>>How durable are Pokemon?
very durable. wayyy moreso than humans
>>What does an Oran Berry taste like?
i imagine a sweeter orange that's more balanced
>but the games say it has no sweetness
fuck that alright
>>Did you ever get a Banana in Rescue Team?
no i wish i did.
>>Why do pmd comics love riolu so much?
because people don't like trying to work with different anatomy, lucario being its evolution gets a free pass, aura powers n shit, it's a dog and cutesy so most people drawing comics have probably attempted to draw them already
>>
>>58667858
also i guess i also forgot the mobile board exists https://magma.com/d/Nnv4iqhJAj
>>
>>
Wait, you guys actually are into fornicating with a lucario as a little unevolved zorua? I thought you guys liked roguelikes and dungeon crawlers.
>>
>>58668020
We're into both, yeah

>Why do pmd comics love riolu so much?
Pre-evo of Lucario, the undisputed top pick of furries, which PMD fandom is filled with, even more so than the mainline. People just love it.
Mostly based on a physical battler, it gives the impression of a shounen character, making it ideal for the "coolest most badass fighter ever" trope.
High asspull potential (often unjustified) with aurahax or some other bullshit for unseasoned writers.
High powerscaling potential, high power fantasy potential, high wish-fulfilment potential.

Never actually beaten any zero isles before in sky.
Without just giving me easy solutions, what should I keep an eye out for?
I want to figure out the dungeons myself, but I guess I'm hoping for some hints or general rules of thumb to keep me roughly in the ballpark
Last time I tried, I was in middle school, and I think I just used a misdreavus, but I don't recall doing well
>>
>>58668797
The Detect Band is probably the best hold item you can get ahold of. The ability to get the hell out of a shitty situation is good as well, so don't pass up warp seeds.
There's definitely a fair few pokes that aren't worth fighting due to being overly tanky or too dangerous. It's the sort of thing you find for yourself while playing since the threats can change based on whatever you're using.
>>
>>58668583
It's so annoying the ending of this is completely lost
>>
>>58669465
Is the ending lost or was it intentionally left unfinished as a parody of PMD comics?
>>
>>58669486
We don't know. The artist is MIA and the comic is only hosted on web archive at this point.
>>
>>58669486
I've found reference to more pages on Google but the comicfury page is dead.

really? could you share the references? as far as my memory and that archive is concerned, it ended at the last page on that archive site

>>58669816
Huh, I can't find it anymore. Maybe I'm misremembering, I thought I found a dead link to Comicfury at one point but there are a lot of dead links in this rabbit hole.

1. Teammates are a bigger liability than you think. Chunsoft's AI is downright rudimentary because most other Mystery Dungeon games don't allow recruiting teammates.
2. Some pokemons are created more equal than others. Try having a go with either Drifblim or Smoochum first to get your bearings. They've perfect blend of versatile movepool, gentle exp curve and amazing abilities to lessen the burden of starting over at level 1.
3. This game is a *roguelike*, not roguelite. Failing is part of the progression. Sometimes you didn't have enough apples, or max elixir, or some trap you stepped on left you with no means to fight. Just start over, savescumming is the norm, not the exception.
Good luck with your run!
>>
>>58669807
100% accurate
>>
>>58668797
If you really had to, try Zero Isle North first. You get to bring your maxed out bag slot and don't get level reset, just not getting exp. Use lv 100 player and partner characters, and maybe a lv 85 Cresselia with Lunar Dance if you're not confident. I can clear it with deliberately throwing a pass scarf I found away. Plus you get a Golden Mask for easier recruiting.

After a very long wait, I am proud to say the final major Team Eevee story for this arc is now out! Many thanks to Gabite-anon for his help in beta-reading. As always, I look forward to discussion and critique in the thread if you have any; I hope you enjoy!

Babe wake up, Althi is BPD-maxxxing again.
I've met people like Althi before IRL and they will absolutely ruin your life if you afford them the opportunity.
All joking aside, I always really enjoy your stories and they always inspire me to keep on writing my own. I hate Althi so much, but I absolutely do not want her to leave and need her to still be around so I can see how she continues to fuck up.

