Underrated game but I wish they leaned more into the Hokuto no Ken aesthetic for Billy and Jimmy

I just discovered this game this year. Apparently it's Korean made which would explain its weirdness and deviation from normal fighting game conventions. In single player mode you pick your fighter before every match even if you've been winning. It doesn't feel like there's a proper boss, but the order in which you fight the others is always the same so there is a guy you always fight last but he's just one of the playable characters and there's absolutely nothing remarkable or more challenging about him. Every stage has the same exact music, but rounds 1 and 2 have different music from each other (can't remember if round 3 also has its own theme). Someone more knowledgeable than me of fighting game mechanics could try the game and probably also notice more subtle deviations from typical fighting games. Overall it's actually kinda fun and I'd like to try playing against an actual person in Fightcade sometime.

The game is actually supposed to be a sequel to that god-awful Double Dragon movie.

The Untouchable
First released in 1998 as a Macintosh exclusive with a Windows port available later. It's a fucking awful Mortal Kombat ripoff but the soundtrack full of poorly labeled licensed music is actually pretty damn good if you're into 90's techno beats

Been trying to recall a fighter from the mid 90s, only saw it in Gamest magazine, thing that stuck out in my head was that I think most/all of the characters had their styles based in Taekwondo. But it wasn't like Kim Kaphwan vs Hwoarang vs Liu Yungmie vs Baek Doosan vs etc. The character designs were unique enough that their styles wasn't obvious from their looks. Anyone recall such?

But along the way while digging around, I stumbled on Knuckleheads, a title I do remember from back then. Made by motherfucking Namco. I imagine everyone just associates them with Tekken and Soul Edge/Blade/Calibur.

Love how the background evokes KoF.

Do you remember any specific character from that game? Year? 2D or 3D?
>>
>>11066964
Little memory of anything other than that Taekwondo bit. I'm pretty sure it's 3D; I do recall characters had quite the list of moves like VF and Tekken, versus 2D fighters where it was basically different punch & kick strengths and a handful of specials.

Gamest published up to 1999, but I want to say the game came out mid 90s, VF and Tekken are 93 and 94, so maybe in the 95-96 time frame.

It is, it has some clips from the movie in the background. Still a worthwhile game unto itself, unlike the SF movie game.

>Jingi Storm: The Arcade is a 3D fighting game developed for the SEGA Naomi arcade system by Atravia Japan. Originally an unreleased 2004 Atomiswave 3D fighting game named Force Five developed by Anchor Inc (Developers of Fighter's Destiny and Toy Fighter) Force Five was cancelled late into development, being mostly complete. Atravia Inc purchased the incomplete game, reskinned the game's cast into original characters, & implemented eroge elements into the game. During location tests, Jingi Storm featured a system where players would see increasingly erotic illustrations of the losing character's companion depending on the winner's score, which was affected by time remaining, health, & consecutive wins. This feature was censored by the Japan Amusement Machine and Marketing Association for an all-age rating, but the clothed anime girls and scorebar is still present in the final game

Fighters Impact might be it. It's not quite setting off klaxons in my head, but the selectable fighting styles feature does sound very familiar.

Maybe the Taekwondo thing is a mixed memory drawing from Fight Fever, one of the lesser known Neo Geo fighters

Sounds similar to the original PC-98 Variable Geo games where the losing fighter is humiliated in a sexual manner. Speaking of which - Advanced V.G. 2 for PS1 comes to mind as an example of a lesser known fitghtan. Erotic content is removed in this one but pretty gals are still there and the gameplay is competent enough.
