>You slept in.
>It was almost noon.
>Thankfully it was the weekend, and you didn't feel hungover.
>Just hungry.
>You waddled over to the kitchen in search of nourishment.
>You had some eggs that were eerily close to their expiration date, so scrambled eggs it was.
>The number of eggs was too much for you, however.
>But you'd rather avoid leaving any of those eggs to rot.
>Then your brain had the genius idea of giving some to Layla.
>After all, she had a stressful day behind and ahead of her.
>You turned on the TV for some white noise and got to cooking.
>This time it was more government autofellatioing their achievements in combating this crisis.
>In fact, this was a glorified advert for a fucking Bulbapedia ripoff that kept track of PIPS symptoms and turnee statistics by species.
>You'd check it out later.
>It might actually be worth a damn.
>Or it might be absolutely useless.
>Who knows at this point?
>You were most likely going to have to go through it anyway as a part of some new training.
>You only hoped it wouldn't be you put in the position of explaining it to everyone in the station.
>The captain knew about the Snorlax and Lisa but didn't know about any other turnees.
>Finally, you finished prepping the food.
>You divided it in half and put it on two plates.
>You went to Layla's room and knocked on the door with your elbow.
>"Are you awake?" you asked.
>The only sound she made was an acknowledging "uh uhh".
>"I had some spare eggs on hand, so I made you some scrambled eggs," you said. "I'm going to put the plate on the table next to the door if you want to eat it in your room."
>You put down the plate and went to your PC.
>Obviously you forgot what the website was called, but you finally did find it after some searching.
>It had several logos of national and supranational organizations at the bottom of the main page.
>WHO, CDC,UKHSA, ECDC, JIHS, ect.
>You proceeded to open the tab under the name of "general list".

>It was a list with every single Pokemon in dex order.
>You did a quick scroll down and up to get a feel for the site.
>Each Pokemon was in a box in a different color.
>Green, yellow, red, black.
>Apparently these were designations of how dangerous someone displaying PIPS symptoms might be.
>Some of those boxes were even covered in diagonal white stripes, which indicated that there were no reported cases.
>After some thought, you realized that the entire site was probably made for phone use.
>If you clicked on a box, it would reveal some stats and behavioral patterns.
>You decided to go through the statistics for your new friend group.
>First, Lisa the Salazzle.
>The box was yellow but also striped.
>So unless there aren't any other turnees hiding somewhere, Lisa might be the only Salazzle on the planet.
>You proceeded to Derek the Noivern.
>Red.
>3 registered turnees and 2 unregistered sightings.
>You hoped he didn't end up getting spotted anywhere near his house.
>Just giving the government the knowledge of this would make them try to search for him if they wanted to.
>He said he was out of state, however.
>He was going to come visit later in the evening, so you'd berate him about this then.
>You scrolled past Zorua and Zoroark, which were green but with white stripes, and Hisuian Zorua, which was black with white stripes.
>And now, Layla the Hisuian Zoroark.
>Black box with white stripes.
>No reported cases, no sightings, no nothing.
>Just a text in bold letters saying, "do not approach under any circumstances and report it to the authorities at the earliest given opportunity."
>"Fucking hell..." you muttered out while stepping away from your PC.
>It wasn't something you weren't expecting.
>In fact, it was exactly what you were expecting.
>The Pokemon known for using illusions is good at hiding.
>You just hoped that Layla was the only one because the consequences of another Hisuian Zoroark running around could be... ugly, to say the least.

>|I can see bottom. Is Empty| "Not how it works."
>There's a prissy huff from the little furball as it storms off. My feet hit the floor and I float a soda can over and enjoy the loud Crack-Hiss of sweet, glorious caffeine.
>I got used to the flavor. Suck it, Biology.
>I'm still rubbing sleep from my eyes as I brush up and then wander back into my livingroom. The place looks comfy.
>Being able to unpack with just the effort of my brain has been nice. So was incinerating the boxes in the grill so that I didn't have to head to the trashcans.
>No smoking phallus shenanigans, sadly. The angry abuela across the way no longer reacts to me.
>I have become the background noise to whatever she argues with her neighbor about.
>Works for me, watching her smack the old man with a chancla never fails to get me snickering.
>A snap of a finger and the Tv pops on and I pause, narrowing my eyes. Did someone dig this stupid shit out of a comic book?
> "On todays docket, federal officials are discussing a pokemon registration act, in order to document and safeguard-"
>I'm getting 'for the safety of the children' vibes outta this in the same way 'drink the verification can, we're watching you' big brother vibes.

>It might be worth a damn or it might be absolutely useless
I feel like "Schrodinger's Competency" has typified the US govt. response to the phenomenon throughout our stories.

>didn't know about any other turnees.
Wait what about that whole thing with the Emboar? What'd they even do with the Emboar, anyway?

Oh good, an INTERNATIONAL government Bulbapedia. This can only end so well.

I agree that Lisa being the only Salazzle feels kinda unlikely - unless we're saying the phenomenon is A LOT rarer than all our stories seem to have been implying so far. The fact that they've rated regular Zoroark as green also seems a bit dubious. Sure, it's not an ill-tempered Pokemon, but its illusions could still cause a lot of confusion, fear, and ultimately damage were one so-inclined or provoked. Then again, I'm talking to the WHO here, so I guess I really shouldn't expect any better.

On the plus side, if they didn't come for Derek that time he went night shopping, I don't see them coming for him now.

Things are only getting bigger, it seems. How long can Copanon maintain everybody's secrets?

Y'know, drawing up the full government list would be a fun creative writing exercise...

>I got used to the flavor. Suck it, Biology

I'm a little confused - did Phox move a single apartment over or something?

Ah yes, >>58991551 , being ignored and having to worry about ultra-authoritarian government. Normalcy!

Nah but for real though, it is nice that things have at least calmed down for her personally. Did she ever actually learn to fly, or did she just give up eventually?

