How fucked am I? Also CRT thread I guess.

maybe just needs a recap, and you can replace that shitty aperture grille with a superior slot mask for free or cheap. Slot mask really is the superior phosphor geometry for most applications. Trinitron just has a tiny bit more brightness

This. FPBP.

just give it a good wack

you're too helpless to not kill yourself opening it, so donate it to someone who for sure will repair it, if the phosphors are still vibrant. there's no fixing a faded CRT

Completely fucked. Last time this happened to me it turned out to be a shorted tube.
>>
>>11107828
what is it supposed to look like?

Mine does that when its too close to the router.

im picking up a 2008 manufactured zenith healthview on friday. never used as it was a spare.

Rotate it and watch as it fixes itself

Looks like your plug might not be in properly
Or it is magnetised, turn it off by the switch instead of standby
>>
>>11107828
That happens because the green electron gun is getting too much power and bleeding into the screen, you need to stick a screwdriver under the red thing to let out the excess voltage (must be turned on for this).
>>
>>11107828
you can use a degausser on it
if there are LARGE magnets within 8 feet in the room
move them away from the tv
guitar amps, home theater speakers, soundbars, etc
if the speakers are not shielded it will cause discoloration\alignment issues

Don't do this or you'll die, OP

Is CRT repair really as difficult as it seems? The picture on mine is starting to warp and I'd like to fix it, but I don't want to fry myself. I've done some solder jobs so I'm not a complete shitter at electronics repair.

The only problem is that youre troubleshooting a complicated high voltage electronic device with most likely very little information. If you got some monitor with a comprehensive service manual available, great, otherwise you're fucked trying to figure that shit out.
