Hello, how you are all doing? I found this image of a dragonite balling too hard
I have been having issues learning linear algebra, but beyond that, I have been wondering what to do to make Gene be less one not, one thing I was thinking was just making an interview and hoping with the question he gets asked I can start building up a personality that is more than just a few snippets of lore here and there.
I have been busy these days too because of the new month and having to organize accounting shit for my part time job, it wasnt that bad but it takes time that It could be used to work on some new stuff.

Yeah it was not a mechanic since the Hoenn remakes, Which was surprising to see, I wonder what they plan to do to make the diving mechanic less annoying since in hoenn the issue was similar to how the temple of water in TLoZ OOT was kind of a slog having to take on and off the boots to advance.

Is sad that when Diving is a machanic people tends to make it very limited.
In some games you can swim, but dive is limited to "you found something, press X to get it". You dive, but only for a moment to get an item.
Other times diving is restricted. I remember a DBZ game where you could dive for fish, but only for a moment. You could improve your chances if you equip scuba gear, but it becomes end-game items in the last store.
I think the only game that did it right was Subnautica, and even then is still very restrictive.

Whereas in DnD a character usually just has one class and gets all their features from there, in PTU, trainers can dip their toes into multiple classes (I believe 4 total) and gain access to different class features for which they qualify when they want. There's not really a strict "this is the level 1 class feature, this is the level 3 class feature", etc., but a lot of features do build off each other. For example, Tiffany's currently a level 11 trainer and she has class features from Fashionista, Cheerleader, and Sage. So yeah, a bit more free flow than DnD I think.

Zubat/Crobat basically followed him after he came out of their home cave, stalking him because he had fruit, and Gene lead zubat back to his home cave, after 3 times Zubat followed him he gave up and offered Zubat to come with him on his travel
Absol was being attacked by some people because of his attempts at communicating disaster, Gene was aware of the meaning of his presence so he helped Absol as he was being attacked, after the conflict Absol decided to stick with Gene
Mimikyu was found as he helped in a supermarket about some pokemon being a nuisance around the building, Being mimikyu that mon
After Gene lead Mimikyu outside the market and try to give him a nicer spot, he kept following Gene, so Gene captured it.
Riolu/Lucario is the one I dont have a specific story for, But I do want their meeting to be Riolu seeing Gene, and deciding to stick with him because of personality or Aura stuff.

That is also part of the motives for the journey, He gets a certain amount to spend from his parents, then if he needs or wants to buy something that is not inherently necessary, he will try to earn his own money to buy it.

Spongy pieces in the back and sides. Most are made of breathable fabris, so your feet don't stink, and usually have dynamic lines for a "sporty" design.

Actually, his first pokémon is Swampert. He found as a Mudkip near a swamp in route 114.

That's part of David's backstory: after the Fossil Maniac dig inside the mountain, he released a group of Dittos inside.
At first it was neat, "oh, a new Pokémon to capture!". But as time went on, many Dittos reproduced and spread across the area. Now they are an invasive species hunting near routes 114 and 113. Fallabor Town started a small "pest control" business, so a guy can hunt Dittos for a few coins.
David once hunted the deleted beta version, and he is scared of the possibility of an evolution existing.

Well, it's a good team dynamic. Mud (Swampert) is the big goofy nice guy, Blaze (Blaziken) is the stoic yet very introverted serious strong guy, and Sweep (Sceptyle) is the cool and laid back smart hit-and-run dude.

It's the style I'm used to. I mainly wrote greentexts, so is kind of my comfort zone.
ESL also counts because I'm ESL, and when I write, I make tiny mistakes because I remember the pronunciation more than the actual grammar.

I never posted here before, but I wanted to ask you guys what you think about this idea I have for a trainer OC

It's a person with narcolepsy, and Drowzee/Hypno is her service pokemon. There are actual narcolepsy service dogs, some of their skills include: detecting and warning about upcoming sleep attacks, recognizing and helping with nighmares/sleep paralysis, waking the owner, guarding them while they sleep in public to avoid injury, cushioning the owner's fall (Drowzee/Hypno could also do this with psychic abilities if the trainer is out of reach), deep pressure therapy, fetching medicine, getting help, and much more

Most people with narcolepsy also suffer from insomnia, so Drowzee/Hypno would be very useful. And I imagine they'd be good at detecting upcoming sleep attacks

Well it will make your mons more distinguishable from others, that is partly why all of Piper’s and Roses mons have nicknames but the big reason I give them nicknames is mainly based on how popular I think the story would be or the demographic I aim for. If my story was E for everyone and made to appeal for a wider audience I would avoid nicknames because it will confuse normal people(probably why ash never named Pikachu). But since my story is ment for a smaller audience nicknames are a fun addition(^v^)

I had to scrap giving Midori the Solosis line due to errors with the model

Now It does make me wonder his typings. Since godzilla came from the ocean. The dark type kind of makes sense with that logic, but I imagined they would have made tyranitar be an ocean dweller rather than a rock/desert monster.
It is interesting how he is probably one of the first few Pokemon with no clear example or point of reference.

