This seems as good a place as any to ask.

I have a PS2 slim that doesn't boot. No idea what's wrong with it and I don't care to fix it either. Are there any people or companies in Australia you can suggest that might be willing to take it off my hands? Seems like a waste to throw it out.

I didn't save any links to the threads themselves, though.

No problem (it's a fun (and easy) way of contributing to the best /vr/ thread), and thank you for further backing them up! These threads, with their links, should also be automatically preserved by various /vr/ archive sites. I'm a big fan of having as many back-ups as possible, however, so thank you again for doing this anon. I keep and am interested in most of games I post here, but not all, so everyone else's participation with this is definitely valuable.

Sorry for the trouble and confusion. I couldn't post them normally because I already posted too many links and so I was getting a "Our system thinks your post is spam. Please reformat and try again." message that wouldn't let me post them normally.

Since I saw a couple of references to assembly languages in this thread, I thought I would recommend this book:
https://archive.org/details/6502_Assembly_Language_Programming
I eventually settled on 68k Genesis development but I credit this book with helping the core concepts of assembly language programming to finally click with me. Also I think in my experience, I avoided a certain amount of frustration by spending a little while getting acquainted with and understanding how to program a cpu before I even got started on a development tutorial. Good luck.

> learning 6502
https://skilldrick.github.io/easy6502/
Truly love this little demo, it kickstarted me into my journey. 6502 is a great jumping off point into learning ASM, it's simple enough to grasp the entire set without having to worry about the more advanced features of later processors. minus some very strange quirks of 6502 but you don't have to worry much about those imo
https://www.masswerk.at/6502/6502_instruction_set.html
handy instruction set page, has bailed me out more times than i can count.
> I eventually settled on 68k Genesis development but I credit this book with helping the core concepts of assembly language programming to finally click with me.
I've had a similar experience learning 6502 first and branching elsewhere, pun intended. Once you can read one instruction set / assembler syntax, it opens up a world where you can vaguely read them all and sort of hop into whatever architecture you like. Love my new super powers.

Does this insert SJW/literal transsexual political garbage into it (like the original Celeste series does) or is it free from that and just has similar gameplay to that series? I'm interested, but I just don't want to support actual fag, insecure demagogue shit.

This is very cool! Thank you! So far, I got "Luigi's Mansion 64", "I Wanna Be the FF" and "Ys 0 NES (ips file)". If I figure out what games these are supposed to be patched with, I will share 'em with yoy here.

These look promising (the Link's Awakening one is impressive, but shouldn't try to look as much like ALttP as possible, in my opinion). I recently heard SMSPower was trying to work on getting MSX2 ports to work on Master System, speaking of which.

Just finished it last night, and it's free from any of that shit, or even any story, really, it's just pure high-quality gameplay. I haven't played Celeste, so I don't know how similar the gameplay feels, but I loved it.

I've got a .cdi of a Dreamcast homebrew game which isn't shared (at least, as far as I know) but I want to convert it to .gdi before I share it - does anyone know how to do that or at least can anyone here pledge they'd upload that .gdi conversion if I did share the .cdi?
>>
>>10861021
>Would you like to learn
interested in doing game translations, no preferences for platforms, just want to get some experience in doing it first. Not sure where to start? I assume old console games are harder than PC games to reverse engineer and inject into

>>
>>10885105
>Thank you for sharing.
No sharing was done, my little circle jerker. He couldn't even share the name of this super secret L@@K R@RE game. lmfao. Converting from cdi to gdi is generally very easy, and if he had shared he'd have his GDI. But he chose to be a faggot, so doesn't.
>>
>>10884684
Learning how to write basic assembly for the target platform is a good place to start, at least for older systems (in my opinion). You could spend hours messing with script injection tools (cartographer, atlas, etc.) or poking around in a debugger, but it will be hard to process what's happening without being able to read the code.

But no matter your approach, it's probably best to find a game you're interested in and stick with that. Translating a game can be pretty brutal, so you're gonna need all the help you can get to stay motivated.
>>
>>10884684
>Not sure where to start?
Become fluent in the languages you want to translate to/from. Come back in 9001 years when you have achieved this to receive the next step.
>>
>>10884241
A Dreamcast homebrew game being .cdi is normal, because those all come on CDs, there isn't a reason to convert to another format because it's unnecessary, anything that can play Dreamcast games can use the .cdi format with very few exceptions
>>
>>10884241
Why can't you just share the cdi?
>>
>>10884684
>Not sure where to start
Looking for the premade tools to extract scripts from the game of your choice and insert them back. The game of your choice really, really matters because if you don't care about it, you will never ever finish it 100% (vs 95% if you do care).
A good candidate would be a game with existing fan translation to a different language and a way to contact its fanTL team for assistance.

I've been making the sack (the compendium for those who have played some Persona).
You buy monsters from a giant cunt in exchange for pubic hair.
I think it's the last menu I still had to make.

This pretty much describes my life.

That aside, those are some slick menus. Nice cunt, too.

You fucked up and corrupted the ROM. Start over. Did you use a mapper or an emulator with a debugger to see if you found the correct spot in the ROM, not the ram??
>>

I'm using FCEUX.
And no I'm not using the same rom, I have a clean backup then copy and paste it just in case it doesn't work.

Did you give it a chance to load the new colors? Load a new screen or collect a power up?
Is there multiple places in the rom with the palette?
>>
>>10895854
There are 3 codes that are Kirby's palette's in hex editor, I edited them all. I reloaded the rom to work.
