>>11091736This is such a cool looking section. If it were in one of the better known games of the series (like 2 or 3) people would bring it up like they bring up 2's Mecha Dragon

>>11092010
>>11091719>>11091736>>11092063Man, Capcom was really good at this. Even a B-title like Bonkers has some evocative sunsets.
I think we can all agree that purple orange skies are the best
Apparently Windows version is free now https://www.myabandonware.com/game/kelly-slater-s-pro-surfer-dkc
>>11092075a "B" title from 90s Capcom still means an above the average game.
>>11092119holy SOUL
>>11092118Very true. 90s Capcom, especially the aesthetics of their games are unmatched. >>11091810I like this scene a lot because it has some Meiko Kaji ripoff music...PLUS this game came out at the tail end of the SNES's life...it's like watching the sun set on the hardware...kino...
>>11092073Cute, sauce?
>>11092493Soul Blazer
>>11092230>PLUS this game came out at the tail end of the SNES's life...You're thinking of Dream Land 3

>>11092509Yeah but the games aren't even in the same ballpark wrt quality

>>11092853This looks so cool. Robot's sprite reminds me of Bangai O
>>11094473It's surprisingly decent for a game developed by Micronics.

>>11092118>we barely know how to draw
>>11092075Mega Man X2's Bubble Crab stage has a great one at the beginning. Love the looming storm clouds.
>>11095972I used to listen to JMJ soundtrack to this level.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KglKlge3oeg
>>11095525
>>11095569It's called soul. You wouldn't get it.
>>110920006 is an excellent game, I'm not sure if people just got memed into ignoring it because "omg 6 in the same series on the same console," or the lie that the games never changed and heavily relied on recycled assets.
>>11091758>>11091781I fucking hated swinging on the hippos' tails... still a superb title though, I love playing it.
>>11098981wut gaem
>>11092073Based. Came here for this. >>11092493>>11092502Yup.
>>11099458Holy mother of SOVL
>>11092493Also, they redesigned her for the US release to look likes waifuish...and if I'm being completely honest here I like it better.Soul Blazer is a great game though. Very melancholy and it was probably the first game I ever played that made me I dunno...FEEL stuff.

No f355 on dreamcast in 640x480? Amazing
luv dusksimple as
>>11092063This is just something else man and I don't even have nostalgia for the SNES
>>11102880The crazy thing is that the radiant sunset is only seen for about 5 seconds at the beginning of the level. The rest of it takes place underwater.
>>11091736I find it funny that people like to shit on the Mega Man games for not having graphical improvements. Do they forget that MM6 had detailed backgrounds, some even with animation, while a good chunk of the backgrounds in MM1 were literally just a solid color?
>>11103451Mega Man 2's popularity first began with it being the most accesible one due to the US version having an easier difficulty but at some point that popularity deformed to "2 was the only good one" and people stopped looking at the rest objectively.

>>11103658I prefer the first game but that first level with that music and the sunset is top tier kino
>>11096060>>11095525Came for it, glad im not dissapointed
>>11092089What CRT shader are you using in this?
>>11104861https://pastebin.com/mkW4D3W4
>>11104941how does a brainlet utilize this?
>>11104975Save it as [filenameyouwant].slangp, put it in retroarch's shader folder, and then load the shader (don't forget it's a vulkan shader so your video output needs to be set to vulkan)
>>11104992thank you very muchhave a sunset
>>11104941Thank you very much desu.
>>11103658I'm one of the few that prefer this over the 1st one... and this 1st level is one of the reasons as to why that is. All of the qualities displayed are part of why I love this sequel so much, it's dark compared to the 1st in it's tone, atmosphere, it feels more serious, while still feeling like a light comic book and not taking it too far. Also, there was an attempt on a stealth focus, which I love. It's a worse video game than the 1st one, I'd even say that it's a worse Spider-Man video game too, I don't think it's "better" at all... since they messed up in a few places... but I do prefer it, personally.
>>11098868>Dun Morogh into Loch ModanAbove peak comfy
>>11101073I had a hard time with this level, but also a ton of fun, probably the best level in Crash 1 overall.
>>11092230
earth defense force snes. the background of stage 1 goes from day to sunset as you play through, like dkc. stage 2 is then twilight
samsho has too many good sunset stages

>>11108085kinoReminder to play the japanese version for extra animated grass
>>11106290Good call, Butoden games have some fine sunset stages
>>11098453Lookin' good
>>11091827The overabundance of red makes it look like some kind of japanese folk hell.

>>11098106It was simply a late release so few people played it as kids. I actually went backwards because of it, having played Mega Man X before then playing Mega Man 6 because I liked the series so much. I imagine most people discovered it via emulation or on one of the many collections and by then probably it was too much water under the bridge so they never really paid it much attention. Mega Man 2 and 3 are way more common. They're a fraction of the price of Mega Man 5 and 6. That's probably reflective of how many people played it back then.
>>11091291nice thread I am downloading it with jdownloader 2
>>11092098Shit yeah. I'd post Stalker sunsets now but I don't consider the series retro, even if it might be by the standards of nu/vr/.
