Hey kids, they made a video game out of your favorite tv show!!!
>>11094879If that was true I wouldn't still be waiting with baited breath for that Moonlighting game to finally come out.
I was 11-12 in 1991, and I remember this show still being aired in re-run form all the time. It's weird that Bandai picked up the Gilligans Island license. But, it's not like the show was obscure.
>>11094879I don't remember playing this game for very long. It had an interesting adventure game mechanic with both Gilligan and the Skipper. The back and forth dialogue is neat. It seems like a game engine template that Bandai stuck a license too. https://youtu.be/Ilsx3wm1nVY?t=165
>>11094879That was my favorite show and I really liked that game. Checkmate zoomer.
>>11094879That doesn't look like Adam-12...
>>11094879Bullshit, Star Trek never got any video games!
>>11095474Elite Force? Never played it but I remember hearing it was good.
>>11095474>Bullshit, Star Trek never got any video games!Maybe on home consoles? Star Trek seemed better represented on the PC back in the day. You didn't really start seeing any significant Star Trek console games until TGN and DS9.
>>11095474Your bait worked on two kids, lol...https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Star_Trek_games
>>11094879>Zoomie understand that TV networks actually broadcast old TVs for a VERY long time so kids in the 80s and 90s WOULD be quite familiar with this program. At any rate I was always more of an F-troop kid.
>>11094879They really did
and *they* did it again!now where is my Sliders PSX game?
>>11095615There were a good crop of PC games in the late 90s/early 00s and the p&c adventure games in the early 90s are generally seen as genre classics. But yes, all on PC, as that would have been the average media a Trek Fan would have used at that time most likely.
>>11094898>baited breathWhay?
>>11095675It's an expression
>tfw no Hogan's Heroes stealth strategy game
>>11095624>F-TroopMuh nigga. Favorite episode is Corporal Agarn's Farewell to the Troops. The scene where they are dressed up like the robbers and attempt to rob the stagecoach at the same time as the real robbers is fucking gold.>"Here Bob!">"I'm not Bob!">"Neither am I!">"Give me that!">"What are you doing over there Bob?">"I'm not Bob!">"That's right Bill, he's not Bob, I'm Bob!">"Who is he?!">"I thought that was you!">"That's not me, I'm me, he's him!">"Give that bag to Bob!">"I've got these two guys covered, take off Bob!">"What are you, a wise guy? Why didn't you give that bag to Bob?">"I thought that was Bob. Didn't you think he was Bob?">stagecoach driver:"I wish you would make up your mind who Bob is so I can get out of here. I'm late already."Also a big fan of McHale's Navy and The Phil Silvers Show(Sgt. Bilko). Dunno why, but the military schemers comedy setup just works.
>>11094879>No Harvest Moon game based on Green Acres...Fuck...
>>11095630Kinoludo
why did it never get the game adaptation it deserved?
>>11095697https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYkUNuMD8pcI love this bit.
>>11094898I could see them doing a moonlighting game NOW if Bruce was still healthy enough to do voice over workback in the NES days? It would probably be like that Dick Tracy game
>>11094879I guess they made a 3 stooges game and thats even older than Gilligan's Island.I remember the Gilligan island game being decent. the 3 stooges should have been a side scrolling beat em up.
Hard mode would be playing as Barney with his 1 bullet lol
>>11096312meant for>>11095761
>>11094879Need a Buster Keaton video game
>>11095723Oh yeah, and part two, or maybe just a spin off game, will include petticoat junction. I love that theme song.
>>11094879>shit you saw at the rental store your entire childhood and wondered who the fuck ever rented
>>11095684No, "bated breath" is an expression. You got confused because you're illiterate and don't know what words mean.
>>11096974It's an acceptable mistake, because no one on this planet uses the word 'bate' outside of that specific context.
>>11094906i was <1 in 1991 and I also remember watching reruns of gilligan's island around that age.
>>11097032Two of my local TV stations play nothing but boomer shit and Looney Toons.
>>11094879Hey (Japanese) Kid, they made a video game out of your favorite book! Also I like when video games used these type of physical models/clay figures in their advertising. We had a thread on that years ago and I still think about it
>>11095675Please accept my heartfelt apologies, I was so busy furiously jerking to Cybill Shepherd as I wrote that I didn't think to check my spelling. It wun't heppan agaim
>>11094879
>>11097165Wow, that's so fucking funny! Kill yourself.
>>11097113>Id give young cybil baited breathI like the idea of old shows getting video games. then when you beat it you can get the series finale the shows never got.