Either way, incredibly great to have you back, Phoxanon.

Also, here's an updated FAQ:

>FAQ
>What is this?

>What the Hell is PIPS?
In many of the stories, the scientific community in-unvierse has begun referring to Pokemon instincts and the loss of humanity some people who transform experience as Pokémon Induced Psychosis Syndrome, or PIPS. The term is explained in more detail here: https://rentry.org/sip-concepts

>>58989577
Welp, I'm craving scrambled eggs now.
>>58989928
I love how you always try to incorporate things we do in the thread into your story. That global register of Pokémon seems like a logical, yet somewhat rushed thing. Does it distinct between humans and animals? Are animals on a separate list? How is the categorisation working, by Pokédex entries or purely by observation of turnees? Layla has a bad case of PIPS-A (yes, I'm gonna use the abbrevations now), but is every H. Ruse as potentially dangerous as she is?
If PIPS is dependent on the psychological health of the person before turning, wouldn't that be highly discriminating? Imagine turning into a H.Ruse with zero PIPS symptoms, yet you're getting scrutinised just because someone else has determined that Ruses are highly dangerous because of Layla's crippling urges. (Assuming she gets registered at some point)
Or make it the other way around. Imagine some Mon has a green border and then there is a violent case somewhere that "debunks" its harmlessness. What would happen to the list then?
Very interesting to think about and discuss! Terrific update, Copanon!

>>58989992
I think it's on the same timeline as Lucarioanon's, which is pretty early on after the phenomenon started. Like our Auradog, Derek, Hal and Layla, many people probably don't want to be seen and went into hiding. It makes sense that there wouldn't be all too many "public" cases yet.

>>58991323
Lopunanon returned last thread, and now Phoxanon (somehow) makes a comeback as well! Glad to have you back!
This "Pokémon Registration Act" would be far too realistic in our current real world, good one!

Thanks for the update, Macho!
I tweaked the PIPS rentry page to be grammatically more correct and restructured the spoiler segment. The descriptions of PIPS-A and PIPS-R can certainly be improved some more, so can the micro-analyses of the characters. Feedback is always welcome!

Mutant / pokemon registration act would be the FIRST thing people screamed about. Gotta get these dangerous creatures under lock and key, you know? They're *not* people.

>Yes, I said Beer out of it, Yes I've been going to the bar with some of my other discharged buddies.
>Half the squad you know?
>We see eachother in the group therapy sessions. S'pretty alright. Helps to remind us we're normal and this is part of the healing.
>"So, Doc, There I am, butt ass naked, wearing only my kpot, my LBV and boots, ankle deep in a bomb shelter that flooded with my dick out and a MRE spoon to defend myself from the mortars... and Phox... Phox shows up with a water hose and I shit you not - cackles as she turned it on me. Apparently when I ordered shrooms on my pizza, they gave me legit shrooms and I was tripping balls."
>I take a slow drink of the water in my hand as they all begin laughing hysterically, hiding the massive grin with the act.
>The therapist? Absolutely unamused.
>"Phox, do...you think you may have handled that..."
>"Differently? Oh yes. However, Doc, I was exhausted, I'd been out the wire for fourteen days straight, little rest, and we had no less than four firefights and two IED hits... I'm supply, I'm not even supposed to be near a gun I am rear with the gear, you know..safe... And then I get back in and this... animal in uniform is tripping, naked, raiding my supply room MRE boxes for spoons to arm us against the indigenous mole people..."
>I take a long, slow sip and hoist it up, grinning, "It behaves like a good boy or it gets the hose again."

I imagined that the system basically works on the assumption that you don't know how severe the PIPS-A is. So it basically assumes the worst case scenario and instead of asking the question of how severe are the symptoms it asks what the symptoms are.

Imagine that you have two tunees, a Chansey and a Hisuian Zoroark.
In one case you get a kind hearted creature that is going to heal you and feed you its egg.
In the other you get an undead revenant that rose from the dead thanks to spite for all living things, that is going to harm itself so it can kill.

Obviously the situation can be reversed with people who turned but don't display PIPS-A symptoms. The Chansey turnee might be a dick, and the H.Zork might be a decent person trying to live their life.

Such silly military stories are always a favourite of mine. It's those things that bring some humanity back in a war and is a nice contrast to the usual misery.

As >>58999354 alludes to, there aren't notifications or anything for when a Rentry gets updated. Unless it's one I'm updating myself (such as VetPhox or Golisanon), all I have is the link, so the only way for me to know a silent update had taken place would be to check every individual story when I go to update the archive. I didn't think to do that because normally people announce their updates in the thread so that people know to come read it. As such, you shouldn't take it as a sign we consider your story unworthy or anything like that.

Anyways, I had a feeling that was you, Churchanon (you shouldn't be afraid to advocate for yourself more, y'know), so I'll go ahead and correct my oversight. Most likely I'll give your update and Phoxanon's two new posts feedback tomorrow:

Might be a good idea to start namefagging then. I can't exactly do avatarfagging unless people are cool with me flooding the thread with unrelated Christian imagery.

Would love to see Phox continue to develop her powers and what she ultimately decides to do with them. You also mentioned on Discord wanting to write a scene about how Phox's warbuddies reacted when they first saw she had transformed. It'd very much like to see that, too.

Big of Isaac to admit. Nice to see that he's getting some colour and flawed humanity to him.

>It was the last place I expected to see somebody.
Ho boy, here we go again~

Yeah of COURSE it wasn't a normal animal, Isaac. You're not that lucky.

>“Water…”
Tilt your head back and open your mouth, idiot.

Nah, but in all seriousness, Hyphlosion, huh? At this point I'm starting to wonder if Isaac has been blissfully unaware this entire time that his church is built on an Indian burial ground or some shit. Would be interesting if someone came to investigate the unusual concentration of ghost types in this area, especially if they were to bring a very different religious perspective that Isaac would then have to grapple with.

