DS version is too far up its own ass, constantly shoving 'REMEMBER VIDYA?' in your face
I don't need to see NES sprites of totally unrelated games when I play Tetris

GameBoy version, because it has this theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpzQmF_2qwo

just say you can't t-spin

Tetris effect in VR is the objective answer but you assholes are probably too stuck in your ways to even try it not to mention apreciate it.

Absolutely not
>>
>>10944071
Not retro.
>>
>>10944035
what's the point of doing this?
>>
>>10944205
It helps when you eventually get some fucked up block placement and you can use a T-spin to unfuck it.
>>
>>10943564
>muh t-spins
>muh constantly shaking screen elements
Looks like absolute shit made for ADHD zoomers.
>>
>>10944350
the shaking and aesthetics are absolute garbage, i give you that. but t-spins are like, basic tech that's not even high-level competitive shit, it's just a simple ass way to get yourself out of trouble.
>>
So zoomer shit = too complex for me

t-spin is tryhard? It's a core tetris mechanic. you're just a fucking retard if you can't grasp it. the motion can be disabled as apotris is insanely customizable
>>
>>10946651
It's only a core mechanic in competitive Tetris, which is what makes it tryhard, especially multiple t-spin setups as showcased in that webm. T-spins are an occasional way to fix a fucked up board, the actual goal of Tetris is to get tetrises, not to set up t-spins. Trying to turn Tetris into some competitive esport for assfaggots players is dumb zoomer shit.
>>
>>10946670
t-spin allows you to get tetrises retard. it's not competititve, the official tetris site even teaches you how, maybe you should read up on it scrub

https://tetris.com/article/70/how-to-perform-a-t-spin-in-tetris
>>
>>10946678
It’s obviously an exploit that became so commonly used that now it’s just accepted as a normal part of the game.
>>
>>10946678
>it's not competititve
T-spins are rewarded in versus Tetris games. They have more combo potential, award more points, and send more chaotic junk lines to your opponent. Competitive Tetris is the reason t-spins became so important and why zoomer tryhards focus on them so much.
>>
>>10943037
Tetris plus because it has a cute girl in it
>>
>>10946678
nta I did
>Both the T-Spin method and Tetris Line Clear method are great ways to approach Tetris.
>Of course, how you choose to play is entirely up to you.
>The main goal is to clear lines, and there’s no right or wrong way to do so.
>The main goal is to clear lines

Right, Tetris. I decided to actually look into Apotris on their website to see what it actually is.

Game modes:
>Marathon: Try to get the best score as the game gets faster and faster
>Sprint: Clear lines to reach the goal as fast as possible
>Dig: Dig through lines of garbage
>Ultra: Get the best score in a limited time
>Blitz: Get the best score in a limited time while the game gets faster and faster
>Combo: Aim for the most consecutive clears in a 4-wide well
>Survival: Survive as long as possible while garbage rises from below

>Classic: Old school stacking mechanics

>Master: Get the highest Grade while the gagme gets aggressively faster
>Death: Try to survive at brutal speeds
>Zen: The goal is to relax...
>2P Battle: Battle your friends through the Link Cable or Wireless Adapter (GBA Only!)
>CPU Battle: Go against an AI opponent
>Training: Try out new strategies or improve your playing using the included Finesse Trainer

Did you not think to suggest it has other possibly appealing game modes? You made it seem like a game solely about performing T-spins to clear lines.

Lol wat

I said apotris was the best version of tetris. Learn how to read. That other anon started sperging out about it being a zoomer game because his dinosaur brain can’t comprehend a core tetris mechanic. I never said it relies entirely on t-spin.
>>
>>10946691
Original t-spins can only be done once. Stringing together a series of t-spins to sent the T piece further down is an intentional mechanic added to Versus Tetris and is NOT RETRO.
>>
>>10943635
>>10944350
You can customize it to your liking.

>>
>no one in this thread has given the correct answer
heh plebs

i know what the answer is, but i won't give it to you because i don't want you to know about it
>>
>>10948627
It's obviously this one: https://firstpersontetris.com/
>>
>>10944371
The point of Tetris is to get high-value tetrises (4-rows cleared at once). You balance risk and reward because sometimes it takes awhile to get an I-block. And you ideally make these decisions as fast as possible by starting at the fastest speed available.
>>10946678
Doesn't mean it's a core mechanic. Also >>10946695 and >>10946782

>Still defending SRS in 2024
It was literally developed to be easier for casuals using the dial pad on tiny 2000s mobile phones and to have smooth rotations in Tetris Worlds.

T-spin triples are an unintended side effect they pretend was intentional. And for extra retardation, they decided to ignore every other type of spin just because. Saying "b-b-b-but its a core mechanic" is retarded. Somehow they made dozens of incredibly popular Tetris games without SRS fuckery.

Another genius aspect of SRS is that despite most of the pieces having rotational symmetry, rotating these pieces clockwise and then anti-clockwise will produce different behaviour to rotating it clockwise twice. Which has different behaviour to rotating it anti-clockwise twice.

This complexity doesn't introduce any depth for experienced players and only serves to confuse newer players.

The best part is that the whole reason SRS was developed is irrelevant. They don't bother with the smooth rotations and casual Tetris on mobile phones is even more dumbed down.

Not that person, but what's a good score for OG normie style play - none of that rolling or slap tapping etc... Just hold direction and maybe not fast presses.
I'll never get to that stage ever, not gonna try and my fingers won't handle stressful tech these days - but having a reasonable expectation of a possibly achievable goal wouldn't be bad.
>>
>>10943632
that's what i'm saying. that's when my addiction for tetris happened. still have my r4
>>
>>10953283
A decent score is anything beyond 999,999 which can be achieved as early as level 25.
When Jonas Neubauer did his first stream in 2017, he achieved a score of 1.2 million by the time he reached the kill screen.
Hypertapping and rolling will allow you to continue to play level 29 and onwards, and theoretically up to level 255 (which is difficult due to level 235 having 810 lines to clear) before the game resets to level 0.
>>
>>10943037
GB Tetris is good
DS Tetris is also good for different reasons as it uses a different ruleset
Otherwise emulate The Grand Master or for wackiness, Magical Tetris Challenge
Or try getting into NES Tetris for the current competitive scene.

I am also a fan of Tetris Effect, but for specific reasons
