Because it needs some more love.My favorite game is Frostbite, look at my highscore.
Sorry brother, but it's sega boy summer. I'm only playing sega consoles this summer.
>>11048439nice work, I should give that one a try. I just beat my personal record in Centipede earlier today. The new CX-78+ pad I ordered in January came in too. Not earth-shattering, but still way better than the stick.
>>11048457Sega developed and published some of their own games on the 2600. Other devs did Sega ports as well. Buck Rogers is great, TAC/SCAN is ambitious, Thunderground is worth checking out. Also Carnival kicks ass, really great port by Coleco.
>>11048439I got to play moon patrol for the first time. Damn I already hate those peebles right after jumps.
>>11049278moon patrol filters me hard after awhile. Great game tho for sure. >>11048543I need to put some time into buck rogers. It looks great.
>>11048439Frostbite was probably my most played game on Activision Classics for the PSX. I also loved Dolphin, Pitfall, Jungle Hunt, Berserk, H.E.R.O., and Keystone Kapers. I think I'm forgetting some others, but those were some of my favorite games on the system, despite me not really getting into Atari 2600 until recently (born 1990)
>>11050610The 2600 version plays a lot better than most of the ports on higher end machines. The only version that tops it is the SG-1000 version (Zoom 909), which kicks major ass.
>>11048457It's always Atari summer, anon.
>>11052106kek
>>11048439As a zoomer, I never cared for Atari... but I've been exploring the 2600's library a bit and I'll admit that it's a lot better than I thought, the stuff like Adventure and Berzerk still hold up quite well, I want to try a lot more stuff aswell.Atari ROCKS.
>>11052765Try some of the super late stuff too; Radar Lock, Off The Wall, fucking KLAX, Fatal Run.
atari made some very comfy systemsim still working on getting my xegs flashcarti thought about getting a harmony cart for the 2600but i have about 60 carts and basically all of my favorites from when i was a kidi played atari titles first on windows pc on an activision compilation disc, along with commander keenthanks auntie for letting me play on your computer recs:fathomfroggerfreeway (2p only)demon attackcrackpothero \ pitfallbarnstorming kaboom river raid>>11048529the ports of centipede\millipede are pretty funnow that i have a cabinet with the originals i haven't really gone back and revisited thoughhaving the trackball controllers and those carts in that era prob was the tits thoughi still have my 5200 trackball and colecovision trackball i use them sparingly so i they dont break though 6-10 years ago i was scooping carts for pennies on the dollarthings changed
>>11052765What does Atari Berzerk have over the arcade version?
>>11052891amen, anon. I actually like how Centipede on the 2600 plays over the arcade, but that's because I never played it in the arcade so the analog control is bizarre to me. I got a modern ColecoVision clone recently that lets you use a regular USB mouse as a steering wheel or trackball. Sega's TURBO was wildly ahead of its time.
>>11053009I don't know, nothing I guess, but I don't think it takes away from the experience too, good video games are still good video games even if they're inferior ports. I guess a lot of Atari 2600 titles in most people's memories fall under that issue, it makes sense to question why anyone would be playing it over the arcade original, sometimes we just want something simpler or more nostalgic.I mean, the Master System's library is like 90% inferior ports to arcade and/or Genesis titles I guess, and it's still a superb console with many superb titles to have fun with, I still love them.>>11052827Will do! I appreciate the recommendations, anon!
>>11053069You got it hombre.
I've skeletonized a light sixer so I could jam a Flashback 2 inside. Thing is, I've left it on the bench for over a year now and all I need is some thin shielded wire and fresh flux to complete it. I'm not going to ask for help or motivation, but I wanted to admit I have neglected my project for too long and I seek to rectify that. I'm sorry.
>>11053023modern coleco clonesauce pls
>>11055382https://thebrewingacademy.com/collections/colecovision-coleco-adam-hardware-consoles/products/the-cv-nuc-a-colecovision-clone-that-fits-in-the-palm-of-your-handIt's badass. I've been playing a lot of SG-1000 and MSX ports on it, and Mr. Do of course
>>11055631soulfuldoes it support other controllers or only coleco? i have a ycable so u think genesis pads will still work like they do on original hardware?
>>110557783 button Gen pads are supposed to work, 6 button pads definitely do not. Anything Atari compatible will work, but you'll lose button 2 (and obviously the keypad); depending on what you're playing it may or may not matter. I got the keypad model of the clone and a CV compatible NES-style controller from ebay, really great combo.

>>11055997>240p test suite
>>11052891I hated Zaxxon so much, I was to stupid to get the angle right to fly in between the electric beam and the barrier. Yar's Revenge is one of my favorites.
>>11055997It's the drop shadow test in the 240p test suite, sorry friend
>>11048439Here's a 2600 rec that I don't ever see people bring up: Pressure Cooker. This game can get brutal real quick with all the stuff you've got to keep track of while also handling the action. One of my favorites from 2600 era Activision, and that's saying quite a bit.
>>11057424I like this one. It's just satisfying to assemble the burgers and send them on their wayI got the patch on the GBA version; patch score requirement isn't very high though
>>11048439Even though this was my first experience with video games (Gen Xer) I have very little nostalgia for the 2600. I had fun with both Pitfall games, Kaboom, River Raid, Yars Revenge, Phoenix, Space Invaders, Haunted House and many others. However, my friends and I would play games for maybe 45 minutes tops before we did some other activity. The games just weren't very good and were not even close to early arcade cabinets we would play at the corner store or if we were lucky enough to go to the mall arcade. The NES and 16 bits are another story. Games made a huge jump and we would play for hours at a time on the weekends.
>>11057424activision made the best shit>picrel
>>11057424Pressure Cooker has been reimagined in so many different games, I'm surprised more people don't mention it either. I remember a variation in Bomberman Land Touch.
I remember having some bootleg 2600 games. The base was the same size as the cartridge port but the overall cartridge shell was slimmer with an angled top for the end label in blue text. The games weren't good but no one ever mentions that anymore. Is there a list of these bootleg games?