I feel like the global supply chain would suffer a lot more disruption than a mere increase in interest rates if this were the case. Who would want to go to sea knowing that their chance of turning massively increases, and that they're likely to turn into a fish that can no longer have any semblance of a life on land?

So a paradise for the Throh owner, if an unintentional one.

>sadly to say
I mean it's only sad from the perspective of our ever-present love of shenanigans. Great outcome from VetPhox's perspective.

Your therapist sounds extremely professional. Whether I mean that sarcastically or not is very much in the eye of the beholder.

I'd make a joke about not wanting your windowlickers, but that feels a little too mean.

As for punching, Delphox may not exactly be specialized in physical attacks, but Pokemon tend to be uncommonly strong, so I'd bet VetPhox will STILL throw a mean right hook even then. Perhaps an opportunity to see that in action will arise at some point...

>I've got an orbiting ring of food, remotes, utensils
For some reason the first thing I thought of was the Jasper boss fight from House of the Dead: Overkill. I fucking love this - just VetPhox absolutely owning life in her new form. Her being so successful with her powers despite being instinct-low is cool, but I think a potentially much funnier interpretation would be if she DOES in fact have phox instincts, but has sort of wrested control of them for her own benefit, chaining them up like a snarling dog. Something to think about anyway.

>>59028095
Wrong "you're", and the perspective shift from first to third person between posts is jarring, but I like the implication that Mimikyu is a TERRIBLE pull for a compulsive, anxiety-ridden over-thinker. Realistically, people who know what a Mimikyu is will probably accept one's presence with a costume on, while those who don't know any better will just think it's "some weird Pokemon", or even actually be legitimately fooled by the standard Pikachu disguise.

>>59028803
Oh, cool! Not sure I'll be able to contribute to Michell's story, but I'll give it some thought. Maybe he has to deal with someone being a little too curious what's under the disguise, or perhaps he accidentally unmasks a Ditto and the two find mutual solace in another person who feels they have to disguise their true self.

>Fermi Paradox
Pfft. Humanity reaches the stars and joins the galactic council and there's just random Pokemon sprinkled among the gathering alien dignitaries.

"Ah yes, such transformations are something all nascent spacefaring civilizations have been forced to grapple with - seems yours has adjusted adequately. The mechanism still remains a mystery to our scientists, as I imagine it does to yours. I must admit, though, I've never heard of a species beginning to tell stores about such creatures PRIOR to the commencement of that species' transformations events. Most curious..."

I dunno if a sip/HFY crossover would be blursed or just straight cursed...

>alphabet orgs
Side "my FBI agent" one-shot from the perspective of someone who's been assigned to keep an eye on Phox when?

>How's humanity gonna recover from the mind bending paradox
Better than Lovecraft ever gave us credit for, I suspect.

>Which is to say my morals are properly fucked, mate.
And yet she's far more moral than the average punter.

Hehe. I love the, "all this power and THIS is what you use it for?" implications of phox stepping out of the apartment. It feels like that little bit of experimentation DigiGirl did at the pet store taken to the most wholesome possible iteration of its logical conclusion. Taking on a water type in a water fight is certainly a bold strategy, Cotton...

How do you reach escape velocity as a Lunatone though? An astronaut transforming into a space 'mon while up on the ISS or Tiangong would be an interesting wrinkle...

Pffft! I'm just imagining VetPhox striking magical girl poses without actually transforming - which now that I think about it is exactly what Braixen does in Pokken, so I guess basically that. Except this is (or rather was) a grown-ass human woman and so it just perfectly strikes the intersection of cute, cool, and cringe all at the same time.

>But I gave as good as I got.
Is that even possible when Azumarill is SUPPOSED to be in water anyway? But sure, go off believing it was a draw. : ^ )

I'd be careful with the pool thing - kids drowning is no joke. I'm normally the first to pour scorn on overbearing petty tyrants, but the apartment manager MIGHT have actually had a point with this one, in complete fairness... wouldn't wanna accidentally undermine the building's foundations or introduce a mold problem...

>did I just beat up some kid over them trying to rain on the playground?
Thaaat's Pokemon, baby! Although this was less of a traditional Pokemon battle and moreso two people using their powers to fuck with each other, which is an endearingly human thing to do. Wouldn't mind seeing a traditional battle between Phox and the Pikablue, though...

>I'm going to cook that mouse. Alive.
Seems Phox wouldn't mind that either.

Honestly, thankyou SO MUCH for keeping the thread alive, man, and in such a fun way, too. You're almost starting to take over from LarKurt in a way - that super-wholesome SOL stuff is always a great time.

It's good to see that you're starting to spin this idea out into a proper story, Emolganon. I like how it's a rambling, disconnected stream of consciousness from someone who's clearly never tried their hand at storytelling (or just entertaining in general) in-universe - that too feels very human.

>not sure why being up in a tree works well.
Sounds like you've got a few Emolga instincts coming into play. It also sounds like you're either living in another hotspot, or else not all of the Pokemon you're seeing are actually former humans.

Notably, we haven't actually gotten any vet characters in any of our stories yet. That'd be a good perspective to get.

>I guess if I can give a morale?
>if you're part of the electric rodent group like I am, get a cat tower I guess?
>you have, NO idea how much you wanna get on top of things until you do.
Haha! I'll keep that in mind, mate! By the way, never let anyone tell you your insights aren't valuable - the layman perspective on the phenomenon is exactly what we wanna see. Definitely hope to hear more about how you're getting on going forward.

humanity is revealed to have some kinda 4th wall breaking ability given we had pokemon then people turned into them.
Imagine someone turning into a Clefairy or Clefable while EVA - they dwell on the moon and all, so... suddenly the space agencies employ every clefairy/able they get their hands on lol

I have the feeling a lot of that would just be them sobbing quietly to themselves and drinking in a bar as Phox proceeds to fuck with them at every corner. I would. I've been in a free candy van, they're pretty roomy for all that gear.

