/58284943/#58338601I was playing the second game but had to put that on hold due to college + Clover stuff.
>>58664091Oh my Arceus
>>58664036Even if the games themselves say stuff like "I'm a Grass-type, so all the Fire-types in Magma Cavern are no good for me" it always seems super awkwardly written to me.
>>58664190That sounds entirely like a you problem
>>58664190I kinda get it, but I can't think of a good way around it.
>>58664197It's at the very least not as bad as those times the games have characters talk about level. I know the exchange between Caterpie and Metapod in RT does that.I get it's supposed to be a way to tell the player "cant evolve? level up" but i can't help but feel like there's a better way to say it.
>>58664091>Fire EmblemSo do you get to have eggs with your partner and optimize the egg moves of your offspring?
>>58663989When people say that about ToE, they just give away that they read gay furry porn. Because if you actually read Tales of Elysium and not Now and Forever, their relationship is so irrelevant, it's entirely missable. This is the most blatant it gets, and that's page 1047. (Forgot that it's a pretty big spoiler.)
>>58664541>they just give away that they read gay furry pornNo, you smug sod, taking a glance at things, looking at tags in hosters, and reading reviews and summaries from other people exists.
>>58664612>When people say that about ToE>Shows OBTNot beating the "can't read" allegations.
>>58664735I gave OBT as an example, you're trying too hard.Even if I don't see it in tags, I can see it through other means.
>>58664775>I know Tales of Elysium is really gay because this different comic that has nothing to do with it is gay>No I didn't read ToE, I just know it isK
>>58664790No moron. You made a claim.>When people say that ToE is gayshit, they just give away that they read gay furry pornAnd I told you that you don't need to be reading gayshit to clock something is gayshit >>58664612I just gave OBT screencap as an example that this might also possibly be seen from comic's tags, that's all.
>>58664814And my claim wasn't about "something", it was specifically about ToE. ToE's main characters are gay, but it's almost entirely irrelevant and barely comes up, AND the comic also has a much more explicit straight main character. The only reason why you'd call it gay is because you either didn't read ToE and instead read Haychel's other works or you're parroting someone else who did that, or you just have no idea what you're talking about.
Having gay characters does not make something gayshit - ToE's leads are gay but like, sexual attraction to each other is like never the focus of their relationship. It's not the horny kind of gay, and their relationship is important as they're the two main characters that are a part of the bulk of what's happening in the story. If they were not together, the story would be a lot different, and it's honestly kind of nice to see them weather the storm together. Characters occasionally addressing their relationship doesn't turn it into fagslop either, like >>58664541 is seeming to suggestI find it can be hard to explain the fine line between having characters be gay and having characters be faggots - I have a very low tolerance for faggotry, and what I've seen in ToE is not faggotry. They're just two males in a relationship together. As for OBT... It's a more faggoty there I would argue, since the gay relationships are much more surface level and feel like they're there more because the author gets off to it than because it's important to the story. OBT's story doesn't really change if the gay relationships didn't exist. Maybe I feel this way because the OC designs are way more garish and tumblr-y, but it's hard to say.
>>58664735>offering audiences a darker and more mature view on the Pokémon franchise than everbefore. That’s a pretty bold claim
>>58664848I didn't read his "other works", only heard of it and that's enough.>You're parrotingYou completely ignored the original reply to keep up this "calling this gayshit is projecting" nonsense, so won't be entertaining it with a repeat.>inb4 "N-No! >>58664894Keeping in mind that it started in 2015, that might be true. It's definitely pretty dark, and as far as maturity goes, it's not, I dunno, exceptional, but it's not "edgy teenager who thinks swearing and blood = mature".>>58664907Well, that's OK, anon, you're entitled to your opinion and your decisions on what to read. Your opinion is still based on gay furry porn and has no other connection to reality, though.
>>58664907Nigga keeps saying "gayshit". Is that supposed to be separate from gay furry porn or just an interchangeable term? Doesn't matter too much because ultimately you're retarded but I'd still like to know
>>58664091>>58664181I'm curious as to what is the general opinion on "Oh my Arceus".It makes sense for natives to have an equivalent to "oh my god" but it still feels tacky and I can't pinpoint why.
>>58665353Arceus is kinda mostly forgotten and esoteric as a deity even in mainline canon. It's as bizarre as openly worshipping gnosticism and going "SWEET SOPHIA!" Arceus is a myth, not a mainstream belief.
I think homophobes are faggots.
>>58665353You wouldn't be saying "my Arceus" in the same sense you wouldn't be saying "my Jupiter". Like, you wouldn't say "oh my Jupiter", you'd say "oh Jupiter". (And to the hack's credit, I don't see that in the screenshots).I think there's nothing wrong with it per se, it's just a very basic idea that, in many works, doesn't go beyond "god = arceus, I will search-and-replace all mentions of 'god' with 'arceus' and call it a day", and that makes it feel like a cheap trick to make your world seem more authentic and ends up having the opposite effect. For it to be done well, you need to sit down and think about how Arceus fits into your version of the pokemon setting, and then use his name based on that. Even in different PMD games he's treated differently (Explorers vs Super). If you want to see an example of it done well, check out Victory Fire comic.
