Stomping Tyrantrum Edition>I want to learn the game, where do I begin?Download PTCGL at https://tcg.pokemon.com/en-us/tcglThe game has a quick tutorial and a bunch of decent decks to get you started against other beginners or against the AI. Some of those decks are very close to meta too. Why did they reprint that Dragapult card
>>59139590Reminded me to post mine
>>59139984because you touch yourself at night
Can someone please explain to me how this is being played? I genuinely don't understand how this card is useful
>>59140156Free retreat basic that counters other free retreats, bulky enough that won't instantly eat shit to most early/mid game mons.Or zoomers getting nostalgic for XY
>>59140156Trapping good (that said Maractus can be better depending on the deck). Locking your opponent out of the attacks they want to use while you snipe their bench is a powerful thing to do.
>>59140156Retreats for free so it sinergizes well with pecharunt. Having those two on field means all your pokemon virtually have no retreat cost. The clutch attack is a nice bonus, that way you can stall to catch up in case you get left behind your opponent (boss orders > fezandipiti/latias/etc > clutch)
>>59140156Catches people lacking if they don't have Switch in their deck, especially now that Turo is gone.
>>59139828I would close Live and uninstall
>>59140644>LiveThe greatest satisfaction in life is doing this irl and watching your opponent physically clench and sigh out loud. Almost on the same level of playing a devious devastating devolution, pure distiled dopamine.
>>59138781>>59139277But this is where the disconnect is. The judges claim the issue wasn't him fucking up the board state, and that they would have corrected it.It's literally the act of taking off the headset and nothing else that caused the DQ because it was "dangerous".If the cause of the DQ from the judges mouth was "you can't celebrate a victory" like it was for the Go guy, I'd just call the judges joyless fags. This is clearly the same intent, but for some reason, they refuse to state the same reason. So what the fuck is up with that incompetence?Mind you, I'm not defending this guy, but clearly the judges have a disdain for people feeling joy when winning and want to punish them.Like even if they said it was BM to celebrate before finishing the match. I'd get it, but it seems like that wasn't the problem.
Is it possible to break into TCG standard without breaking the bankI want to go to my local shop and make friends.I don't know how to play. How can I learn on my own
>>59140762pokemon's standard format is the cheapest and most accessible out there. the easiest way to learn on your own is to download PTCGL on either mobile or desktop and play some games
>>59140762tcglive to play the game onlinefinding and building a deck IRL can be a pain in the ass. Most LGS stores don't seem to have commonly used cards for sale, you're reliant on guys bringing bulk playable cards, which no one does unless it's upon request. If you buy the cards from TCGplayer, you got about a week to 2 weeks of downtime before all your shit comes in. Budget 20-30 bucks for a meta deck.
Is ceruledge still the fastest ladder deck?
Now that I think about it, this was probably the best thing any new player could've bought last year.
>>59140781>Most LGS stores don't seem to have commonly used cards for sale,This entirely depends on where you are. Around here (Mexico) most stores have plenty of readily available singles
>>59140971>tfw I bought the garde deck instead
What's the average age herem. I'm in my late 20's and not sure how weird it would be to get into this now.
>>5914118218-34 at my locals. I don't know any children that play.
>>59141182I would bet my left nut most anons here are at least 30. Most people who play at my local store are in their late 20's - mid 30's. It makes absolute sense when you consider pokemania was at its peak around year 2000.
>>59139828it wouldn't be so bad if 80% of the playerbase wasn't doing the exact same thing to the point where you might as well be against bots
>market price is $5.52The perks of not being a waifumon.
>>59140002>>59139590Thanks bros! A few were taken but I got the rest, just came back to the game after being out since lugia V rotated.
>>59141182there's kids at my locals but they're all there because their dads are into the game so average is probably 30s or late 20s
>counter catcher and iono have rotated so the apes have to cling to the one other way to just meat puppet every game
...is what my post would say if I were just saying shit that doesn't mean anything.
>>5914118234 but just rejoined because my 5 y/o is super into pokemon and I play other tcgs (lorcana is my primary, fuck magic post 2020)
Arboliva with Noctowl or without Noctowl?3 or 4 Ogerpons?
>>59141752I was meaning to look into this more because I was seeing Japanese people do it, and my first game I drew both and won turn 2 and then I started playing Deadlock so I haven't played any other games. I'm not really sure why it's a 1-1, so I was going to try both it and 2-2 but I'm not sure what I would take out of my pile for it, but the idea itself seems fine. I'm running 4 Ogerpon regardless because I already mulligan a lot more than I feel like I should.
>>59141770I'm using this at the moment
>>59141783Just testing it out, it feels good but I've had the Noctowl prized more often than not so hard to get it, I don't know if my Live is bugged but it's been 4 games prized in a row
>>59141783This is the list I'm running at the moment, just with 11 energy and 2 stretcher, and then -2 eswitch for a 4th ogerpon and 3rd pad. I thought about Eswitch when first playing the deck but I opted not to but I've also yet to run into a scenario where it would have gotten me a knockout so take that as you will.
>>59141791Nah I agree with you, I think if you get it early and you're able to get a kill turn 2 with Ogerpon it's good but that's unlikely, 2 stretchers might be better
>>59141275>fossile Shame, it should be good in the Starmie deck
>>59141788Just dog shit luck.I could have won 40 bucks in locals today and it all hinged on 4 cards in my deck one of them being a hammer so I could kill a mega lucario, and run away drawing the other 3 cards I didn't need.At a certain point, it just all comes down to luck desu.
>>59141752the noctowl line seems good in the deck but I've rarely seen it get set up since arbolivia relies on bug catcher to get anything and your bench is usually clogged with ogerpons.