Pokephiles get their biggest wishes granted, the bible belt in utter uproar like it's the great satanic panic 2.0, the Bri*ish try legislating people can't turn into pokemon, continue clutching pearls at unlicensed mons refusing to get a license to breath, Roll the dice for other countries... I can see life sucking in other countries where pokemon aren't widely known or understood... :|

Having bad morals doesn't mean one doesn't know right form wrong. I mean, whats stopping me from doing it batman, there's no laws against the lopunny.... *Ahem* Matter of fact, would it be a warcrime if you had a mind reading pokemon outright mindcontrol enemy combatants into shooting themselves? *Theres* a lot of terrifying things a Pshychic type can do - and thats before the implications of bodyhorror and such since, theoretically a Psychic-mon makes physics their bitch down to the atomic scale...
Water to wine? Blood to FOOF? (If you don't know what FOOF is, It's Excited to react with existence itself, and will burn things that patently will not burn.)

And yes. All this power and she's performing party tricks for a buncha kids in an apartment complex. It's good training. Azu in a psychic box filled with water is an exercise in 'can you drown a water-mon?'.

A lot of psychic types can literally divine the future. The military, law enforcement and any agency worth their salt would want one for themselves.
Phox is literally named after the oracle of Delphi.

Mind reading and mind control have been mentioned as reasons why people wouldn't trust psychic types, but being potentially complicit in some minority report kind of bullshit was not. Obviously the mon in question could just be using it to game the stock market, or trying to warn people about the future, but what if they don't?

You absolutely deserve to warm up and enjoy a normal lifestyle with your new condition. >When you're the most dangerous being in the room
>And all you wanted to do was keep on as a bank teller
>>
>The lieutenant rummaged through a bag at his feet and put a few identical looking, black blocks onto the leathery surface of the gym unit.
>"Okay, this is going to be the last discipline," he began. "Those blocks all weigh between 400 grams and five kilos."
>You thought you didn't hear the first part right.
"Wait, aren't there supposed to be five disciplines in total?" you asked puzzled.
>"Er, yes, normally there would be two more after this, but..." He stopped talking and started pushing the pieces of paper scattered around the makeshift table.
>"We've decided to combine the last three into a single, larger discipline," he finished, having apparently found what he was looking for on a page.
>He put the note in front of you.
>It was a crude drawing of an obstacle course with three posts marked on it.
>You studied the plan while the lieutenant explained some of the details.
>You were tasked to fly a predetermined path while carrying increasingly more weight.
>The three posts were: Crawling through shrubbery, climbing up a tree, and something the lefty called "accuracy gliding".
>The entire exercise was timed, just like the progressive endurance run of the usual test. Not only did you have to carry increasingly more weight, but you also had less time to complete the individual tasks as time progressed.
>Again, just like with the endurance run, the rhythmic timings were played through a speaker to provide auditory guidance.
>If you were out of sync too long and heard the officers whistle, you were out and needed to return immediately.
>"I hope you got all of that. To get the full 75 points, you'll be going around the course for approximately one hour." said the officer in conclusion.
>You took another good look at the plan written on the paper before you.
>You didn't catch any impossible tasks, nor something that would get too difficult as time went on.

>But you also didn't really know how the ever increasing weight would bother you, especially since the heaviest thing you had carried ever since turning was your phone.
>One last thing wasn't really clear.
"When do I change weights exactly?" you asked.
>"Oh, I forgot!" the lieutenant exclaimed and cleared his throat. "Every fifth lap there will be a very short break where I switch out your weights. The timer will be paused, of course."
"So I start with 400 grams and then it goes up by 400 every fifth lap up to five kilos?" you asked for confirmation.
>"That is correct, but..." he affirmed. "But there will be bigger steps after the two kilo mark."
>The officer sighted. "Admittedly, we only found eight weights that can be clipped to your harness."
>You nodded and glanced back at the plan.
>"Alright, prepare yourself for a warm-up lap. If you do something wrong and I'll see it, I'll whistle you back to me," the lefty instructed. "Aim for around a minute to complete a single lap."
>And with that, you began to prepare yourself for the warm-up lap.
>You started at the Swedish box and waited for the lieutenant's whistle.
>PHWEEEE!
>You hopped into the air, spread your wings and started dashing towards the nearby treeline.
>You landed at the foot of the marked shrubbery and began to make your way through.
>It was one of those bushes that bore small, red berries and had thorns all over.
>You were taken down memory lane to your childhood, when you used to crawl through shrubs like these all the time with your friends.
>You always wondered why the little sparrows and blackbirds liked to be in the thicket so much – and now you got to experience first-hand why they did.
>You, however, were no small sparrow. The undergrowth was dense and you had trouble fighting your way through.
>Your plumage protected you from the thorns, as long as you kept them away from your eyes at least.
>Keeping your head stable enough to not blur your vision kept you on your toes.

>After what felt like an eternity of going over and under thorn covered branches, you made it to the other side with both eyes unscathed.
>Your harness got caught by some of the twigs, but it held fast. Definitely something to look out for once the weight was attached.
>On to the next post―you could already see the small orange flag that marked the tree you were supposed to climb.
>It was a stately fir with very low-hanging branches.
><Ideal for climbing,> you thought to yourself while making your way to the base of the tree.
>You clambered up the trunk to the lowest branch using your beak for additional grip on the bark.
>The climb wasn't too bad, even though it made you feel pretty hot already.
>Ignoring the heat build-up, you proceeded to jump from branch to branch.
>You used the thinner branches elasticity as a springboard to ease your climb.
>You sometimes had to push yourself away in a different direction to not crash into the trunk or branches, but otherwise you were fine.
>Once you were near the top, you scurried along a thick branch back towards your starting point.
>It was time for the long glide back. There were some trees in the way and you weren't fully able to see the finish line...
>You jumped and started to glide towards where you thought the officer was standing.
>You weaved through the treetops of the small mixed forest.
>The plan said that you were allowed to fly regularly until you cleared the last tree, just so you wouldn't lose too much altitude.
>You dodged the gently swaying foliage with ease.
>You were nimble and cutting it close was a fun way to keep you occupied.
>As you flashed through, you felt one of the branches graze your right wing.
>You took mental notes of other possible flight paths for the real laps, just in case it wasn't the fastest route.
>Optimising this last part seemed important to catch up on lost time during the crawl and climb.

