Most likely a game of telephone, where the translator translated the line as "You're the princess's..." and the localizer's mind went to "brother", so he wrote the English line that way.There's a similar instance with the bat who halves your magic. In Japan, the gag was kind of like "heh heh... so the brave hero dared to unseal me... let me show you what I do to people like you... I'm gonna make sure you get exactly what you deserve!" and zaps you. The punchline is that he was actually thanking you all along and just phrased it like a villain speech. You can tell the translator had zero context for the joke and just translated it literally. Then the localizer went "what the fuck is he talking about?" and completely rewrote it.
