Maximo charging you money to save the game adds important weight to the currency. Between spending it on power ups or other goodies it tests both player skill and dares them to go without an advantage were they to save the game. This may be the best save system ever in a game all built around the consistent challenge the game has.
>>11058808>the best save system everCan't you just grind for coins by replaying levels?Wouldn't a better system be paying a percentage of your total coins?
>>11058808Maximo was and will always be a game for children
>>11058891maybe, but it's a great game for children.
>>11058927The one kid that I knew that played this game threw a childish tantrum about how it was the worst PS2 game yet.
>>11058938probably not edgy enough for his taste; consider the years it was released.
>>11058942I do think it and its sequel got lost in what PS2 action and platform games became but at the same time there's plenty of personality in Maximo that fit right in with the era of cocksure guys who aren't afraid to get in over their head.
When I played it on emu, I forgot about pond and thinked save only after boss. So dumb.Literally game for quicksave. No point complete level if you died.