>>11097113Cybill was literally perfect. She was in a few good movies before Moonlighting and then her career was basically over when moonlighting ended. Its too bad since she was hot and a good actress
>>11094879I was prepared to say there's no The Fall Guy video game but those damn europoors and their shitty budget computer games
>>11094879i remember posting pic rel on /vr/ not long after its creation and a few people initially believed it was real. sadly not.
>>11097915She's been working consistently the whole time and still is. You forget she had her own show in the 90's that ran longer than Moonlighting
>>11097945I could see Frasier working as a point and click adventure.
>>11097921Europers would make budget computer games on any movie or show
>>11097945couldve been the gentleman's married with children
>>11097945>>11097172
>>11098663this photo of a magazine is surprisingly comfy for me
>>11095628Wow, they actually got Drew Struzan to make this box art.
>>11100057It's a Tom Dubois covernot sure if joking or not
>>11100058...I actually wasn't.
>>11094879This show was airing in syndication throughout the 90s. If that seems odd to you, consider that Cheers, Frasier, and Seinfeld are all still running in syndication too.
>>11095671yeah, either old nerds or young nerds. Kind of surprised a TNG NES game never showed up though.>>11096312Nah, it would be a point and click adventure where they do anything but actual police work.
>>11094879Because of OP you can say this is your favorite game in that new Nintendo World Championships Switch game that just came out
>>11100293>gilligans island available>bubble bath babes isn't
>>11100083tons of old shows were still running in the 90s. hell just look at what was on nick at nite. get smart, mr. ed, green acres, dick van dyke, etc. i cant think of anything else that inexplicably got a nes game.
>>11100090>TNG NES game never showed up though. There was a 1993 one by Absolute Entertainment in which the player takes the role of a Starfleet cadet participating in a training simulation.
>>11098670Fucking Sunsoft...
>>11097172>>11098673you're so upset come closer so i can taste ur tears.
>>11100315Is this the one where you take on Kobayashi Maru, complete with option to cheat it like Kirk did to unlock a bonus scenario?
>>11098670I>>11100329I know there are more games i havent played than played on nes but ive never once thought of playing platoon. I doubt my mom wouldve let me rent it if i picked it up. Hell, ive never seen the movie.
>>11097002what did you bait your breath with? a mint? what are you trying to catch with that baited breath?
>>11097945The home improvement game is real
>>11094879I was very young when I started associating licensed TV/Movie games with junk. Probably since birth honestly I can't remember a single licensed game I was interested in.
If only the Magic School bus one were Real on either NES, SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive, or Sega CD.
>>11101090Star wars became about games not movies during the 5th gen/prequels. I think the NES and ps2 have the largest libraries of licensed schlock
>>11101118Thats true I do remember enjoying some of the 5th gen Star Wars junk.
>>11101086>live-action comedy>"yeah we can make an action/platformer game where tim allen fights dinosaurs, ghosts, robots and all that other bullshit with nailguns and a chainsaw that launches laser beams"I really want to know the story behind that game's development.
>>11100315Why does no one on the cover look like they want to be there
>>11101118>Star wars became about games not movies during the 5th gen/prequelsGeorge Lucas did have a vision of telling the classic fall and redemption story with a pulp Buck Rodgers space opera setting, but one of the main driving forces behind it all was toys and toy sales. The shift is that with the 90's kids were moving more and more towards video game toys than physical plastic toys. But in the end it's all pretty much the same. Back then thevway you knew the names of the pig faced Jabba guards was grom the toys. Same with Boba Fett, IG-88 etc. That shit's not in the movies, it was drip fed through toys and bits of flavor text.
>>11101093Monkey Paw would have made it a CD-i game
>>11101486>Monkey PawWhat?
Is this the "grandma bought it for me for Christmas, because she recognized the license, and it was probably $20 cheaper than everything else at the store"-core thread?
>>11101484Han Solo calls him Boba Fett...
>>11101118Shadows of the Empire was a strong example of this, since it was basically a full Star Wars entry, sans an associated film. They even made it canon with the Outrider ship appearing in the special edition of RotJ.
>>11101527"Boba Fett!? Boba Fett, where?!" could mean anything.
>>11101552I couldn't even hear Han say it clearly because of John Williams blaring at full-volume over everything.
>>11097002i’m a master of bate
>>11101621>Ba-DUM-tish!
I just loved this movie as a little kid. I'm glad they made this 11 years after the movie.
>>11094879Hey kids, its your favorite Death Wish !
A game based on the Underground Railroad sounds like a smash hit.
>>11103341the movie was about kersey setting up traps that maim and kill criminals in between the times he is shooting purse snatchers in the back. its actually the most over the top and based death wish ever imo
>>11094879I rented this game back in the day. I didn't think it was all that bad
>>11097056Post the blackface
MMMmmmMary Anne.