>>58665353I find it annoying but I can at least understand where it comes from. Arceus the deity, creator of everything, it can make sense even if it sounds really awkward. What I personally really fucking hate is people thinking Giratina is a stand-in for the devil and the Distortion World is hell. NOTHING lives in the Distortion World besides Giratina. There are no damned souls roaming around, it's a dimension containing antimatter. That's also the reason Giratina is portrayed as a violent pokemon. Antimatter is extremely destructive. There is also a spirit world in pokemon. It is mentioned in Dex entries, it appears in the anime once in a while. We see spirits in Rescue Team so it's not unreasonable for it to exist in PMD too. But no, it has to fit into western beliefs and Christian theology because that's the only thing that makes sense to teenage fanfic writers. They constantly refuse to acknowledge that this is a Japanese property and, if anything, likely follows Eastern mysticism
>>58665353Possibly feels tacky because Arceus’ name is longer and more clunky to say than just god, so it feels forced and takes you out of the story. Personally, I don’t mind it too much, but it does feel cliche at this point because so many Pokemon fanfic writers use it.
>>58665353It's a clunky reference in every case and has no place in writing unless you're writing some retard cultist
I've only played the original PMD because it launched for the GBA games on the Switch. What's the best one, I kinda wanna fuck around with another one, I've been hungry for another Mystery Dungeon game for a bit. Also is Farfetch'd remotely viable in any of them, or is he doomed to be completely useless and unviable in any game he's in.
>>58665713>FarfetchdLooking at its gen 4 moveset, I've definitely seen worse. Agility's always good to have in PMD, Fury Attack is good in PMD as well. Cut is also sort of a spin attack move too, hits everything around you. If you felt like toying around with egg moves as well, Mirror Move protects you from all attacks for three turns while also bouncing all moves back at the attacker.IQ Group G is also my pick for the best general use IQ Group on top of that. It's also decently early, found in Steam Cave in Sky. Though you could also just hack the game to start as one if you really wanted to, it's an easy thing to dotl;dr farfetched is perfectly usable in sky
>>58665353It's fine, but it's also boring. There are tons of better deity-interjections one could use for Arceus alone.
>By the mythicals!
>>58665713First one is the best one, but Explorers has better gameplay if that's what you're looking for

>>58665728>>58665800I dunno how Sky works, I know in PMD you had a character portrait when you talked though. Would I really be able to use PkHex or something to just make myself a Farfetch'd as the main character without fucking up cutscenes or anything like that? Also I thought there were 3DS games too, were those not as good as Explorers of Sky? Downloading Sky now anyway since you both recommended it.
>>58665935It's relatively easy to change starters with the program Skytemple, and you can patch the rom to skip the quiz as well.I don't have a guide on hand because I apparently deleted my copy at some point, but I'm sure someone else here would.
>>58665935There's a few things you can do with Sky starter swaps. Farfetch'd has custom portraits to fill in what wasn't there in vanilla, but it's also a pokemon that doesn't have custom sprites to fill in missing sprites, so you'd see them run in place instead which kinda sucks.
>>58665966Oh. Sounds gay. I'll just be sure to grab a Farfetch'd early on and play the game vanilla.
>>58665969There will be a quite a handful of times that you won't be able to bring him with you if he isn't the main character or partner.
>>58666014That also sounds gay. I think in the one I played you and your partner couldn't evolve until some post main story shit, so it's weird that looking at the starter list, it's entirely all Pokemon with evolutions that they don't have access to unless you're fucking around a lot in the post game.
>>58666035Reminder that evolution really doesn't mean much in PMD unless you really need a specific move a prevo doesn't get, or a different ability/movement type. With enough Gummi bulking (easier in Spinda's Cafe in Sky) anything can hit the stat cap.Pic related
>>58665713Download Project Orion. Explorers of Sky but with 100% necessary QoL. Play with the more unique starters it offers, or patch in some that you like. Evolution is a meme. Farfetch'd can be found in Steam Cave which is relatively early in the game.
>>58665353It's tacky because Gamefreak can't write lore due to the fact everything has to be kid-friendly.As far as I've known, Arceus doesn't really act like the ubiquitous Abrahamic God one might refer to when they say "oh my god". Arceus acts more like Azathoth or other passive creator deity, neither helping nor hindering any forces in the Pokemon world. Not to mention most of its Pokedex entries paint it as some sort of incomprehensible divine (the pokemon is apparently a single "hand" out of thousands), do any average Jumpluff even *know* Pokemons and the world are created by Arceus? I don't think so.
>>58667316It'd be toxic to PMD canon to have any real awareness of what Arceus is. Worshiping him already means you failed the lore check.
>>58666060>Reminder that evolution really doesn't mean much in PMDI kinda regretted evolving my Numel to Camerupt, lots of level 1 reset dungeons are much easier to clear with preevos due to the fact that chunsoft imported every pokemon stat into the game with 0 balance tweaks, including the exp curve. Preevos gain better moves sooner and more flexibly most of the time. Unless you get a new typing from it, you're better off not evolving your favorite.
>>58666879cute
>>58667335But when you find the Arceus statue, doesn't your character always say "is this Arceus, the creator of the world?" or something like that? And that happens no matter what Pokemon you bring, implying every Pokemon is aware of Arceus being the world's creator god.
>>58664970>Still repeating "It has to has to reach this explicit high gay threshold I personally defined otherwise you just base it upon this other comic you never read">There isn't a definitive scene or in-your-face-reference count to hit>Somehow the latter opinion is based on porn and out-of-touch with reality and not the former "muh not gay enough to be called gay" babble.Pure smooth-brain activity. Work on your own comprehension of reality on top of reading.
