BYE BYE BUGGY

I scratched my PS1 disc of this so bad as a kid it would randomly send you to the spider level as you played, and I got so frustrated with it I got it on N64.

This game is actually fun but these last levels (the canyon and the city) are complete ass.
Also I'm playing the N64 version.

What's better, N64 or PS1?
>>
>>11107417
they are the same game
I guess the ps1 has better texture resolution but also looks like it has no mipmapping
>>
>>11107417
Between those two? PS1 by far, the N64 version has worse draw distance than the PS1 version (which is already poor) and suffers from very bad performance, there's less voice clips, the music got a downgrade and the fmvs are obviously missing and instead there's poor quality jpegs. It seems like the N64 version either was rushed or the devs had a hard time developing for the console (someone on github noticed that there's some errors in the game's coding: https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/issues/2765#issuecomment-1475161314)
PC version seems to be the best version of the game.

PS1, same for Toy Story 2
>>
>>11103956
Pretty much what happened to my Toy Story 2 PS1 disc, except I bought the N64 version years later.
>>
>>11107681
Dreamcast is the best Toy story 2 version.

How?
PSX version looks super chunky and suffers from the usual texture warping

The answer is always PS1
>>
>>11107867
The N64 did not have anywhere near that clear of an image nor did the PS1 have texture filtering like that

Proof? Quality mostly depends on your capture quality. The N64 version renders at a higher resolution than the PSX.
>nor did the PS1 have texture filtering like that
Video capture from real hardware results in a bit of fuzzyness, won't always look like an emulator screenshot.
But the textures themselfves have some softening baked into them though, it allows the PSX to do a poor mans texture filtering
Why do people just blurb out pure lies in their responses when things do not go their way? Closet fanboys?

>Proof? Quality mostly depends on your capture quality. The N64 version renders at a higher resolution than the PSX.
The N64's image was absolutely buried under various filters that only cleaned up to some extent on a CRT, accurate rendering would show this. The N64 image quality was considered blurry even back then. The PS1 had a much cleaner image due to overall lack of filtering but had issues with texture warping.
>>
>>11107968
N64 blurryness differs per game, just look at Rogue Squadron, Shadowman or F-Zero
>The PS1 had a much cleaner image due to overall lack of filtering but had issues with texture warping.
And issues with wobbly geometry, hideous dithering, pixel crawl anywhere, and the list goes on.
Just because it looks good in stills doesn't make it ideal in motion.
>>
>>11107417
try both yourself, it's not like it's a 50gb game

Just depends on what you were more bothered by. The PS1 had its issues but I really didn't like how N64 games looked smeared with vaseline. I'm also the sort to prefer Software rendering in Quake for similar reasons.

tfw wanna play Toy Story 2 on my EverDrive but no controller pak to save
>>
>>11108341
aren't those like $10
>>
>>11108408
They are, but I'm cheap and I've already spent enough money on the EverDrive and controllers and shit.

I'm wondering if it's possible to modify the game ROM so it saves to the cart instead of the controller pak.
>>
I suspect that this game was originally something else. The whole seed harvesting mechanic is way too interesting to be used for such a generic licensed game. I imagine a designer probably had a demo around the mechanic and it was later turned into this.

It's a bad version with tons of bugs and visual issues. The FMVs are nice but I have no idea what happened to make the 3d so unstable.

I beat the game tonight, despite some very shitty levels (the canyon maze, the first city level and the atta flight level), bad draw distance and the camera I enjoyed the game, the seed mechanic is really fun to use and collecting grain and flik letters is also fun, kinda mixed on the gold berry to kill every enemy mechanic, it's fun to spam berries and make them explode but it can be annoying when you dont have it and the enemies keep respawning, the harvester doesn't help much either.

It's better than banjo kazooie and I'm not even joking or trolling.

did you find the secret levels?

OOH, IRIDESCENT LIGHT
>>
>>11112025
I played the N64 version and I think it doesn't have the bonus levels, instead it has a challenge mode where you play a level and have to do a certain task (get the golden berry, collect all the letters, etc...) in a certain amount of time.