Well, mine doesn't change much. David and Mud (Swampert) may as well be twins because they share the same braincell: get stronger and have fun.
But it would be interesting to see him with other "forced" starters. He gets new ones in Kalos and Galar.
In Kalos he ditch his original team to lay low, so his starter is a misbehaving Froakie. The idea is a more "mature" story where he has to learn discipline and self control since he is in a place and with a team he didn't wanted. Only because the situation is against you, it doesn't mean you can't make something for yourself. Plus, I wanted to make an "Ash-Greninja" where his mega "isn't" a mega. It is a ninja, but with a twist. They didn't used ONLY shurikens to fight after all.
The second "forced" starter would be a childish Grookey. After failing spectacularly with his crush, David uses the "Galar customs" excuse (Dexit) to send his OG team to Hoenn, and he gets to whine and mope in PokéBritain. Grey, cloudy, humid, and depressing; the perfect mood for a sad guy!
The idea is that Grookey would make him learn to move on. Bad times happen just as good ones, so don't be afraid of being hurt or angry. You will smile at the end!
This would affect his evolution. Rather than being a gorilla with a drum set, he would be a gorilla with a "musical body": hand claps, chest beats, loud screams, using tools and junk to make noise. Ever saw the Tarzan scene where the monkeys break everything? That would be him.

This is one thing that I also want to flesh out, Just recently I started thinking about the Pokeballs for each of my mons with that new sheet I did.
The ones I kind of have a clear idea are mimikyu, Lucario, and Serperior
Mimikyu still wants to have friends, so he would be childish or he would be like a curious little critter looking around and be curious of everything
Lucario is just Goku
Serperior due to being a "royal's pet" He is pretty snobbish and with an ego, but still not stupid enough to do something akin to fight a Fire type or fight someone that clearly outclasses him, He will still consider himself superior in other ways but he will give credit where is due.
Crobat, absol and Eevee are more nebulous, since he got caught because of food, I imagine him as a gluttonous creature, and beyond that is blank
Absol I imagine is going to think himself as weak or really insecure of himself, and maybe imply that beatdown wasn't just a one time occurrence for him.
Eevee just eludes me, Beyond making him have that funny strat of protect/last resort I dont have anything for him beyond just not wanting to evolve because he doesnt want to commit yet, to be a mirror of Gene's own situation, so he carries a everstone most of the time.

The only Pokémo he retains with him are Mud (Swampert), Sweep (Sceptyle), and Blaze (Blaziken).
He makes one exception: when he starts in any new region, ONLY Mud remains with him. The other two make odd jobs around the town so he can get some money. After that, he captures anything local to get a feel of the challenges ahead.
After that, he challenges whatever the equivalent of the Battle Frontier is, and stays a bit to relax.
As for the Pokémon he captures: he stays with them until he finishes the League. After that, he normally trades them away or give them back (if they were leased).
So far, his captures were:

>Sceptyle (first "unnoficial" capture)
>Linoone (Given away to a building at Rustboro)
>Gardevoir (Stays at home)

>Dodrio (became a mascot at Fuchsia's Safari Zone)

>Heracross (given to Bugsy mainly out of pity because he needed a powerhouse)
>Togekiss (given to the daycare south of Goldenrod)
>Houndoom (given as a patrol dog to Goldenrod's Police Department)
>Staraptor (sent to Falkner after the circuit so he could take better care of him)
>Bibarel (became Hearthome's Poké Park mascot)
>Luxray (ran away. Had a jealous personality and couldn't stand sharing David with his trio)
>Roserade (released at Floaroma to enjoy the breeze and the gardens)
>Magmortar (given to the Sinnoh Steel Works as a helper)

Well, I wanted to bring her back in a cameo. David visited Almia and was a ranger for a while. Luxray would reappear at that moment.

Well, yes and no. He would love to keep all his Pokémon, but he also knows that taking care of fully evolved Pokémon is a bit complicated and expensive. They need more care than shouldermons.

This is the main reason I hope they one day they do some kind of monster raising game, or even a tamagotchi, Pokemon tends to circumvent this detail a lot, and I think it would be really interesting if we have to work on a daycare thing or something similar to the spaces we leave our mons to do stuff. I understand why they cant do tamagotchis due to how linear Pokemon is, but they could 100% do a pokemon daycare game.

Since its going to be between Orre and Unova, what are you considering to be the normal environment of the region? For example Orre is kind of a desert /madmax zone, while Unova is more New york and such. or are you planning to make the region an inbetween of these 2?
From what I know about world building, one of the main things you should always check first is how they would get usable water or food in each location, and then consider the society of each city from there.

I hate to be that guy but is it really a good idea to use someone’s art for next thread? We are approaching the first anniversary of “the thing that’s the reason the threads are like this now” and if something bad happens again I don’t want someone’s artwork to be associated with it like last time. Obviously we remember what happened last year but some of us have forgotten that in April 2024 there was an apocalyptic porn raid on /vp/ that nearly slid us off of the catalog and caused a new user to leave.