>You reached the last tree, another fir. You flapped once more to gain some extra height, then let the wind carry you towards your target: a bright red plastic hoop on the ground next to the Swedish box.
>You had found your third wire for the Case III, although your "Landing Signal Officer" seemed to not take his job very seriously, as he was just lazily looking at you with his binoculars.
>You glided further towards the plastic ring, but in your mind you didn't see a meadow anymore, but a vast ocean. Your target: a CVN with a lazy LSO guiding you in your approach. "Call the Ball," it reverberated in your mind.
><Firebird, clara,> you thought to yourself, amused, as you called the Ball — or rather, lack thereof.
>Instinctively you adjusted your angle of attack to get the best speed for the around fifty metres to the landing zone.
>You adjusted your yaw with your tail feathers ever so slightly. The wind was relentless, so you had to anticipate every gust.
>"Right for lineup," your telepathic LSO instructed you.
>You corrected by slightly twisting your wingtips like ailerons.
>With those corrections, you misjudged the updraft created by the wind — ten metres before target, you were still a fair bit above the optimal glide path.
>"You are high," You heard the LSO in your mind tell you.
>You adjusted your AOA by twisting your wings slightly forwards. You dropped down onto your ideal approach.
>Meanwhile, the wind continued to lash from your right. You could practically smell the salty spray in your nose.
>Right before you were over the landing zone, you leaned backwards to break your momentum, flapping once to terminate your flight.
>You landed slightly off-centre of the ring — second wire, drifted left...
>The harsh ocean and the swaying carrier gave way to the serene, mountainous meadow once again.
>>
>>59052607
>"Aaand time!" the lefty called out. "One minute and twenty-four seconds―not too shabby, although you could glide a bit quicker..."
>You acknowledged his remarks with a silent nod.
>The lieutenant noted down the time and a few other remarks on the sheet on his clipboard.
>Both of you had a quick chat about your experience during the warm-up lap.
>You told him all the difficulties you encountered and he vigilantly wrote everything down for the future bird-mon recruits.

>You're dreaming once again. How did it get like this? Memories of your success flood your mind.
>Riding high like a big roller, only for the dream to take a drastic turn: a tall man's face cast in shadow.
>You see him pull a gun on you, now a ghost outside your own body, watching him pull the trigger.
>You wake up screaming, finding your new body. It's not how it should be, and you look around frantically.
>Finding yourself in the ocean bed, among a sea of coral and Pokémon... Did you die, or was that life before you just a dream?
>Answers you had to learn, but put on the back burner for now... Now this body... you have to figure out how to move it.
>You jump forward, getting some pretty good movement. The sea around you puts pressure on you, but it's like you were designed for it.
>You throw out a jab, and it's seamless. Your body does all the work. You feel like you could body anyone with these "hands." Well, uh, tentacles.
>If that dream had any truth, you would make the man who betrayed you understand why you were the top dog.
>Revenge and riches: you always remembered that. Even your old man taught you that anyone can be bought and sold.
>Or know someone they could easily do the same. You may be an old dog, but you could learn tricks, and could teach them just as easily.
>A true rags-to-riches story, with a little revenge for good measure. For now, you needed to figure out where the fuck you were.
>Swimming up, you try to get a good sense of your surroundings: a lot of rocks and a lot of damn water. Man, kind of bland, isn't it?
>You see some nearby trainers. They were seemingly swimming around for Pokémon, no doubt.
>Sneaking nearby to listen in for potential hints.
>"Man, you hear about these Team Magma and Team Aqua guys?" "Yeah, they seem like bad news for Hoenn. Anyway, wanna head to Route 133? The rapids are pretty fun, the ride." "Hell yeah!"
>Hoenn, eh? Sounds like a good start, but before you get moving, you should probably get used to swimming.

Well, let's see how well I did...

It seems like Lucarioanon found some disused garage somewhere to squirrel Kat away in, and attempted to use the gear he got from Hal to measure just how much juice she can actually put out. The answer, perhaps unsurprisingly, was "yes" and it nearly blinded him. He's still trying to figure out how to tame such wild and dangerous power, and Kat doesn't seem to be in any hurry to reign herself in in the name of increasing her endurance - she'd rather just nap like the kat (heh) she is. It also seems like our boy may indeed be harbouring romantic feelings for her. Be very interested to see where that goes...

How'd I do?

>no plan beyond pile on and pray
Clearly all that newfound psychic type intellect has turned VetPhox into a tacticalgeniushurrr!

Not sure which is funnier, the gift or the fact that they actually make such a plushie.

Also, wait a phoxcuddling minute... is she psychically communicating with her cat and filling its food bowl FROM the game store...? If so, dang, that's impressive...

>>59052614
>We've decided to combine the last three
Totally not because the writer got sick of this whole bit already. :^)

This whole test totalling up to an hour kinda feels like they're juust starting to piece together just how ridiculous the capabilities and endurance of Pokemon actually are.

>Admittedly, we only found eight weights
Still working on the logistics to properly accommodate those capabilities, mind...

Once again we see Nick and birb in beautiful concordance as they both enjoy navigating the shrubberies and trees, and the imagination spot is very fun, even if some of the terminology escapes me. The little details of how Nick flies feel like you're nerding out like ProfD does with Pokemon Pit, which is always great fun. As for Nick, bro's just having the time of his life and I'm here for it.

