easy choice
>>
>>11107710

I should have said September 11th 1995. You have your choice of either a shiny new PSX with the launch game Toshienden, or a Sega Saturn with the Virtua Fighter 1 bundle. But whatever. I didn't write any specific details. Just '1995'.

>Wrong only the saturn can haz 3

I had a Saturn with this bundle.
>>
>>11107736
I had both on PC.
>>
>>11107738
>I had both on PC.

Technically you had a port of Virtua Fighter Remix for PC.
>>
>>11107747
Don't care.
Still had a good time.
>>
>>11107710
Too many people have forgotten this epic battle
>>
>>11107710
In 1995 i would have chosen Saturn if I had the money
>>
You wouldn't regret picking the Saturn until 1997. Most people picked the Playstation around this time solely because it was $100 cheaper
>>
>>11107710
Got SATURN and Playstation in 1995. Playstation was incredibly disappointing. After all the hype from print mags. Flimsy hardware. Shitty games.

Battle Arena Toshinden was one of the first 3D fighters released for the PS1. So Sony used it to advertise it against VF1. This was before Tekken was released on the PS1. Even though, Battle Arena really is in a different sub genre of 3D fighter.

Probably 3DO since it was the only one that had Super Turbo at that point

The 3DO also had a 3D fighter released for it in 1995. Ballz: The Directors Cut,.

Both Battle Arena Toshitden and Virtua Fighter were made obsolete within months of their release.
>>
>>11108076
not true 3d
and looked worse than Toshinden despite having much higher budget

>Both Battle Arena Toshitden and Virtua Fighter were made obsolete within months of their release.

Virtua Fighter 1 was released in late 1994 in Japan for the Saturn. Battle Arena Toshinden released in Jan 1995 in Japan. By the time both came out in later 1995 in the west, we were already seeing previews for VF2 and BAT2.
>>
>>11107710
Toshinden is a good game.
>>
>>11107710
Since it's 1995, I'm picking Toshinden.
As a kid, I thought it looked better than Virtua Fighter or even Tekken 1.
If we're talking about consoles, it's a harder choice. I'm a big Genesis fan and at first I was paying more attention to the Saturn. But one magazine I had at home was already talking about how the Saturn wasn't properly designed, and games like VF1 and Daytona USA looking like garbage didn't help either, although later early games managed to look clearly better.

Lol.
You're stupid
>>
>>11107710
I choose playstation because sega is fucking trash
>>
>>11107710
toshinden because i owned it then, got it with wipeout
>>
>>11107710
Knowing the truth in long term.

virtua fighter.
>>
>>11107832
those were the times
>>
>>11107710
Since I’m not fucking poor, I’ll take both.
>>
Toshinden, because in 1995 I had neither of these consoles, but I had a hifi tower and Toshinden had way better music to play from the CD.
>>
>>11107710
i didn't buy that generation until 1996. i went Playstation, and i'm so glad i did.
>>
>>11107710
Saturn, toshinden came out on there too
>>
VF1 is lame but Toshinden was never good.
This >>11108059 is the way and then wait for VF2 and Tekken 2
>>
>>11107710
Wasn't the Playstation $100 cheaper than the Saturn?
>>
>>11107710
Why not the Battle Arena Toshinden they released for the Saturn?
>>
Virtua Fighter is the better game, but I'd go with PSX because I'd know it's gonna get Tekken.
>>
>>11108047
I think people forget just how big Toshinden was in the early PS1 days. It was an amazing game and Sofia was the semi-official mascot for a while pre-Crash Bandicoot.
>>
>>11108076
I stand firm that Toshinden 1 is a better game than Tekken 1. I thought this back then and still do. Tekken 1 played like molasses even by the standards of the day.
>>
>>11109352
Wrong, Tekken was the first 3d fighter to run at 60 fps. VF1 and Toshinden were both 30 and had huge input lag.
>>
>>11109349
It was an early fighter that Sony could prop up a competitor to the original Virtua Fighter 1 Saturn release in particular. I always liked Toshinden, to be honest, even with the jankiness, it was an early attempt at a 3D weaspons based fighter that later inspired other games like Soul Edge/ Soul Calibur, and things like Sega's Last Bronx. Toshinden was pretty popular in its earliest conception, and even spawned some Japanese OVA movies. But it was a series that really disappeared. I always liked the character designs and the concept. I remember playing the game in 1995 on a PS1 and I was pretty impressed by the visuals at the time too.

>>11109358
Being 60fps doesnt mean it can't be slow. You literally move slower in Tekken even if there's less input lag.
>>
>>11107710
I chose right. Toshinden convinced me. I was really into VF and was going to get a Saturn because of it. but I lost confidence in Sega because of how quickly they seemed to abandon Sega CD and 32x.

I knew deep down the Saturn was going to not get enough games to justify its price and they were just going to release someting else. but I really wanted to play VF at home (they were charging more than a quarter in my arcade, I think it was a dollar for a while, then 50 cents)

tried Toshinden and it scratched my VF itch even though VF was better.
>>
>>11109358
It wasn't even a proper 3d fighter, everything happens on a single plane.
Might as well call SF4 a 3d fightrer.
>>
>>11109834
Wrong. A lot of moves in T1 hit from the side, as opposed to the front. Spinning kicks, roundhouse kicks etc. This is only possible because the hitboxes are 3D objects moving in 3D space. SF4 hitboxes are 2D like in sprite based 2D fighters.

>>11107710
Eiji looks like a dull farmer
>>
>>11107724
Based, Virtua Cop makes any choice but point blank irrelevant
>>
>>11109116
segasaturn got two battle arena toshinde entries.