>>11105363What's with this "and the rest" crap?
>>11105370That was only season 1 I believe.
>>11105389And yet it remains forever as an ongoing joke in pop-culture.
>>11095761Surely Don Knotts must be featured in at least one video game.We need an autist in this STAT.
>>11096312And when you try to use it, the bullet's too rusty to fire.
>>11102772I had a buddy that owned that. It was wack
>>11105403https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5ZEtkhY3_g
>>11105403>Don KnottsThe original security guard model from Half-Life 1 was nick named 'Barney'; because it was modeled to look like Don Knotts character from The Andy Griffith show.
>>11100315This also came up on Master System in Brazil, Australia, and Europe.
>>11105403There isn't, actually. Closest you'll get is Alan Wake. There is a character named Rusty who bears a resemblance to Don Knotts' comedic persona.
>>11106691At least two examples where posted
When I was really young we had a drawer full of nes games but no system to play them on. I used to stare at the labels and this one really caught my eye. My parents gave me the rundown on what Gilligan's island was and I would make my cousin play it with me outside. After watching the show later, I found that our make believe stories were pretty accurate. I also wrote my own theme song for it. In that drawer there was also a copy of Skate or Die but someone had put a sticker of Link doing a jump slash on the label, covering up the E in Skate so I thought it was called "skat or die". I thought it was an edgy big kid's zelda game where link went around butchering everyone. I told a lot of kids I had it
>>11106695Those were also parodies. He did not have a direct involvement with a video game.
>>11105363she cute
>>11094879well this was a pretty good game anyways. As a kid I knew who Lone Ranger was, though I don't think I ever watched a single episode
>>11106769He is literally in the scooby doo one. That's not an impression. That's him. In a credited role.
>>11106938>As a kid I knew who Lone Ranger was,Lone Ranger was pretty well cemented into pop culture from the radio days alone.
>>11105486>A callback to his guest-spots in the Scooby Movies show, and he gets to riff on a tired cliche along the wayDon was a trooper to the end.
>>11101530SotE was conceived as a 'dry-run' for the PT. Did all the shit like character/vehicle/set design, recorded music, did a fuck load of multimedia projects and advertising, only real 'problem' is that the people actually making the book/game/comic didn't fucking talk to each other so the stroy is inconsistent as fuck across all three, like Rendar is barely in the book, and his whole character is "what if Han Solo stayed an amoral money-obsessed asshole," and then he just dies like 2/3s in
>>11107042Don was the best of all time.
>>11107003I think the anon you are arguing with is special...it's literally Don's recognizable voice.
>>11094879This aint C.H.i.P.s though. I love that bs show.
>>11097036Me TV is Memorable entertainment TeleVision.
>>11094925This actually looks pretty cool. I was also a little kid with insomnia in the 90's so I ended up watching a ton of this show on Nick at Nite. There's an episode where they finally get off the island right?
>>11097945Name a game like this that is actually good
>>11110767No, but a direct-to-TV movie has them finally escape and get back to their lives until they all take another three-hour boat tour and end up back on the island.
>Watch the show when I was 12>Gilligan botches another rescue attempt>Why don't they just kill Gilligan?>Gilligan is worst character >Watch it 20 years later>See rest of cast condemn the islanders more than Gilligan>Gilligan saves the cast more than dooming them>Not out of pure stupid luck either but rather putting others needs above his own>Without Gilligan, cast would be dead several times>Gilligan is best characterI have to watch more of these shows again now that I'm wiser. Does I Dream of Jeanie still hold up?
https://youtu.be/03naALMW3jw?si=y0CZ5b6Xvzbu-JBEI found out about this recently and it's a shockingly accurate adaptation for the time
>>11097915>>11096293>>11094898Moonlighting is so weirdly burnt into my brain. In 4th grade I described it to the class as my favorite show about a couple of goofball detectives who can't figure out if they love or hate each other to stunned bored reception. Then there's an episode I have tried to find since in vain, Bruce Willis' character when trying to distract someone asks them "can you do this?" And he does a hand sign pretty much like the vulcan salute. The person tries I think, maybe succeeds and he says "can you do this?" And does kind of the opposite with the index and pinky finger still extended but the ring and middle finger together in the middle. I think the person tries that one, but the kicker then is he says "and can you do this?" again and keeps the index and pinky fingers extended, while just the middle and ring finger move to alternate the two hand gestures. The guy tries, is baffled and frustrated and that was enough of a distraction for the scene. You can try it now, it's quite difficult to do but I spent years practicing the muscle memory to be pretty good at it and will do that whole bit for people and enjoy watching them try.