>>59052911
Very interested to see how this goes once they start adding weight.

>>59052958
Though you still make quite a few errors, this is indeed a _much_ more interesting start. Bro got that early instalment Pokemon anime special, and I'm intrigued by the implications both that this might be our oldest protagonist to date and that such malfeasance runs in the family. There's all kinds of interesting things you could do with both of those ideas. I do kinda miss Thau eating coral and having a bit of a longer journey to find people, but overall you're definitely continuing to improve.

>>59062101
I'll have to do a writeup for yours later, but I'm STOKED you decided to take me up on that sailor idea, bluegillanon. Can't thank you enough for joining us on our stupid ride!
>>
>>59063288
>the Japanese Naturalist rules the games operate on
That might actually explain the strange disconnect every Pokemon generation after Gen 4 has from its predecessors. They're trying to capture more cultures without being able to understand them.
>>
>>59063357
Don't worry he's gonna still do the shanagains of the early part, just setting up a better intro for it without the whole vague god thing.
>>
Imagine all the brands around the world taking advantage of Pokémon being de facto public domain and using them as mascots and logos. Everything from nationwide law firms to mom and pop handyman companies.
>>
>>59065088
The big companies probably wouldn't have much use for it, but the little ones would certainly drift to them naturally.

I'll say immediately that I really dig the use of classic greentext style, even if the first post maybe goes a BIT too heavy on the fish-themed ".jepg" cracks. The combination of a bit of the Pokemon Pit-type nerding out with the protagonist seeming to be a complete chucklefuck is an appealing combination.

>spastic retard fish strength
I laughed.

With this we are getting perhaps the merest glimpse into what fishermen in the Pokemon universe have to deal with every single day. I know they may seem easy to overlook, but be sure to give your local fisherman trainers their due respect, people. Bro should just be glad the endless stubbornness of man didn't Darwin Award his ass... THIS time...

>i was waaaaay out of my depth
Ya don't say... Granted this man was hella unlucky to encounter not just a Whishcash, but an ALPHA Whishcash, from the sounds of it.

>the bluegill meta is evolving
I laughed again. I'm all for another early turnee story, so that's cool, but I THINK you're gonna need something bigger than a 50 cal for a Gyarados, mate...

I enjoy the romanticism of our protag's dream, and also how it feels like poetry written by a complete retard. It's honestly pretty great.

>i can feel my scales shuddering, and my tail curling in fear
>wait what
Happens to the best of us, mate. Is this the first time we've seen someone dream about their transformation before they first wake up to it? I might be dumb and forgetting one. Probably the fastest onset of PIPS we've seen in any event.

>a milotic.. gen 4?
Oooh, finna piss some people off with THAT one, Miolticanon... But hey, on the plus side, bro's finally fulfilled every 4chinner's dream of becoming a sexy beast. :^)

But in all seriousness, he does seem taken with the beauty of his new form and I do wonder whether that's the instincts talking or not.
>>
>>59066482
>DropOnTheDeckAndFlopLikeAFish
>Spongebob Squarepants!
>who the fuck turns into a giant fish and can sleep after???
Dahahahaha! Sorry, pal, you're here forever now! I do like how seamless the potential instinct intrusions (of which that desire for more sleep definitely feels like one) feel - you've got really good narrative flow.

Apparently driving a boat is way easier than driving a car. Definitely always good for the human half to get their problem-solving hat on right after the transformation.

>easy breezy beautiful. covereel
I mean this is definitely in the running for the funniest story we've had so far. Solid comedic stylings in this one too. To be fair to the dockhand, if a giant water serpent politely asked you to fetch their things, wouldn't you?

>Rarity voice
Fuck yes

Yeah this is among the solidest of starts that we've had to be sure, Bluegill. Like I said, I'm absolutely overjoyed to see you pick that idea up. Between you and Copanon, some of our best stuff's been borne out of my intense love of getting distracted by shiny idea objects and I honestly couldn't be happier or more grateful.

>>59065509
Pretty sure you could pet stuff with your tail if you were careful, Miloticanon.

>oh yeah, bottom of the bay
You know, just casually-like. Oooh, being down there in a sea serpent body DOES sound super-cozy, though. Maybe he and Golisanon can compare notes. Bro's attitude towards the yachter feels very relatable. The guy may look like a douche, but that doesn't mean he deserves to be washed away in a storm... doesn't mean we can't troll him a little while we do our good deed for the day, though... Being a hero but being a bit of a jackass about it definitely seems fitting for Milotic. the .jpeg bits here feel much better implemented than they did in post 1.

>oh i said that out loud
You really don't miss with the comedy, do you Bluegill? The "mermaid eel voice" part damn near made Phoxanon cack his pants. You are a TALENT, sir.

Welp, so long as /sip/ is alive and riding high here, this seems like as good a time as any to announce that I'm currently laying the foundations for a tabletop RPG campaign that is open to all /sip/ authors. Using the Pokeymanz system (a rules lite system that focuses more on bringing across the feel of Pokemon rather than its mechanics - this is no "only grognards need apply" deal like Pokemon Tabletop Adventures), I'm endeavouring to bring to life a setting I've been putting together for a while now - Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Moderne. PMDM is set in the future of the Mystery Dungeon world as we know it from Super Mystery Dungeon, with the Pokemon having achieved a ca. 1990 level of technological progress. The campaign will focus around a treasure hunt for lost secrets and artefacts buried deep beneath a bustling metropolis situated on the southern tip of the Water Continent. Fun - if rather dangerous - adventure below ground will be counterbalanced by gentle slice-of-life beats on the surface, as the players get to know the city and all the weird little quirks and innovations the information age brings to a Pokemon-built society.

We will be using a play-by-post model, whereby players contribute via text to the current scene in the story when and as they can. This avoids the often insurmountable problems of trying to arrange session times.

