The game is better with bench Pokemon. It allows teams to have more flexibility in preparing for different matchups, and adds more layers to teambuilding by having multiple teams/modes within the party of 6 (especially relevant currently with double mega). A big flaw in 6v6 is that you can't realistically prepare for the whole meta at once, and you often can't afford to use niche mons that counter certain things since you're forced to bring them in every match.

btw, if you're building a team of 6 like it's 6v6, then you're doing it wrong. You should be building a core of 3-4 and then using the other slots to fill the gaps and make the team more flexible. Just pointing this out while we're on the topic because it's a common trap 6v6 players trying to learn VGC/BSS fall into, and things make more sense after getting over that hurdle.

Are you retarded? Having a bench increases creativity, not decreases. When every Pokemon has to come to every battle, every Pokemon must be generally good, meaning you really have to pick from the top of the top. With a bench you can bring a niche Pokemon that only comes out in one in ten matchups to shore up a specific threat, allowing lesser used Pokemon with one strong thing they're good at to shine. Look at Heliolisk. Kind of a shitmon and not one you'd ever bring to a 6v6 game, but in a 4v4 you can keep it on the bench until your opponent has Basculegion and suddenly it's the star of the game. VGC would be a lot more boring if it was 6v6.

Keep in mind the first time you bring in a Pokemon from HOME into Champions the game essentially creates a copy of that Pokemon in Champions separate from the original version still in HOME. For example:
1. You bring in Alakazam with Psychic from HOME with no EV training
2. In Champions, you teach it Psyshock
3. You return it to HOME and it's still the original Alakazam that only knows Psychic
4. You decide to EV train it in its original game then bring it back into Champions
5. The Champions version is still the same version with Psychic and Psyshock without the EV training

You need to spend ingame currency to make stat and move changes to Pokemon, so if you want to save up then bring in a Pokemon as optimal as possible. Ingame currency itself isn't a problem since they throw a lot at you, but if you don't spend then there's very limited box space which is why you might want to use HOME so you can swap Pokemon in and out

It's pretty bizarre seeing Z-A Greninja as some kind of premium currency. Delphox and Chesnaught are too but I had an easier time getting them. Greninja fags are fucking vicious. I've had multiple Pokémon I was offering stolen with a wrong game Greninja and then they put the Pokémon they just stole up asking for another Greninja. And when looking at Greninja listings they ask for shit like blood moon Ursaluna which is way more valuable or Floette. I can understand using Greninja to ask for specific Let's Go Pokémon but the rest no one is ever going to bite. All the starters are stupid easy to obtain in Z-A the problem is owning the game and DLC.

Many things were learnt.
So hosting by itself isnt an issue, but gathering the members might be in the future might be an issue. I think in the future something along the lines of the weekly draft couyld be good if the members allocate time itself as compared to getting everyone in the same timezones.

Furfrou won me some games for sure. Thunder Wave and Charm outspeeding/tying Jolly/Timid Garchomp and Floette is clutch... Chomp's rock slide couldn't take out even Talonflame in 2 turns due to the Charms.

By the way does anyone else find the move timer is fucked up sometimes? I was thinking of my move, about to click Trick Room on Gardevoir seeing they had Froslass in and it was my last turn of Tailwind. Suddenly, a move is selected for me and it protects, which obviously Whimsicott encores. I had that match 100%. So fucked up because I could have SWORN I didn't see the warning numbers come up on my screen to let me know I only had seconds to click a move.
