Was this the last good bomberman? I didn't enjoy the gamecube titles all that much.

First Cube game is decent and comfy but clearly more for kids, second one is worse

Last really good one and best one is the first N64 game, second one seemed to be worst from what I've played and heard

>worst
*worse, obviously not worst
>>
>>11055186
Generations is better than jetters but only slightly

After watching the 8 hour review of every single bomberman game on youtube I retained nothing and cant help you
>>
>>11055309
Why would you do this. Most of the early console and handheld games play the exact same way.

JP version of Bomberman Hero is a great game, one of the comfiest N64 platformers.

meh, at least you're honest about it. i know so many people who think they're sooooo smart for watching youtube all day

What about the US or PAL version?
>>
>you can access secret levels by pressing start super fast when loading the game

Wtf. I never knew this as a child.

>What about the US or PAL version?
They fucked around with the power-up system outside of Japan for no reason, so you lose all your upgrades that are permanent in the Japanese version.
>>
Yes. It's the best Bomberman game of all time so it's not really possible for anything after to be as good. It just happened that the last few games to come after were also the worst games.
>>

Bomberman has been on a downhill since the OG on NES, that was the best one by far, pure SOVL.

bomberman quest is obviously the best game in the franchise, who gives a shit about anything else

I personally loved Generations, so I wouldn't call TSA the last good one. It is the best, however.
>>
>>11055134
Last good story one for sure. Not retro but Bombermans swan song was Bomberman 2 on the DS
>>
>>11055134
Bomberman 64 and Saturn Bomberman are the last really soulful Bomberman games.
>>
Bomberman Hero was the first game I got and played on my own N64. Everyone hated it at the time because it didn't have multiplayer but I loved it as a 3D platformer, and I still think it is my favorite Bomberman experience despite not having the traditional gameplay.
>>
>>11055134
Bomberman never came to PS1 nor PS2. I wonder why??
>>
>>11056707
I agree, that game is great.
>>11056769
Bomberman came to both Play Station and PS2:
>PS2: Bomberman Heart Ball, Bomberman Kart, BKDX Bomberman Land, BL2, BL3, Bomberman Jetters, Net de Bomberman
>PS: Bomberman Party Edition, Bomberman World, Bomberman Wars, Bomberman Fantasy Race, Bomberman Land
>>
>>11055186
>the first N64 game
why is it so comfy and neatly designed bombros? i also hate that 99% of bomberman games have these generic checkerboard design for multiplayer maps
>>
>>11055481
That's gay. Did they think it was too easy?
>>
>>11056636
Be nice to pommy. He(she?) loves xer bombermen
>>
>>11056794
Yeah, it's not retro by /vr/'s standards (being a 2008 DS release), but Bomberman 2 on DS is definitely the last great Bomberman game.

It's a tragedy that this never got a US release. JP and EU only.

For games released before 2 on DS, I dunno maybe one of the GBA titles? They were more like top-down adventures akin to Zelda with quests and light RPG mechanics from what I remember.

The NA Bomberman NES cover funnily enough uses artwork from the MSX version of Bomber King (which got localised as Robo Warrior).

Apparently the Bomber King series has connections to Blaster Master too?

I always end up with the stupid 2 legged cat
>>
>>11056896
Did they really thing Tamagotchi was the way forward for Bomberman?
>>
>>11056896
Knight Pommy is based. He one shots most enemies and has an aggressive AI. If you're playing co-op your friends will hate you if they play as any other transformation.
>>11057760
It has nothing to do with tomagatchi. You could argue pokemon, though they didn't really lean into that trope until Bomberman Max or Tournament