This actually makes me wonder, in regard to writing on this topic, how do you actually deal with characters with legit diagnosed disorders while doing them justice? How to portray them when it is caused by their own actions? How to portray them when the said disorders emerge from conditions that were out of their control, like just being born with it or being inflicted with trauma? How much of the fucked up shit they do is actually their fault when they have to fight with wild impulses ordinary people don't have to, or wouldn't be able to operate normally themselves if their places were switched?
I'm not well-versed on (actually) mentally challenged people, so their agency aspect was always a question mark to me. Can anyone enlighten me?
>>
>>58673150
>how do you write diagnosed characters
You just don’t.
>>
>>58673150
>diagnosed
Should've worded that better. I tried to mean that their condition is legit, not that they go to some psychiatrist during the story to find it out with professional insight.
>>
>>58673150
Do it with some respect. Learn about whatever you're writing. Should be fuckin' obvious. Don't write a flat stereotype that pisses everyone off, and don't make it their only personality trait, even if it's one of their more defining traits
>>
>>58673150
Make those traits define their character completely, ensure that they never grow or change, and make them insufferably annoying
>>
>>58673150
The disorder should be an explanation of their behaviour, not an excuse for it. I was going to say a few more general things, but >>58673206 beat me to it. Ask yourself why you're giving a character a disorder and what is its place in the story, then work from there. If you want to look at something pokemon-related, there's a comic called PMD Ancient Revival that has a main character with a disorder, which is written pretty well.
>>
>>58673297
This is all good and well, but it still doesn't quite answer the agency (or responsibility) aspect.
To give an example, if you were to see a straightjacket lunatic harming the people and the environment around him, you wouldn't be thinking "you despicable bad man", you would pity, you would know that he's clearly out of his own control. The best you could do is restrain him to prevent further harm to others and himself.
In higher functioning cases, it becomes more blurred. To give an example from another medium, think of Scarecrow's fear toxin. When you see someone injected with this, becoming mentally unstable from its influence, acting irrational, when it might come "rational" in their own mental state, would be expected. You wouldn't be so confident in calling them evil.
In that same vein, imagine that toxin being literally embedded in people, naturally generating, to varying degrees depending on the person, without any choice of their own (once again, I'm not well-versed, just trying to draw a parallel). A character who's clearly miswired in their head wouldn't be expected to act healthy. Despite that, how do you put the line where a character would say "You are not actually trying enough to restrain yourself", instead of "I know it's very difficult to fight these unhealthy thoughts because your condition reinforces it against your wish. I don't blame you."
>>
>>58673518
When I said that, I was talking about how the narrative presents it. Something like "this character is doing crazy and irrational things, but that's okay because they're craaaazy" would be bad. Other characters can obviously have different opinions, and they don't have to be rational about it. It depends on what you're writing and why, what character it is, and how it affects them. Is it something constant, or more like episodes? Do they become a danger to themselves, to others? Is it just difficult or do they completely lose control? Is it a main character, supporting character, antagonist? Why did you give them that disorder? The answer to how to write it well depends on these questions. If it's a main character, then they're probably mostly lucid, so you should have enough ground for them to be planning how to manage their disorder.

Recently finished the postgame of Super. It was shorter than I remember and felt kinda rushed. Can't tell if the featured Xatu is supposed to be the same one that was in Rescue Team, but either way, hearing Great Canyon's OST again was nice. I also enjoyed having Mew as a temporary partner. Teaming up with a mythical is cool, and I was always a fan of this cute floating cat thing. Too bad you're only allowed to do a couple missions together before Mew leaves. The solo dungeons were hard (especially Mystery Jungle, since everything was Poison-type while I was Grass-type, and there were lots of status ailments being thrown around too), so I appreciated being able to bring Hoopa... when he wasn't wandering off or teleporting me in front of enemies that could one-shot me. Lastly, the fact that you lose the Harmony Scarves at the end of the postgame is truly tragic. How dare they take away my special snowflake OC neckscarves. They looked so cool.

Anyway, I don't think I'll bother recruiting the remaining hundreds of Pokemon, so that's all for Super. Despite its flaws, I enjoyed revisiting my first PMD game after all these years.
