i think they both solidly stand up on their own with most of their differences having their own strengths/flaws with stuff like old gen mons giving more options but being a less structured experience... i may be biased because i started with bw1 and only played 2 a couple years ago, but i overall lean towards 1.in particular for me the extra(post) game content of 2 obviously does wonders for replayability and continuing to enjoy one save file, but bw1 feels way better as an experience with a definitive end as >>59130714 said. i'm probably waxing poetic here but bw1's endgame also leaves this feeling for me that i can only describe as lonely, almost empty anticipation that you know won't be fully resolved, and it's something i really enjoy. it feels a lot less vibrant and isolated outside the main population areas(in a good way) and there are plenty of loose ends and mysteries that you're just kinda left to speculate on with the knowledge that it's out of your hands, but they're virtually all easily accounted for in b2w2. basically bw1 feels like a better rpg but b2w2 is a better pokemon game, and with each new game making me question if i truly like pokemon i'm defaulting to liking the former
>>59129988It's probably the best first version, which isn't saying much since it's kind of a retard fight and every other game shoots itself in the foot in unique and exciting ways. About the only real negative is the campaign is a little easy and there's a few too many cutscenes, but when other first versions are even worse about that it's pretty easy to forgive especially when it is on average second best compared to the high points of basically every other first version. It's hard to compete with amazing overall packages like Emerald or HGSS, but I'll give it credit for not having something so bad it straight up puts me off an otherwise good video game like USUM (yes I get filtered by the cutscenes in that game, the time spent waiting for characters to fucking turn should not be a thing I have to endure let alone the rest of it).
