>>59234741>Which is what BW is doing. I very much get the impression that GF want you to think BW’s story is great and deep. Otherwise I do not see why the game put so much emphasis on its story.True. BW is pretentious in how it presents the story/characters. I agree 100% on this. What I wanted to argue against was the notion that Game Freak was pretending to seriously tackle the subject of pokémon slavery. Like you said, it was merely dismissed again. And I also wanted to clarify the meaning of pretentiousness to properly discuss the truly pretentious aspects of BW. I'm glad this worked, though I wish it happened sooner into the thread (guess now it has, LOL).>I think they shouldn’t have brought it up in the first place.>GF themselves decided to make this something one actually have to think about.Like I've said before, that is a (You) problem. I see no reason let the fact that Game Freak brought up a certain subject be something that lives rent free in your head.>>59234752>The game is raising the conflict. What I wanted was for the game to actually follow through, regardless of what the conclusion was.Again, I do not understand the obsession with this. I rather make my own conclusions. Though, from reading the rest of your post, I gather that what *you* want is validation, from seeing Game Freak officially recognizing *your* conclusions as their own. You claim you want to see theirs but I think you got upset with what was presented because you see it as a disagreement with your beliefs and take this as a personal offense. Also, I find it suspicious that the thread suddenly dropped so fast.>youre coping anon.>The game is text book pretentiousness.I'm not going to repeat myself, just read what I said about this in the other reply.
>>59234870Colress shitting on Gheshit was kino
will b/w remake make ghetsis into misunderstood old man like lysandre?
>>59234884>Like I've said before, that is a (You) problem. I see no reason let the fact that Game Freak brought up a certain subject be something that lives rent free in your head. It's really not. Having a character at the start of a Mario game go "Hey maybe you shouldn't stomp on them turtles and take pleasure in killing all these goons?" and then never bring it up again while the game lets you play Mario as usual, continuing to stomp turtles for enjoyment would just be embarrassingly poor writing.A lot of games require a certain suspension of disbelief. But when the writers themselves decide to bring some of the less thought-out concepts front and center, then it becomes increasingly harder to play along with the suspension. It's poorly thought out and poorly implemented, and impacts the whole story since quite a lot of time is spent on the subject without really going anywhere. Why me stating this equated "LOL BW LIVES RENT FREE" to you is beyond me, but it seems incredibly reductive.
>>59234884It's pretentious as fuck. Writing something about lines questioning the morality of Pokémon ownership without having made any reflections around it and then present it to the player is pretentious as fuck. Tell me why they did it if not to impress the player with their pseudo-intellectualism?
>>59234954>I'm not going to repeat myself>read what I said about this in the other replyREAD, NIGGA, READ.>>59234932>Why me stating this equated "LOL BW LIVES RENT FREE" to you is beyond me, but it seems incredibly reductive.Don't take it so personally. This is why I edited my other big post, I know people get offended too easily these days by arguments with an irreverent tone but it's so tiring to walk on eggshells all the time. Pointing out something in a funny way shouldn't be offensive if that something isn't shameful. I basically just said that you keep it in your mind too much or that you are overly concerned about it, take a step back and reconsider if it's worth getting angry over this.>but "rent free" is usually used for mockery!Yeah, usually. Read mood, look at the context. Think outside the box, for goodness sake! Sorry for the rant but this is a pet peeve of mine.Anyhow, I still don't see a reason to get upset about Game Freak bringing up the subject. This "it changes everything" attitude... I just can't go along with it. I am literally losing sleep trying to understand you, so I'll just end my comment here and hope your next reply makes things clearer for me.
>>59234925>GheshitNow I can't unsee it.
>>59234931No, it would not make sense at all. Lysandre was a well-intentioned extremist from the start while Ghetsis had purely evil motives all the way.
>>59230126It's interesting that it was implied Colress (re)discovered Mega Evolution and Sycamore just took the credit somehow. Given what we know now thanks to the leaks, I guess this is an artifact from when Sycamore was going to be the villian.