If you'd be interested in joining, let me know and myself and the other peeps already signed up (which currently consists of Phoxanon, Mienshanon, Kartanon, and Herdinganon) will arrange to send you the credentials of a dummy Discord account you can contact. Alternatively, we can arrange to run the campaign via Element/Matrix if a majority of players would prefer that.

Please note that I only intend this to be a fun side activity for the silly little community we've built here - not any sort of substitute or replacement for /sip/. Peeps who agree to participate are strongly encouraged to prioritize /sip/ over the campaign.

>I tell myself I am not going to participate in what going to probably be the bestworste decision of my life as I stretch. Memorize the location and then promptly turn the paper to cinders in the grill outside.

>>
>>59068308
read immediately, consider it like a self-help guide
>>
>>59068308
Is it demeaning? Yeah. Do I have any clue what I'm supposed to do with all this fur? Absolutely not, so I have to read it.
>>
>>59068308
I mean people apparently didn't find wikiHows demeaning, so...

again, thanks a ton for tha luv amd feedback! honestly knowing ppl enjoy my stupid wisecracks make me want to keep going. also i totally did pull from golisopodanon's PIPS instincts with water pressure and depth. i would imagine golisanon's would be more extreme since the isopadre itself is more of an abyssal mon and milotic is supposed to be freshwater/brackish. serious about the fishing gear, though. basspro sells overstock and clearance to smaller tackle shops. great deals on swim bait for the same quality.

Funny enough, even though this is a completely different protagonist, the transition from him imagining all the stereotypical ways a don might rid themselves of him to awkwardly thanking the guard does remind me a lot of ProfD.

>beautiful and supportive
>this crazy bitch
Something something crazy/hot scale.

>some delusional Persian
I'm just imagining a mob boss actually turning into a Persian and his reaction as he stares at his new paws basically being, "...you gotta be fuckin' kiddin' me..."

Honestly I'm not sure what to rave about first in the second post - the office made of rubbish, the fact that the owner seems to be a genuine, sincere lover of trash who just happened to become his ideal Pokemon, the fact that the daughter is 100% okay with this, or the total and beautifully absurd subversion of all the protagonist's expectations. It's all just pitch-perfect.

>I guess it takes one to know one eh?
>Sorry, the jokes come easy when you’re a Garbodor. You’ve got to laugh or cry in these situations and I’m tired of being sad.
I want SO BADLY to know how this guy initially reacted to his transformation...

This guy clearly has a flare for the dramatic given the shotgun thing. I'd love to see him put an entire play portrayed solely through the medium of rubbish.

>nothing invasive
Me when I I lie. At least he's nice about it, but still... you're KINDA Big Brothering it up right now, garbage man... Don't get me wrong, I respect you and would follow you to the ends of the Earth, but this still needs to be said.

But hey, in the end bro is thoughtful and swell. Flawed, but appealingly human and a very engaging personality. I honestly wouldn't mind reading more of this, Prof, even though I know this was only meant as a one-shot. How many times have I said that in these threads by now...?

>rude but cool
I think that summarizes you in a nutshell, VetPhox...

Her sincere excitement at the prospect of Pokefight club mirrors my own. We got a glimpse of this sort of thing when Larson and Kurt busted that Honedge and Tyrantrum, but getting a more full-fledged, start-to-finish insight into how it work is going to be incredibly fun. It's also just been generally rare to see transformees battling for fun in /sip/ - the stakes have usually been more life-and-death. I'm curious about so many things - how it'll work, how it'll look, whether VetPhox will dominate or if it'll turn out that she's merely been a big fish in a small pond this entire time, whether the cops will try to bust them, and whether her glee is purely her own or if some of that Delphox instinct she normally has well-restricted is leaking out here.

>I tell myself I am not going to participate
Pull the other one - it plays Jingle Bells.

>I lost the goons tailing me.
I'd still love to get a side one-shot from the perspective of the Keystone Spooks trying and failing to wrangle this floofy, adorable threat to national security. Not sure why the fight club being in a campground is ironic, though. There's only so many places you COULD do something like this.

>I even have seen some of them in the news
Oooh, do tell!

Hehe, sounds like Phox is enjoying being just one of the peeps and not the absolute center of attention for once. Dis gun be FUN...

Aaaand we're back, folks.

So I guess Miloticanon figured out how to work his Chromenook off-screen. Would've been nice to see that.

It would've been nice to see the moment he actually met the guy and they agreed to work on this problem.

Oh no, an hole! I might break a scale! But jn all seriousness, sounds like the noodle (heh) incident that caused this trauma would be worth elaborating on. Be curious who this guy that quit fishing over it was.

Kek. Scales are sweaty, tube's weak and heavy, noodle's spaghetti!

Yeeeah, that's never a good sign...

Aww, Miloticanon snuggling a seal sounds adorable! Dig the horror movie vibes as he and old mate can only watch helplessly while this Gyarados aurafarms. I'm wondering how exactly old mate is proposing they catch this thing considering Miloticanon had no battle experience and is, at best, understandably nervy at the prospect. Maybe you guys need to put a help-wanted ad out for an electric type...

This bit's honestly held back a little by stuff that was skipped, but I'm REALLY looking forward to the moment when Miloticanon is forced to sack up and actually try to fight this thing. That's gonna be very, very interesting...

It’s a touch strange that he’s taking everyone in such stride, including the speech filter and abandoning his life on land (or is he forced to live underwater for biological reasons and I missed that?). On the other hand, we have enough post transformation angst from other writers that it’s nice to see a straight adventure.

>>59076131
Pffft, because course a cop decided to wrestle a Bouffalant just because he could...

Wait, who the Hell showers with their MRE spoon?

Between the Jigglypuff and the self-lighting bonfires, they've got the right dramatic flair, but I feel like a chaotic free-for-all loses some of the potential spectacle of Pokemon battling. Folks oughta be watching the flashy, impressive moves and taking bets. Just my two cents.

