What are your favorite uses of CD audio or licensed music in retro gaming?>YOU CAN LOOK BUT YOU CAN'T TOUCH>I DON'T THINK I LIKE YOU MUCHalso Gran Turismo 2, Jet Set Radio, and Twisted Metal 4 both had Dragula by Rob Zombie.

>>10884083If you're counting gen 6 consoles, my favorites are THPS4, THUG2, and MVP Baseball 2004
>>10884083SEGA CD and TurboGrafx-CD had fantastic music in general. SEGA CD Road Rash lets you listen to the licensed tracks while racing. And, if you like the Beach Boys, you should give Camp California on TurboGrafx-CD a shot.
>>10884567Don't forget Lords of Thunder. I think I prefer the Sega version for the music but the Turbo version isn't half-bad either.
>>10884089It's not zoomers
>>10884152this. cant believe SCEA and SCEE literally just ripped the soul right out of the first 2 GT's and replaced it with generic licensed dreck, and then continued to assrape the soundtracks of the games for decades by removing the main theme repeatedly and picking and choosing random composed BGM to cut out. really wish racing games would go back to having composed soundtracks, that and EA was no doubt likely part of the fact that racing games are "required" to have a licensed rock soundtrack these days or retards start bitching and whining.
>>10885753I liked GT1's European OST, at least in races.
>>10885575>no fucking idea what this cunt even is but he is chuffin back a fat dart and thats all that matters
I always mute music in racing games. Even the menu music.
>>10884089What does the "R" stand for?
>>10884152>>10885753Wasn't SCEA and SCEE who decided to do the replacement soundtracks. It was actually Kazunori Yamauchi of Polyphony. The Japanese version came with an original OST because the game was on a super tight budget due to car licenses costing a lot of money. SCEE suggested they could do a licensed soundtrack to help it in the West. He was a huge fan of British bands and selected the tracks while SCEE got an exclusive remix from The Chemical Brothers for the intro. GT2 having an original OST in Japan was more a case of it being difficult to get music licensing to work before the internet and it being really difficult in Japan as well. It wasn't till GT3 till the soundtracks started becoming uniform in all regions. But that was always the authorial intent of the series creators to have a licensed soundtrack
