Let's discuss this excellent arcade game.Soulful 1cc run w/ commentary for those unfamiliar with the game: https://youtu.be/Aq8xfDVCz3Q
nobody cared about it before the anime
>>10861412IDGAFFFF about anime, loser.I have not seriously played Druaga, however. But I would like to, it's on the to do list.
Would have been really cool to participate in the local community playing this game in arcades and learning the secrets back in the day. Of course, now that kind of community-building happens online and everybody participates in it. But most people just let others do the work for them and follow walkthroughs.
Did tower of Druaga invent bump combat?
>>10861438It's not bump combat, more like draw your sword and run and stab combat.
>>10861427>I care deeply about this game which I never played and totally haven't been influenced by the animeuh huhe-celebs then I suppose, even worse
>>10861450quit projecting, faggot
I tried to get into this game (both the Arcade and the Famicom versions) and it's so fucking hard it's unreal. Then there are also harder versions of it called 'Another Tower' or something like that in case you somehow managed to beat this goddamn game. I WANT to like it because I'm interested in history of Japanese action-adventure games and ARPGs and also ancient Mesopotamian mythology but it keeps filtering me. This game, much like every other Namco arcade title with an ending, is fucking impossible for an average human being like me
>>10861459The PCE version is neat. Its default mode is a little easier and it gives you hints between stages
>>10861459What specifically are you having trouble with? This game is very doable as long as you're willing to use the continue feature (and an item guide).
>>10861470> to use the continue featureI always start from the beginning when losing in these games. I mean if there's no continue screen after getting a game over. I guess that's my problem>>10861469Seen it, maybe I'll give it a try too later
>>10861450Are you mad about something?Don't @ me again, homo.
>>10861458What other explanation is there? Do you frequently read the wikipedia article for games and decide "wow, what an excellent game. Let me discuss this with people who have actually played it"Really curious
>>10861492neighbor I literally played the game an hour ago
I like the gameboy version
>>10861492>included on Namco Museum vol. 3 in 1997>picrel spinoff for PS2 from 20 years ago>multiple console ports>dumped and emulated decades ago>1up.com feature from 20 years ago https://web.archive.org/web/20090304054301/http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3135870&did=1>featured in various retro game-related booksyeah nobody could possibly have heard about this game except from some anime or some eceleb. quit assuming people are as uncurious as you are
Wizzrobes and Gels from Zelda 1 came from this game
>>10861575>Magic wizards that shoot energy waves and blobs were unique before this
>>10861591Wizzrobes truly do behave very similarly to the magicians from Druaga
>>10861556how does the gb version deal with the floors where you have to kill enemies in a certain order? (imagining it might be difficult to differentiate in monochrome)
I knew druaga because I like dungeon crawling
>>10861610Idk, I suck at the game, but I liked it conceptually
>>10861407>excellent
this game isnt possible to beat totally blind, right?
>>10862134It's possible of course but remember it's meant to be a 10000+ hour game where you try out different stuff each attempt to slowly figure out the conditions for each item to spawn. If you used a walkthrough then you literally didn't play the game.
>>10862430If you didn't trade secrets and tips on a Japanese playground in the 80s did you even play the same game?
>>10862134An infinite amount of monkeys hitting random buttons on an arcade machine for an infinite amount of time will eventually beat the game.
>>10861560What does "fushigino" mean?
Probably one of the most influencial games of the 80s.
>>10862450Mystery'sFushigi = Mysteryno = 's
>>10862450"Dungeon of Mystery" or simply "Mystery Dungeon".
>>10861492It's funny when children like you get upset at people knowing things.
>>10861412The anime is garbage. I was very disappointed when watching it and quickly dropped it.
I really love Druaga. I was always pretty attached to it ever since I played it in NAmco Museum vol.3 when I was 4. Sometimes life feels like a fantasy when I find stuff in the museum now on buyee. In general I love old Namco, and have collected a lot of stuff. (this pic is a bit outdated, I got my hands on more Druaga wonderfest stuff as well as the Pac-Land board game now)If anyone ever wanted to play the Druaga board game, I translated it and put it on Tabletop Simulator. It can feel as brutal as the real game sometimes and overall I think its a good adaptation of the game considering when it was made.
>>10862664Awesome figures. It's kind of a shame Ki's sprite is so underwhelming in TOD
>>10861407>namco>>10861470>mazeso it's just pacman?
>>10864802no
>>10864802> yellow guyhold on you may be onto something
>>10864802>>10865335Wait a minue... different colored ghost enemies too, and even collectables that spawn at your starting position. Hmmm....