Again with the utter disrespect, but VetPhox quickly learns that she's playing in the big leagues now. Almost getting BTFOed by a rat is a harsh lesson she shan't soon forget. Rat did get a bit lucky he wasn't immobilised by the recharge turn though. Maybe that was the Ketamine.

I love the fact that VetPhox's stick being on fire is completely ancillary until the Gurrdurr shows up. Call it a relapse if you like, but becoming a Pokemon is kind of an intrinsic, permanent relapse under the circumstances...

>hear the air reject reality
Even in anime, all that force has gotta go somewhere....

With all this fresh head trauma, let's just hope Pokemon don't get CTE. It seems clear all of VetPhox's usual showboatiness is, in this situation, just making her a bigger target. Seems no small part of her likes it that way, though...

I'd still like to see her in a more conventional Pokemon battle, but hopefully she finds what she was looking for by coming here.

He seems to have moderately severe PIPS and I get the sense he was already a bit of a loner before he transformed, making the bottom of the bay the ultimate NEET cave. Fair suggestion that bluegill could explore that a bit more, though.

Espeon’s my favorite but a little too girly. I’ll go with Meowstic. With my luck lately I’m sure I’ll get Bruxish or something…

Stuck, not stick. Anyways, just tell the boss he had a "personal emergency". While the jokes are obvious and I'm sure the rest of the thread ignored your post for being "too fetishy", I at least thought it was amusing.

I mean a kiddie pool would be more than big enough for your wee flying squirrel ass, wouldn't it? You could always get yourself one of those until you learn to properly control your powers (we've seen electric types swimming without incident plenty of times, so we know it's possible). At least no one was seriously hurt, it sounds like. Don't beat yourself up too much, man - mistakes happen.

Oh mai. Are mariner protagonists of various sorts going to become a trend? I am 100% in for this to be a trend. Poke submarine crew member next, dare I dream?

>home country
>Begins sentences with "is"
Slavic protag? Oooh, this'll be a fun perspective on the phenomenon'll be a fun one to hear from.

>but is better than being size of sardine, no?
I like this one already.

Huh. Meltans, huh? Seems rather unlucky they just happened to get a cluster of them in this vicinity.

>best practice according to the Slav is wrenching Meltans around by their hex nuts
Offf course. Hmm, deep water with lots of teeth... Huntail...? Or maybe not even a Pokemon at all. Either way, a rather unfortunate day to have lungs. Thank Arceus for Slavic stocism in the face of everything being dogshit, huh? Good deeds may seldom go rewarded, but this time... this time the phenomenon had other ideas... Gotta say, Hulk-bursting out of your diving suit is one helluva way to transform into a Pokemon.

>notice is of cannon barrel. Two, even
>Feel like part of me
Tankies everywhere WISHING they were this diver right about now. The point about the outside matching the inside is interesting - superficial observations of water pressure aside, it sounds like we have another Nick situation where the choice of Pokemon was extremely ideal for the person - hope to see that expanded upon if you decide to continue this. Also the fact that Blastoiseanon immediately starts using them as carry holders - I love it.

>I have a job to do so I am going to do such
>Overtime pay is going to be very generous.
Man, when your reaction to transforming into a Pokemon is, "Welp, better finish my work and get this bread", that isn't merely Slavic stoicism, that is... advanced Slavic stoicism... I'm not sure on the realism of it taking them two hours to send a rescue party (or, more properly, a body retrieval party), but I'll just assume it's correct - gotta do lots of special prep-work for this kinda dive, I'm guessing?

>for once thankful had foresight
Better to have it and not need it, right? Love how even after finishing the work Blastoiseanon is more concerned with food than they are about the whole Pokemon thing.

>Swolla has evolved into Blastoise.
>And then I panic.
>I don't know how to of swim as turtle.
First of all, as the other anon said, quite funny. Second of all, ahhh, so you ARE capable of such emotions after all I see, Swolla. Bit of a weird name, would that be Mr. or Mrs. Swolla? Heh, anyways, man, I can really only imagine what Frank and John must've been thinking in this moment.

This is a great and very engaging start, with TONS of potential for where it could go. Really hope to see you write more.

anon, look at me. honestly.
in what world would someone living alone, no pets, buying a kiddie pool seem normal. and better yet how am I going to move it where it needs to go? not like I've got a back garden to put it in.

Wasn't entirely certain how Swolla'd be received, however I'll probably post more, the idea hit me and of course, couldn't help but base this on a Tortle D&D character I ran once. Mystic barbarians are hilariously fun.

Here's the updated FAQ that I posted earlier again:

>FAQ
>What is this?
People are turning into Pokemon. Some are having the time of their lives, and some are struggling to survive. These are their stories.
>How do I join?
Just start posting.
>What's the lore?
People and animals (and at least one tree) are changing at random in their sleep, waking up still in the real world, but now as Pokemon, and nobody knows why (that includes you. Please don't try to explain it). Just enough transformations are occurring to notably change day-to-day life without collapsing civilization. This is not the apocalypse, even if it might feel like it to some characters in the moment. Some people are more in touch with their instincts than others, and some have lost more of their humanity than others. That's about it. Avoid legendaries if possible.

Man, we TONS of new content this thread, didn't we? You lot are so incredible it's actually absurd.

I am looking at you, mate. Did you already forget that you're a smol, adorable flying squirrel now? If you don't have anywhere for a kiddie pool fair enough, but NOBODY'S gonna bat an eye if you did buy one.

Again, weird name for a human to have, but she seems awesome so far otherwise.

>Did you already forget that you're a smol, adorable flying squirrel now?
I am TRYING to have at least a little self respect. I can excuse the walnut stockpiling because I liked those anyway, and the climbing stuff because... come on now. and MAYBE I've mistook a doll or two in my collection for another PIPS case once or twice.
but I have to draw a line somewhere.
