Is Green Hill Zone the most memorable opening level in vidya history?
>>10882974Yeah, as soon as you see it you turn off the console and regret spending money on a shit game.
mario 64's first level probably
I don't think so but the music is fucking awesome. For Sonic alone I think city escape is probably the most memorable since he jumps out of a plane among several other over the top antics to evade militarized police
objectively it would be SMB because muh face of video games and often referenced in media, but for me personally it's KAGEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uqQofm3zTU
i'd give it to castlevania with how many times they reference it.
>>10882974I prefer emerald hill zone
>>10882974No.
>>10883331Came here to say this
>>10883331nah, SMB levels are too samey.
>>10883365Maybe, but that single frame is more referenced and recognizable that green hill zone, at least in some cases.
>>10883382The game itself is memorable. Individual levels are not.
>>10883331This layout is instantly recognizable to most gamers, and if the level continues to resemble 1-1 then a smaller portion of those gamers will try to hit the hidden 1-Up block after the pipes.I will give props to E1M1 of Doom. Combined with the famous music it is the very first experience of most people playing Doom, and it makes them want to run around and kill demons rather than skulk about in fear of running into them. Most PC gamers can distinctly recall this moment being pivotal in their enjoyment of gaming.
>>10882974Green huh?
>>10883331Sonic will forever live in Mario's shadow, it's kind of sad in a way
>>10884139They don't release nearly as often as Sonic games, but mainline Rayman games have been consistently solid.
>>10882979This and the Dam level form Goldeneye are definitely up there.
>>10884123>play the only good sonic gamesAwesome
