Not really. There are also some nerfs to standard gameplay (namely healing using items during battle now can't be done while your pokemon is in the middle of an attack animation) so if you're not getting the DLC then it's definitely better to not update, especially from a shiny hunting perspective.

That said, if you do get the DLC, then it more or less makes up for the lack of overload spawns.

I mean, 5 star zones are pre-determined before you scan them. So it's 25k points for a chance you'll get a zone with what you want with it and reloading backups doesn't affect the roll because they seem to determined right after your previous one.

once you start getting hyperspace berries, don't even bother with regular berries in donuts, they don't offer enough points to be worth it
that said, I recommend

It really depends where you do it. Encounter really shines at 3 where it will force that type to spawn only, if able (this can't be annoying if there's multiple of that type who spawn or the spawning is patchy so you still get mixed up with other stuff). Sparkling + title is my go to.

Ok I’m this anon. I found another Amuara hyperspace zone. I followed a youtube video that said to bunch them together, knock them all out, and then keep saving the game until right before they appear in the same spawn spot.

The amaura are slightly delayed, 2 pop up first and then 4, within 10 seconds of restarting the game. 6 total each time. And they always have different levels and some are alpha sometimes so they all seem like different amaura.

So far no shiny though after about 2 hours of closing and opening the game to spawn them. Are we sure the charm works in portals? Am I doing something wrong or is it just bad rng?

You want to work your way up ASAP. Berries you actually want only come out of 4 and 5 star, and encounters are gated by level.
So just use good berries and tackle the highest levels you can but keep a max star one for the boss if you really want so you don’t get caught unprepared.

I just started the game last week, I have maybe 50 hours in it, just beat main game, no shiny charm yet. The only shinies ive found organically aside from the story sheep are two pidgeys and a furfrou. I picked alpha magikarp to be the first one to try to find so I just flew to zone 2 over and over, didn't expect anything but after maybe 15 minutes I got it. Stoked. Only had to use 2 bottle caps too.

Once it calls another pokemon, you can knock out the original SOS pokemon without ending the chain, and all the called pokemon still can call for help because of the adrenaline orb.

The main problem is that there's a handful of pokemon who never ever call for help, eg SOS a Caterpie, the Caterpies and Metapods it calls can call for help if you KO the original Caterpie, but Butterfrees won't call for help. Anyways that's not a concern for SOS Cutiefly.

Its easier to hunt as easly as possible. The later you get on in the DLC, the harder it is to roll for specific pokemon since the rng spawn pool gets too large. I did the majority of my hunting long before I got to Darkrai. All I have left to hunt are Aerodactyl and Baxcaliber, but theyre post game mons from what I understand.

I don't get why people are upset about the spawn overload being patched, this dlc is fucking crazy.
I just loaded into a hyperspace where right at spawn there was a tepig/pignite group down left of me, one down right, and another right in front, with a simple alpha 2 shiny donut as the only effect and fast travel spam I got 3 shalphas, and I still have plenty of time to keep fast traveling for more

I spent weeks trying to get a shalpha tepig in wild zone 20 with the most optimized strat and never got a single one

Honestly, you're better off getting nearly every shiny that isn't a "pest" shiny like Fletchling/Pidgey/Weedle/Magikarp from Hyperspace. Just about the only thing that's easier in regular Lumiose is some skittish mons like MAYBE Fennekin where finding the right setup to either fast travel spam or teleporter spam can be a pain.

And I am mad jealous of the people who waited for the DLC for some mons, like fucking Helioptile.

I hunt fennekin in hyperspace and get shinies. All you need to do is scare off the hoard early into the hyperspace, then keep saving until you save right before they all respawn, then just keep resetting the game until you succeed. On switch 2 the turnaround for shiny checking 4 at a time is 17 seconds

Just running Objectives in 4* distortions keeps me stocked on all the good berries
And minmaxing donuts isn't necessary either, since you only really need alpha power
The only exception being if you have balltism (like me) and want to get a bunch of beast/safari/dream/sport balls from 5* distortions, in which case you want big haul 3 and ball power 3
Otherwise you just need alpha/humongo/teensy
Though you'll at least want those on 5* donuts to hunt mons locked to 5* distortions like rotom, gimmighoul, frigibax etc

It's the same 50m-70m thing as before. If they're within 50m they spawn, if they're not over 70m away they don't despawn. The only difference is that you can't drop pins to tell for certain.

I'd say the dlc is better than any dlc they've made before, the process is simple, you make a donut with berries, that donut will have random powers, including alpha power,teensy power, sparkling power etc, like the S/V sandwiches, and then there's portals all over the map, you choose a portal and proceed to fast travel/teleport to reset the pokemon and get shinies really fast.
There's a time limit in those portals but you can just reset if you don't get what you want, plus while fast traveling the timer goes by really slow.
I'd suggest watching a video guide
As for grinding the base game, I don't see the point, the dlc builds upon the base game so you can just do both at the same time
