Resident Evil 1 remake and The Twin Snakes really shouldn't be called "remakes". All of the negative ideas associated with that term (that are actually bad) are not present in them. They are alternate artistic treatments of the same premises and technical showcases. Not attempts to pave over history with something more accessible to retarded cretins. The Twin Snakes has cutscenes directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, with input from Hideo Kojima (who told him to make them more his own rather than try to recreate the original game).Technology was not frozen at this time. You could do radically different things after a few years passed. There was great novel value in making the same scene with new tech. They were not breaking existing works into the monogame frame. Anybody who hates these particular remakes I have to take for a hysteric who can't appraise the issue clearly.

>>12253149kojambo outsourced a remake of mgs to some canucks, they basically shoved mgs1 levels into mgs2, downgraded the graphics and controls because cube couldn't run it, cutscenes were directed by some watchowski wannabe jap and it only has a shitty english redub even in japan. all of this to put snake in fucking smash bros.

Or even deal with a real Super Famicom anymore? And why do all the people who always claimed to hate emulation and only play on real hardware suddenly find the anal-og pocket -A, INACCURATE, HARDWARE *EMULATION* DEVICE- JUST PERFECT?
>>12255374correct.you should be using a raspi 3 or 4 with composite out.
>>12255398> You can also synchronize the video instead of the audio.Nobody does that, like ever. Plus its a lot worse than a crackle. The emulator core produces x amount of samples per frame. If your sound card is asking for samples and you come up short, you are fucked, and if you have too many samples, then this leads to a different problem, the sound card gets behind.

AFAIK having high refresh rate doesn't mean equivalent display lag but higher refresh rates tend to correlate with lower lag displays. Requesting flatscreens expert right now ITT.
Good morning timmies, future CEO here. I was just having my daily conversation with ChatGPT, the smartest being in the world and after hours of research we came to a fascinating conclusion. Apparently, the real name for Sega's 8 bit console was the Sega System, and Master System was just the name of a bundle pack with the light phaser. I've attached a professional artist's rendition of how the Sega System might have looked like without the infamous manufacturing defect printing error on top of the power base. I plan on presenting this evidence at a conference as part of my masters thesis at University of Hyderabad. Jai hind!

Why did Koei games have to be censored for the Western release?
The other villains in the PS2 era, Drek, Quark, and Vox all felt like exaggerations of villains that existed in the real world, which worked because they were reinforced by the themes of consumerism present in the entire series. Having a comic book supervillain with a vaguely racial motivation just falls flat.

honestly it’s surprising no one has tried scooping up the rights to make a modern sequel/reboot, failed kickstarter asideif Atari can shit out a “no this one is actually good guys, you’ll see” Bubsy game every few years, certainly you can do the same with the Booger
>>12255383 Thing is, it works with Boobsy because half of the people buying it are doing it for the memes and the other half wants to fuck him, Booger doesn't have that draw.
>>12255402I think it’d do better now than it would in the 90s, provided the game itself looks and plays well. Sell it as a throwback to the gross out style of the era and zoomies will eat it up whilst posting bowser fart.gif and incredible gassy. Pizza Tower walked so Boogerman can have the runs.

I did it buster only on a keyboard in MM1 and on a real PSP in Powered Up, both Modern and Classic. Does it count?
Between Sega Saturn and PlayStation, which is better? Also retro DBZ thread.
>>12255192Yeah, if only Budokai 2 decided to stay exactly the same and just add the Buu saga. I get that's not enough content for an entire standalone game but they should've found a way to make it work instead of doing the shitty board game thing. Literally all I want from a DBZ game is the gameplay of Budokai and in engine cutscenes that recreate moments from the anime and literally only Budokai 1 does right. I don't want lazy text only cutscenes with talking PNGs, I don't want whatever the fuck the new games are doing with the gameplay, they're all shit.
>>12255173I'm not a big fan of 6th gen DBZ games. They aren't terribly bad but I prefer the 16bit fighters by far
Playstation is better.Saturn has very weird angles and sprites during Meteo Attacks and that fucking horrible dithering everywhere.About the game lacking trees/buildings, that's not entirely true. What happens is that in the PSX version, those are hidden very, very far away from the starting point of most arenas, so you're never going to see them. While in the Saturn version, they're right there and even appear during attacks. To see the buildings in the PSX version, start a fight and backdash for 15~30 seconds, and you'll start to see it. A very stupid decision by whoever made the game.Lastly, there are actually a few different attacks between versions. Basing it on the PSX version:- Trunks uses a sword slash in the Saturn- Vegetto's attack is different- Dabura uses his sword in the Saturn- Piccolo uses Hellzone Grenade instead of Gekiretsukoudan in the Saturn
Just look at the Meteo Attacks for both versions:PS1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snlsQPBsLuYSS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4nKF3O18ksThe attacks on the Sega Saturn are rather simple and lack weight. Also, most enemies will not fall to the ground when hit, staying suspended in mid-air. Because the Saturn couldn't do proper transparencies, some attacks and explosions look pretty weird. One advantage of the Saturn version is that the gameplay is faster.
>>12255264Infinite World did that to a certain extend but yeah, it was lacking compared to Budokai 1. Budokai 3 had the best script though, very faithful to the japanese manga.
Anybody here remember Gorky 17 (Odium in North America)? It was a Polish made, horror, tactical game from 1999. It follows a group of NATO operatives, infiltrating a Polish town overrun with monsters and mutants. It switches from point and click exploration and item management to turn based combat when encountering enemies. People describe it as a marriage between Resident Evil (during exploration, puzzles and inventory management) and XCOM (during combat encounters). It has a leveling and RPG system. It looks like a PS1 game, using 3D characters and objects, superimposed over detailed 2D enviroments and backgrounds (a la early RE games). The music, enviroments, characters and monster designes vary from solid to excellent.
>>12255069Yes, it's quite good. Too bad there's no proper sequel.
>>12255069I saw it in a computer magazine back then. It looked like shit.
Was pretty popular in Russia, even recieved two dubs: first changed NATO operatives into ex-USSR team and generally changed story around it, second dub was more loyal to original, but was called Gorky 18 to fool poor goyms into thinking it was sequel.
quirky gorky
