It's pretty dumb for them to expect you to walk over every tile to find the items.
>>
theres a lot of dumb things they expect you to do in this game. my favorite is making the penultimate boss invincible because you didnt do some retarded collectathon. this game's apologists dont even realize you have to do it because they never actually played it blind

Another reason a lot of people wouldn't have realized that is that they liked the game so they didn't care to skip any big chunks of it. If you try to do all the normal things that can be done in the game and that the game obviously wants you to try to do, then you'll have everything you need when you reach that boss.

I think this was the case for me. I don't remember cheating in this game with Nintendo Power or whatever, and I also have no memory of running into or even being aware of that particular feature of that boss. I just liked doing all the stuff so I did all the stuff.

it was expected that you get a spell before every dungeon so it's not unreasonable to know that you needed every spell before the final dungeon. Making you go through the whole thing before realizing you were missing one is a bit extreme though.

thats the real problem. you have to go through such a slog to even get to that boss. after dying and not knowing what the problem was (and because i was just utterly done with the game at this point) i just looked it up, cringed, and stopped playing

My issue lies mostly with the dialogue. Random bumfucks know exactly what I need, where to get it, and where to go. I'm pretty sure nobody even knows I'm on a quest in this part of Hyrule, they have no clue who I am, so how do they know what the fuck I'm searching for?
I get that it's advice for the actual player, but in universe it makes no sense.
Especially in the context of items like the Candle where it really implies there is only one Candle in Hyrule because he tells you where to find it and it's not available in a shop anywhere.

The only solid piece of advice (in English, Idk about the original text) is pic related.
It sounds cool and like something somebody would actually say and believe to be true.

I feel that way about Wizardry and all its clones.

It's not unreasonable for everybody to know about a traveler whose trying to save the princess and will be coming to your town eventually and may need help with supplies.

Another idiot filtered by Zelda 2. Just stick to your childhood's DS games.

I'm not gonna completely defend the translation and puzzles in this game. But I feel like... That's really kinda part of the charm. It's not like anybody in this day can actually get stuck in this game, the internet is extremely mainstream. If you put in a miniscule amount of effort, you can understand this game forever.

They pulled that shit in LttP to.
It really killed the pacing after beating Aganim and being whisked away immediately to the Ganon fight, only to be forced to eat an inevitable L and be treated to a sign telling you that you'll need special arrows.
A better designer would have made such a crucial item a mandatory pick-up in a dungeon.

I had no knowledge about this game and played it a couple years ago. I got stuck trying to find that hidden village. I thought I just had to walk across all the forest tiles until I found it. Gave up, used a guide, turned out I needed to remember (?) that the hammer apparently also has the capacity to destroy forests and reveal villages hidden beneath them.

Fixed. Don't be a Yuropoor, OP.

tbf that one is right outside the final boss and unlike in zelda 2 you don't have to grab four magic containers (or for equivalence, the four bottles) for the fairy to grant you it.
>>
>>10875561
that's fine but they should have some consistency. Right outside hammer cave is a rock you break to reveal an actual hole you fall into with a marking. They then have holes but no marking in the maze, just walk over them. I get making actual markings would've been too easy, but they could've just put the items elsewhere then like the other puzzles.
>>

What the fuck that perspective is supposed to be?

>only to be forced to eat an inevitable L and be treated to a sign telling you that you'll need special arrows.
After part of the floor falls away, you can fall down it to escape out. Or you can charge up the sword and use good timing to deal damage without the arrows.

That's one of the very few things in Zelda 2 that actually is kind of bullshit. Every prior hidden area is found by just walking onto the tile. The manual does mention that the hammer can knock down trees, but there's no real reason to suspect that this is the one time that will turn out to reveal a town.

I did still find it without any help as a kid, because for some reason I was entertained by clear-cutting forests.

>>10874496
Then don't do it. Why are you so afraid of not getting gamer cred? Fucking norman faggot
>>
The only things I didn't like about this game was the length of the final dungeon and also the final boss (Dark Link) being incredibly gay and requiring you to find some kind of way to trick the computer so you could get hits while not being hit after doing a really long dungeon.

you can't beat the game otherwise, dumbfuck