We may complain about the live devs a lot with all the card bugs and interactionsbut least the VGC players are getting the same treatment in their new client KEKhttps://x.com/CayenneVGC/status/2041773048781480404
>>59144994Yes but does Dragapult actually have a Focus sash held?
>>59145371Not any more
Is that single prize Okidogi deck any good?
Half of my friends are playing grass slop so Zoroark is out of the picture. Either I run Grass slop or bring out Pult...
>>59146040it felt good when I played it>>59146304blaziken pult is great against the grass slop decks. especially if you include the shaymin.
>>59146333I have a list for it but I don't have a ton of practice with it. I guess I can try it out.
>>59146371>I don't have a ton of practice with it.in my experience it plays like a pult deck except now you don't have to worry about energy attachments anymore.
>>59146304>mad cause he wasn't invited to the festival
>>59146304>calling other decks slop>playing pult
>>59141607Is lorcana fun? It looks interesting but it would be difficult for me to not feel like an enormous faggot playing it in public
>>59146952It's fun, less "mental upkeep" and angle shooting opportunities than Magic but built on the same frame. Having most cards usable as "lands" is a nice change. No instants makes it less "feel bad" but is the source of the lower complexity. The player base tends to be far more female and fewer traditional gamers or sois than other tcgs, in my experience. The art is top tier, if you like Disney. Pixar coming in the next set, Mayish release date.
What is the endgame for the ogerslop deck?
grass is bliss
I just bought a MEG box because I need 1x Meganium for friday.
>>59147779Replaced by Beedrill because this is Arboliva's deck
>>59148638>just get rid of your draw engine broLmao. Beedrill is more likely to replace Arboliva and or Meganium than the one card that makes the deck function.
>>59148958History has already proven you wrong
This is what I ended up with.
>Waited ages for rotation>It's here>Barely logged in and not even made/netdecked anythingWhat keeps you motivated
>>59149395r commanding for 320
>>59147144Interesting. Is it better than Pokemon? I'm a Disney Parks fag but generally don't care about any of the characters other than Mickey and the gang
>>59149247I like it, I ended up playing noctowl one today went 2-2 at my local only got to use noctowl once
>>59147144Having a lot of functional lands is kind of lame, since it incentivizes just throwing bullshit in and ignoring consistency because at minimum they're just going to be land cards as opposed to having them be inclusions you're mindfully putting in. I haven't played Lorcana though, so the actual scenarios might not be the same but I don't like the idea on paper.
>>59140781>finding and building a deck IRL can be a pain in the ass. Most LGS stores don't seem to have commonly used cards for sale, you're reliant on guys bringing bulk playable cards, which no one does unless it's upon request.Yeah, thats true. But at the same time it takes one day for you to go to a LGS or two, talk to people, see if there is any online group chat (discord or w/e). If there isnt, still you can ask people and they will bring it soon enough that its easier than buying online and waiting for shipping. The downside is that you need social skills to talk to people.
Rocket decks, adding a Shaymin in the current Live Meta is not a bad idea.It will reduce your Spidops damage and it will be a bit brickier, but there are way too many Mega Starmies for some reason.I just had 3 matches in a row against Mega Starmie Mega Froslass decks and I destroyed them with a Battle Cage (because of the annoying Munkis and Froslass) and Shaymin combo.I think those decks runs 2 or 3 ruisky ruins so I am seriously planning to have 2 Battle Cages and 2 Rocket Factories instad of my current 2 Rocket Factory and 1 Battle Cage.Shaymin needs to be recovered with Stretcher unlike the Tarantoula/Spidops which I recover them with Sacred Ash since I can find them quickly using Proton or Poffin.I don't know why Live players are using Mega Starmie deck.
>>59149931Mega Starmie is funAny good MStarmie decks out there? I like it with Froslass not Dusknoir
>>59149720>a LGS or two, talk to peopleIt's only helpful if you have lurkers who just sit around and play pokemon all day.New england area? Fucking forget it, the only lurkers in LGS stores are MTG players. The only time I'm seeing pokemon people are during actual events/tournies.And it is 100% easier to get people to bring you the shit you need, versus TCG player, but it's still lowkey a good amount of work. It took me like a week, visiting 4 LGS stores, and going to like 3 different events to fully build my alakazam deck. Granted, I did get a lot of other cool shit, and I'm going to hoard full art professors research since they are a dollar right now, they will go up in price when it gets reprinted like always. It's a shame I think most of the antagonists from pokemon look stupid outside of Geovanni and of course his full art is 30 dollars. Lustamine boss's orders when?
>>59149981I guess you have to build something similar to Marnie's Grimmsnarl, but with Risky Ruins instead of her stadium. You replace the Impidimp line with Staryu line and add 2 Mega Froslass.Poffins will fill your bench because the Snorunt and Staryu are only 70hp, but you need to find the Munkis with pads. You only need 1 water energy to attack so Wally will help. I don't know if Ignition energies are worth it or not for Starmie's 2nd attack, you can perfectly use Mega Froslass to do the big damage and Crusltes are not that popular (and you can deal with them with your Munki anyways).Finding the water energy to start attacking and a dark energy to move the damage counter around is going to be a challenge since you don't have that many drawers in that deck. You need to be careful with Boss Order due to the small chance that your opponent has a Shaymin.
>>59150051 (Me).Forgot to mention Salvatore, he allows you to attack in your first turn if you go second.Something like starting with Staryu/Snorunt and going second, using an Ultra Ball go search for Meowth so you can use Salvatore so you evolve, charge an energy and start attacking right away.
Grimmsnarl's still pretty good.
>>59150786Yeah. I thought it would suffer the most after rotation but it's in surprisingly good shape.
>>59149623Idk about better, but it's very different. It doesn't have the same sort of search -> build -> payoff flow.
cumming inside pult players…
