Solutions for getting your base attacked early on? Other than restarting the game.

reminder this stupid piece of shit game is bugged that it will always select the easiest difficulty no matter what you chose.

People actually suck this off when 99% of them only ever played on the easiest difficulty. If you ever wanted proof that the interest and fans for this game were 100% poser faggots, there it is.

There was a fan-made patch that fixed it which released all the way back in 1995 you shit-sucking retard.

Which is why I said 99%, dumbfuck

The windows versions of the game also don't have the bug, so anyone who played it using the windows version didn't either, dipshit fuckstick retarded faggot.

Yes, somehow this bug got through all versions of the DOS game, because not one single person thought "huh, wow this game sure does feel exactly the fucking same on the harder difficulties as the easiest".

It was not until the collectors edition (that barely anyone played) that it was finally fixed. GOG and Steam both still only sell the DOS versions that all have the bug present as well.

Again, it's more just to emphasize how irrelevant and unplayed this game is that all versions of the game except one obscure version have an essentially game-breaking bug, including all versions sold on storefronts today.

Just shows it's one of those games you fire up, play for a bit to act like you have taste and are playing a heckin' hidden gem, then you don't bother actually learning the game or achieving any level of competency or it would be abundantly clear the game is perma stuck on babymode.

It's like if NGB only had Ninja Dog or DMC3 only had Easy.

And then people complained that it was easy so they made the sequel the hardest game ever made

Sounds like you still couldn't beat it since it makes you so angry.
>>
Yes, but how do I defend my base in the early game?

>equip all your soldiers with motion scanners
>don't leave rooms, stay inside and keep cheking scanners
>when there's an ayy nearby, get out, shoot it dead and go back inside

It's their job to hunt you. Play like a filthy camper and make their lives hell

The computer is just given cheats on higher difficulties, no big loss.

Aliens spawn in the hangars and access lifts first. If you're using the default (terrible) starting base layout, you should gradually move all hangars in your initial base to one side with limited connections to the rest of the base.
Sell an interceptor at the start and demolish one of the bottom hangars.
If you're not using OpenXCom, make sure to build your next 4 rooms in its place to avoid the bug where you pay out the nose for the maintenance on the empty tiles.
