What are the best versions of these games? And any tips on getting good? I tried one a while ago but my health just kept getting whittled down over time until I got a game over toward the end.

Play streets of rage remake its GOATd so good that SEGA took it down because they are stupid faggots do not listen to retards who always shit on nintendo when they take down fan games and are like LOOOL SEGA WOULD NOT DO THIS XDDDDD they literally do it all the time. But anyway play that game its fricking good bro https://sorr.forumotion.net/t838-new-streets-of-rage-remake-v5-2-download-and-info

SoR1 kinda blows. Most of the damage you take is from enemies suddenly rushing towards you from offscreen, and a few bullshit bosses (fuck the twins). You just gotta memorize the game and learn how to cheese the annoying parts. Or you could just skip to 2 and play a better game. I still prefer the OST of 1 though.

This looks cool. Thanks for the link.

Make sure to find 5.1. The newest version (5.2) is a really bad update.

The originals, you retarded subhuman

I would think on the actual Genesis hardware itself would be the most ideal way to play them. However XBL has them available in a collection that is pretty good. You get the US and Japanese versions you can play.

1 is definitely the most simple of the series but I still like it for what it is. It isn't all that hard. One thing I don't like about the music for some of the songs in SOR1 is they have this weird rubber band sound effect that I am not sure what you even call it. Listen for yourself to see what I mean. You might want to put headphones so you hear it very clearly. It persists through the whole song I wish it could somehow get removed.

In streets of rage 1 you can pick Blaze and just trap enemies with jabs like in final fight. You can also tap left and right while jabbing to spin around and basically hit both in front of and behind you at the same time, but in general you still want you try and keep enemies on one side.

The bosses all suck and you just have to learn little loops and tricks to cheese them if you want to reliably 1cc the game on hardest, but some of the loops are pretty fun, especially for the last boss, so overall it's not that bad. 2's a much better game though.

Whats wrong with it?

The one really cool thing that SORR didn't added was the Predator boss from SOR2 Game Gear version. They even put the stage but not the boss.
Otherwise, best beat-'em-up ever

>fuck the twins
The twins can be cheesed with the back attack. Just face away from them and press jump+attack when they get close (holding jump down and just pressing the attack button is even easier and consistent)

The first one tends to be underwhelming if you compare it to its Arcade contemporaries, but it's really ok if you play it with an open mind, as its own thing. It's got a simple, minimalistic smoothness to it that it's still fun to play through every once in a while even today, and the music is beautiful. Also pretty fun in co-op.

The 3D Classics version of SoR2 is pretty neat; I like the little paper diorama quality everything has with the 3D effect.

SoR1 is rougher around the edges and less impressive visually but it has that early Genesis grit that Revenge of Shinobi also has which I like
There's no denying SoR2 is superior on a technical level but it doesn't replace SoR1 in my opinion

I know. It's still extremely tedious.

the dev fucked around with the artificial intelligence and now the enemies are super hard and fast even on easy.

>>11055547
It's easily the best and I will die on that hill.

Also I can nearly beat the entire game without taking damage.
>>
>>11055429
Only played the first one and I really like it, solely for the soundtrack. Never beat the final boss, though.

The Sega CD version got improved character voice clips, but also slowdowns at the beginning of level (at least in the emulator I used). I'd consider the Genesis version the better one.
