What's the best way to play them? Do they still hold up today?
>>
>>11052191
og ps2
ps3 remaster fucks up physics and graphical effects
ps4 remake shits up the art style

just play the original on ps2 you fool
>>
get a ps2 or emulate the ps2
>>
>>11052191
PS2 or PCSX2 in software mode.
>>
>Do they still hold up today?
Asking such questions on /vr/ is weird. Play SotC on PS2. Ico is fine on PS3 as well I think, it looks the same. PAL versions for both games
>>
>>11052228
>PAL versions for both games
Doesn't PAL run at 50Hz
>>
>>11052242
Both games support 60 hz
>>
>>11052242
PAL stuff didn't have such a huge impact by the time of the PS2, games were frequently optimized for it
>>
>>11052191
PS3 remaster, PS4 remake, or emulated with speed hack.
You couldn't pay me to play the single digit FPS version.
>>
>>11052191
PS2 emulator on PS3
>>
>>11052191
Absolutely not this remaster
Emulate the PAL PS2 versions
>>
>>11052202
>>
>>11052191
>still hold up today
Eat shit and die. Games aren't technology, they're art
>>
>>11052202
This but pal versions only
>>
>>11052202
>ps3 remaster fucks up physics and graphical effects
this is incorrect btw
>>
>>11052228
>>11052394
>>11052550
whats your fucking problem do you own 100 copies of Pal SotC on ebay?
>>
>>11052394
Emulating the games is retarded, PS2 emulation isn't cycle accurate and emulating SotC introduces the same physics differences from the original that people complain about in the remaster. Real hardware only.
>>
>>11052579
I honestly believe they are just yuros who can't give up the few chance they have to be smug about the PAL version not being totally shit.
>>
>>11052584
The PAL version was shit, it removed most of the fun physics stuff you could do in the NTSC version and in return you got some useless items.
>>
>>11052579
>>11052584
>got attacked for no fucking reason
What is YOUR fucking problem? Wtf
>>
>>11052242
Most pal ps2 games supported pal 60 and 480p
Iirc pal PS1 can be modded to support NTSC
The only thing a pal ps2 can't do is output 1080i but I think that can be changed with mechapwn
>>
>>11052394
It's funny, everyone back then wanted the NTSC versions because they were better for exploration. The PAL versions patched out commonly-used exploits for climbing objects etc.
>>
play the PS3 version
>>
>>11052191
Of course they do

P.S. don't listen to the tards who say these games are boring. They've been saying that since these games released
>>
>>11052567
this is incorrect btw
>>
reading between the lines of your question I would say mostly yes. The strongest thing going for both is very fluid movement and animation, this ain't a tank control platformer if you're worried about that. your interface with the game is modern, streamlined. no using a compass, convoluted item menus, no labyrinths to get lost in. any issues you have with them as games exist outside of "is this a shitty old game?"
>>
I was playing shadow of the colossus for the first time, and I couldn't even climb the first guy, I kept fucking falling off. I don't wanna look up a walkthrough but like what am I doing wrong
>>
>>11053369
you need to climb the colossus quickly, you will lose stamina the whole time you're grabbed to the fur. most of them have platforms attached where you can rest a bit before going further, and take note when the enemy is trying to shake you off so you can position yourself.
>>
>>11053369
how embarrassing
>>
>>11052191
I prefer the PS3 release of SotC. Looks better than PS2 and the remake, and runs better than the PS2 version. Yes the gripping is fucked a little, however this is almost a non issue outside of the time trials, and can even be seen as an extra challenge. Ico I have no clue if PS2 or 3 is better.
>>
>>11052191
PS3 version on RPCS3 + patches to fix bugs, with higher resolution and framerate.
>>
>>11052579
>buying games
kys paypig
>>11052584
NTSC ones were literally unfinished versions you fucking retard, they both have 60hz support
>>
>>11052579
the US versions are basically beta builds. The PAL versions support 60hz so it's a no brainer to go for them when they're more complete
>>
>>11054562
Yes, the PAL version has 60Hz support. But only the HDMI versions have 30FPS and 60FPS support.
>>
>>11053369
It takes time getting used to. I dropped the game the first time I played for the same reason but then revisited it recently and beat it in one go.
>>
>>11052202
SotC runs like shit on an actual PS2 why would anyone choose to play that version. FPS drops to nothing in some parts of the game
Emulated PS2, that would probably work much better. Only emulated Ico myself, worked great.
>>
>>11052228
>Asking such questions on /vr/ is weird
He's a zoomer, they always ask these stupid questions because they are to afraid to spend 1 second trying anything old
>>
>>11052506
>they're art
lmao

Seems like an obvious question but you're actually holding down the grip button while trying to hang on, right? As soon as you let go he lets go
>>
The PS2 SotC's framerate is abysmal to the point it can be literally sickening.
>>
>>11052202
Based.
>>
>>11052191
Ico on aesterx2 (or whatever is the name) runs great.
>>
>>11054396
Is there a patch to fix the incessant shaking caused by the higher framerate?
>>
>>11052191
on PS2
